Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted (Stella and Keegan) -
Chapter 1963
Cyrene had firmly decided that under no circumstances would she allow Chandler to bail Dahlia out tonight. With that determination, she sent a message to her two brothers at home. Turning to Keegan, she remarked, "I didn't know you were cold-blooded toward your mom."
Keegan responded with calm indifference, "She's not exactly a loving mother to me either, Cyrene. Have you ever seen a mother so eager to divide the family property when her son was missing?" Cyrene remained silent.
To be honest, she didn't dislike Keegan. If it weren't for Dahlia flaunting Keegan's achievements in front of Cordelia and belittling her son every time, she wouldn't mind if Jackson spent more time learning from Keegan.
Unfortunately, Dahlia didn't know when to shut up.
Jackson's grades weren't good, and every time they met, she would deliberately bring it up in front of many people.
After asking about Jackson, she would immediately mention that Keegan scored several perfect grades again and that she was not worried about his studies.
According to Dahlia, Keegan's success was all thanks to her.
A mother's love for her child knows no boundaries. Cyrene did not enjoy listening to Dahlia compare their sons like that. So, the conflict was deeply rooted.
When Keegan went missing, Cyrene genuinely felt sad. She hadn't expected Dahlia to be so eager to divide Keegan's inheritance.
Cyrene did not care about their family dispute, but Chandler getting involved left a sour taste in her mouth. She always thought Chandler was smart, but in this matter, he acted foolishly.
Regardless of whether Keegan came back or not, having his uncle and mother team up to split his inheritance was embarrassing.
Dahlia could be shameless, but dragging Chandler into the equation made Cyrene feel disgusted.
'Now, Dahlia expects my family to clean up the mess she made? No way!'thought Cyrene.
Keegan took a shortcut, so they arrived earlier despite leaving later than Chandler.
When the car stopped at the police station entrance, Keegan handed a bottle of water to Cyrene. "Don't get thirsty," he said.
Cyrene took the water but didn't drink. She held the bottle and kept her eyes on the bustling street until she spotted a familiar Maybach stopping at the police station entrance.
Soon, the car door opened, and Chandler hurriedly got out of the vehicle, heading toward the entrance. Following him was a man in a light-colored suit whom Cyrene recognized as Chandler's lawyer.
"Chandler!"
Before he could step inside, a familiar female voice sounded from behind.
Chandler paused, thinking he misheard. He lifted his foot to continue walking.
The voice came again, "Chandler Kane, stop right there!"
Cyrene rushed over, grabbed his coat, and said, "I told you to stop!"
Chandler was astonished. "Cyrene, what are you doing here?"
With reddened eyes, Cyrene gritted her teeth. "Didn't you say there was urgent work? How come you're at the police station?"
A look of embarrassment crossed Chandler's face, but it disappeared in an instant. He grabbed Cyrene's hand and said in a low voice, "I didn't tell you to avoid unnecessary worry."
"You lied to me. That makes me worry even more!" Cyrene shook off his hand.
"Tell me, what are you doing at the police station?"
Cyrene's voice was loud. The on-duty police officers at the entrance occasionally glanced in their direction, making Chandler feel uneasy.
He whispered, "Get in the car first. I'll tell you after I handle this. I'll be back in a moment."
"Don't think about going anywhere! I want you to tell me right now!" Cyrene's face was stern.
Chandler checked the time, pursed his lips, and said, "Dahlia got arrested. I'm getting a lawyer to bail her out. Wait for me for a while. I'll be right back."
As he spoke, he tried to walk away, but Cyrene stopped him.
"You're not allowed to go!"
