Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 59
Chapter 59
Giselle was so engrossed in her conversation that she didn’t notice the flecting emotion in Hymes‘ eyes.
In Giselle’s opinion, there wasn’t much difference between her and Hymes‘ jobs.
Their family backgrounds were slightly different, as 11ymes was a local from Reywing, which already put hirm ahead in
many aspects.
However, Giselle recalled that Marie had told her that the person she introduced her to was a friend’s coworker, and Marie’s friend worked as a live–in nanny, so Hymes and Marie should have similar occupations.
Giselle’s father, Lucas Ostry, had been a driver, and Marie had started learning how to make and sell snacks in the past two years, gradually improving and running a successful business.
As a result, they saved some money and owned a house in their hometown. Giselle believed that, although there was a gap, it wasn’t too significant.
So, it was a fairly equal match in terms of social status.
Though there was still a gap, Giselle also had her side job as a live streamer to make money. Once they could save up enough for a down payment on a house near the city center in Reywing, the difference between them would be more or less. bridged.
Giselle was very confident about their future together. Even though they got together due to a whirlwind romance, as long as they put their hearts into nurturing their relationship, who could say that they wouldn’t be happy in the future?
There might still be many issues to resolve, but if she faced them with Hymes, Giselle would have confidence and wouldn’t. be afraid.
“Hymes… I think we’re actually quite suitable for each other, so I’m looking forward to our future. I hope we can go even further together.”
Giselle occasionally wanted to share her thoughts with him and make him believe in their relationship even more.
Hymes‘ expression flickered, and he smiled faintly. “Yeah, let’s eat before the food turns cold.”
“Oh no! It’s all your fault…”
Hymes hid the complex emotions in his eyes, and Giselle didn’t notice the darkening of his mood after she insisted on compatibility of a couple.
Midway through their meal, Giselle went to the restroom, and Hymes paid the bill.
He then sent a message to a group chat with his close friends, asking: [Is it possible for me to go bankrupt in this lifetime?]
Andy replied: [?]
Neville also replied: [?]
Hymes then typed seriously: [I’m asking for real.]
Andy sent a voice message: [Alright, Mr. Giles, you want to go bankrupt? Let me do some calculations for you.]
[Even without considering the Giles family fortune that you could inherit, just think about how huge the amount would be if you converted all your assets into cash. Just your Pino Capital alone is managing tens of billions of dollars in private equity funds, not to mention how much money you have overseas… Do I need to do the math?)
Neville chimed in: Aside from your private equity funds, there are also the shares you hold in various major listed companies. If you were to sell all of them, you could top the list of the richest people next month. Even if you were to spend all that money, you wouldn’t be able to exhaust it in your lifetime.]

Andy continued: [If you don’t sell and still want to go bankrupt, all those listed companies would have to hit rock bottom. with no development potential or declaring bankruptcy.]
Hymes looked a bit worried as he had only ever known how to make money and had no experience in losing it.
Andy cruelly laughed: (I still manage a significant portion of your personal wealth, including annual profits from funds, bonds, and real estate. Do you need me to show you the financial report again?]
Hymes sighed. [No need.]
Going bankrupt wouldn’t be easy for him, unless he donated all his assets to charity.
But… the Giles family had set up trust funds for each descendant.
This money wouldn’t be easily accessed, and even if Hymes wanted to terminate the cooperation, it wouldn’t be possible.
So, the trust fund would transfer money into his account every year, and if he did go bankrupt or became poor….
The trust fund alone would allow him to live hundreds of times better than an average person.
In short, going bankrupt and becoming poor was almost impossible for Hymes.
Andy asked nonchalantly: [What’s bothering you, Mr. Giles?]
Without waiting for Hymes‘ response, Neville astutely sensed the truth: [It must have something to do with Giselle.]
[Oh, right… You pretended to be her blind date, the insurance salesman, because Giselle once mentioned on Twitter that she wants a partner from a similar background.]
Neville joined in the schadenfreude: [This is the result of one lie being covered by countless others. Now, Mr. Giles is on the edge of a cliff, about to fall.]
Andy sighed. [Who could have imagined that Mr. Giles would be troubled by such a dilemma?]
While others tried their best to make money, Hymes was curious about how he could go bankrupt.
Nowadays, it was not as easy to accumulate wealth as before, but Hymes still stood at a peak that others could hardly surpass.
Annoyed by their mockery, Hymes turned off his phone with a dark face.
But even knowing the consequences, he would still make the same choice if given countless opportunities.
Only in this way could he get closer to Giselle….
When Giselle returned, she saw Hymes‘ serious expression and asked worriedly, “What’s wrong? Is there a problem at work?”
“It’s nothing but just a minor issue.”
Giselle leaned on her hand and smiled. “Can you tell me about your work? I’m curious about what you’re busy with every day.”
“Mainly… dealing with clients.”
Those wealthy clients who had numerous assets to entrust to Pino Capital could barely be considered his clients.
Pino Capital had a vast scope, covering not only private equity investments with a minimum of a million dollars but also angel investments in major companies.
As the owner of Pino Capital, Hymes naturally had to interact with them.
“You must encounter some troublesome clients. Are they difficult to deal with?”
“Not really. The clients I’ve met have been quite reasonable.”
After all, they were eager to cooperate with Pino Capital, almost to the point of begging Hymes to give them a chance. How could they dare to challenge Hymes or cause him trouble?
Giselle nodded. “You must be lucky then…”
Just then, the food she was cooking was done, and Giselle’s attention shifted back to the meal.
Hymes breathed a quiet sigh of relief, narrowly escaping suspicion.
He realized he needed to learn more about the daily work of insurance professionals to avoid being exposed.
After finishing the barbecue, the two went home together. Giselle suddenly felt unwell after returning home that night, and Hymes even took her to the emergency room.
Unbeknownst to her, Giselle had become the center of attention on the live streaming platform that night….
