Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 53
Chapter 53
As Kila followed her idol out of the building, she felt lightheaded and couldn’t believe the situation was real.
It was as if she were walking on clouds.
Ever since her days in college, Kila had heard of Neville’s great reputation, knowing how he had achieved remarkable success in the field of law.
His career was legendary, and Kila had always looked up to Neville as a goal to strive for.
She didn’t expect to catch up to or surpass him in this lifetime. As long as she continued to move toward this goal, she would be more than satisfied.
So, Kila never imagined that such a great surprise would happen to her.
She was now following Neville, someone she never thought she would have the chance to get close to.
Although her idol didn’t seem interested in engaging with her, even exchanging a few words with him was enough to make Kila feel content.
In the blink of an eye, they walked out of the South Club’s entrance. Realizing that she would get to ride in his car, Kila’s heart raced, feeling both excited and nervous.
As she was lost in thought, she heard a voice say, “Get in the car.”
The voice was cold and steady.
Such an idol–like style!
As Kila marveled, she looked in the direction Neville was standing and was nearly stunned.
Was her idol’s driving style this astonishing?
Kila thought that someone like Neville would drive a car with the same sharp and aggressive style he had in court, quietly defeating his opponents.
But in reality, he drove a flashy blue Ferrari sports car.
The roaring engine attracted attention as soon as it started, though there weren’t many people around.
Only a few customers could afford the membership at this club.
Still, Kila could imagine the gasps and curious stares the car would attract on the street.
Who would have thought her idol had such a wild and unrestrained side?
As she contemplated this, Neville sat in the driver’s seat, fastened his seatbelt, and coldly reminded her, “Are you getting in
or not?”
“Y–Yes, of course!”
Kila stuttered, not wanting to miss this opportunity.
No matter how much the sports car challenged her perception of Neville, she had to get in!
Once inside, Kila commented, “Mr. Desmund, your Ferrari… has quite a unique style.”
Neville, a man who seemed to dislike small talk outside of court, only responded with a glance at Kila’s comment.

Then, without saying a word, he stepped on the gas.
Kila immediately experienced a feeling of lightning–fast speed. Fortunately, they were in a suburban area with few other cars. Otherwise, she would have been too nervous to breathe.
She gripped her seatbelt tightly, initially imagining that after getting in Neville’s car, they would discuss work.
She could learn from her idol, but with the speed of this sports car, she was lucky not to pass out, let alone talk about work.
In less than two minutes, Neville’s car pulled up to the nearest subway station.
Kila awkwardly got out of the car and thanked him. “Mr. Desmund, today…”
Before she could finish, Neville had already driven away, leaving Kila with only a cool, dashing silhouette.
Her eyes sparkled. The rumors were true. Neville was indeed aloof and reserved in his private life. He did not like to talk.
Giselle had no idea the opportunity she’d created for her friend had vanished just like that. After returning home with Hymes, she thought it over and decided to talk to him about what had happened today.
“Hymes, in the future, if I have any gatherings, I’ll let you know in advance who I’m with and where I am, so you won’t have to worry about me.”
Seeing the sincerity in her clear eyes, Hymes felt at ease.
The uneasiness he felt gradually disappeared.
He nodded solemnly. “I will too.”
Her eyes were slightly curved. “I know it’s not easy to adjust when two people live together. We both need to learn… Please be patient with me, and I’ll…”
A blush spread across Giselle’s face. “Be a good wife to you…”
She spoke the last part so softly that Hymes didn’t quite catch it. “What?”
“Nothing, nothing. I’ll go freshen up first…”
Watching Giselle’s hasty retreat. Ilymes couldn’t help but smile.
Although he had been in a bad mood all day, everything seemed to return to normal because of Giselle.
After freshening up, it wasn’t too late yet. Giselle turned on the TV in the living room, and Hymes sat next to her. They enjoyed each other’s company in silence.
Although they didn’t speak, Giselle liked the atmosphere, feeling a sense of tranquility and unspoken understanding.
Suddenly, her phone rang. Giselle received a voice message from Marie and accidentally played it aloud. Marie’s excited. voice filled the room. “Giselle, your dad and I saw a beautiful wedding dress today! You’ll look stunning in it when you get
married!”
Marie’s voice played loudly without any restraint, making Giselle panic. She instinctively glanced at Hymes‘ reaction.
As expected, he looked at Giselle with a hint of amusement.
Giselle hurriedly explained, “My mom just loves to plan these things for me…”
Giselle then converted the rest of the voice messages to text. After seeing the content, she let out a sigh of relief.
Good thing was that she didn’t play the rest of the voice message, or Hymes would have heard Marie say, “When you and Mickey get married, your dad and I will buy you the best wedding dress!”

Even though Giselle had told Marie she had broken up with Mickey, Marie refused to believe her.
Giselle understood Marie’s concern and love as an elder, but this situation made her a bit anxious.
Giselle secretly went upstairs to tell Maric. “Mom, Mickey and I really broke up. We’re not getting married.”
You’re just trying to trick me, so I won’t nag you about getting married!”
Marie was sure of her belief and didn’t trust Giselle’s words. “Alright, I won’t push you anymore. As long as you have at boyfriend, that’s fine… Just make sure you both think about marriage and don’t keep putting it off…”
Giselle felt the only way to convince Marie she had broken up with Mickey and found a new husband was to bring Hymes
home.
Hmm… Giselle pondered this issue, her heart aching. When should she consider bringing Hymes home?
