Mr. Powell Is Hunting for His Wife
Chapter 52: Anna Is a Fox Indeed

"Are you sure about it?" Diana looked at the woman in front of her calmly.

She realized that Ashley was so confident because she had a trump card.

"Why not?" Ashley said with a smile. "Anna, if you don't feel any sense of guilt, let's go to Mr. Powell's office for the confrontation." "Up to you," as she spoke, Dianna bypassed Ashley.

Ashley couldn't react for a moment.

"Ms. Carter, hurry up. I still have something to do after your matter is done. Please don't delay me from knocking off, OK?"

Upon hearing Diana's calm and casual voice, Ashley slightly changed her expression.

She wondered why Anna wasn't panicked at all.

She hurried to follow Anna.

Ashley had been working in Powell Group for several years. As the manager of the perfume department, although she met Brooklyn in person before, she seldom had the opportunity to report her work status in his office.

Sweat oozed in her palms. She became nervous.

Diana knocked on the door of the office. After hearing the man's familiar voice, she pushed the door open. Casting Ashley a glance, she said, "Ms. Carter, please."

Harper happened to be in the office as well. "Excuse me, Mr. Powell. Ashley wants to see you."

Brooklyn looked up at Ashley, who was standing in front of him nervously, frowning deeply.

"Ms. Carter, I didn't request to see you, did I?"

Finishing his words, Brooklyn looked down, continuing to read the financial statement in his hands.

Ashley's face changed between livid and reddish.

She had been working in Powell Group for several years, and she believed that no matter what, she should be given credit for hard work, if not for merit.

"Mr. Powell, I came here to report an important matter. The major perfume of our department this season is going to the market soon. It has been kept in the safe. But it went missing yesterday so suddenly!" Diana rolled her eyes expressionlessly.

Upon hearing it, Brooklyn put down the files from his slender fingers.

"I see. Ms. Carter, so, do you mean there's a thief in our company who stole it?"

"Yes! Only two persons in our company can open the safe of the perfume department. I'm one of them. And the other one..." Ashley paused a bit and continued, "It's you, Mr. Powell."

"Puff--" Diana just took a sip of water. Upon hearing Ashley's direct statement, she almost spewed water out of her mouth.

She hurriedly swallowed it, returning to smile.

She wondered if Ashley was out of her mind -- how could she speak in this way to her boss?

Did she imply that Brooklyn stole the perfume in his trust?

Brooklyn's knuckled finger gently knocked on the edge of the desk. "Ms. Carter, do you know what you are talking about?"

His warning tone made Ashley and Harper next to her shiver.

"The whole Powell Group belongs to me. A bottle of perfume? You do have the guts to say it."

Ashley was so freaked out that she trembled all over.

She tried her best to calm down. "Mr. Powell, you've misunderstood. I didn't mean you. I meant Anna!”

Ashley turned around and pointed at the woman, who was drinking water. "Mr. Powell, you've given Anna the card with the highest authorization of the company, so she could go back and forth in the perfume department as she wants. She could even open the safe behind others and take away the perfume!"

She obviously had underestimated Brooklyn.

He looked up and swept between Ashley and Diana with his sharp gaze.

Diana blinked, putting down the glass in her hands on the table, and turned around.

She had an innocent look as if she was saying, 'Mr. Powell, I haven't done anything. Really."

"Anna, was it true?" asked Brooklyn.

Diana helplessly walked to him. With one hand touching the desk, she leaned against the edge of the desk slightly.

"Mr. Powell, don't you know what kind of person I am? If I truly want to get the perfume of the perfume department, I can directly ask you for it. Why would I go there in person for taking away a bottle of perfume?"

Diana's voice was soft with a trace of amorous feeling.

Let alone men, even Ashley felt her bones went numb after listening to Anna.

She was angry and cursed Anna for being shameless. She and Harper were still in the office, but Anna started to seduce Mr. Powell aboveboard.

When Ashley was about to add something, she heard Diana's enchanting voice again.

"Besides, I can make the best perfume myself. Why would I bother to take away a bottle of perfume that means nothing to me?"

After Diana finished her words, she poked the desk gently with her finger. As if she was playing at being cute to Brooklyn, she added, "What do you say, Mr. Powell?"

Ashley had a complicated look on her face.

What Diana implied was that she looked down on the perfume blended by the perfume department and she could blend perfumes that were far better than it. How could a perfumer steal a bottle of perfume that she disdained completely?

The answer was obvious.

Harper covered his face.

Although he knew that Anna was super self-confident, what she said truly proved it again.

Brooklyn wasn't angry, but instead, he curled up his lips slightly.

"Ms. Carter, who blended the major perfume of this season?"

"It's me, Mr. Powell."

"Harper, go get all the perfumes blended by Ms. Carter in the past."

Right now, including Dianna, nobody knew what Brooklyn was planning to do.

Harper fetched all the perfumes that Ashley used to blend according to Brooklyn's command.

He wondered what Mr. Powell wanted to do now.

Harper put the perfume bottles on the desk.

Brooklyn cast a glance at the perfume bottles with different colors. "The necklace" from Dianna appeared in his mind unconsciously.

It was a simple bottle without any decoration.

Brooklyn's deep gaze stopped on Diana for a second.

She had an enchanting face with mature makeup.

He truly wanted to tear apart her disguise and see what on earth she looks like under her intentional pretense of maturity.

"Anna, go get your perfume from your desk."

Diana's pupils shrunk.

It turned out that was what Brooklyn was planning to do.

Diana slightly curled up her lips into a smile. Much to her surprise, Brooklyn was more capable than her in terms of being sarcastic.

She went to her desk and got her perfumes, putting them on the desk.

"Mr. Powell, shall I open them for you?" As she spoke, Diana opened her own perfume bottles and then Ashley's bottles one after another. Ashley watched Diana in confusion, wondering what she was going to do.

Harper was also puzzled.

Only Brooklyn curled up a deeper smile.

Among all people in the office, only Anna understood his purpose immediately.

He had to admit that Anna was quite smart in a lot of aspects.

She was so smart that Brooklyn wanted to keep this woman working for Powell Group forever.

After finishing it, Diana smiled at Ashley.

Suddenly, she felt sorry for this woman.

"Ms. Carter, let's compare our perfumes, shall we?"

Ashley's face was stiffened.

It wasn't until now did she realize that Anna hadn't prepared anything.

Anna was extremely self-confident in her capability.

From the beginning, Anna had planned to win against her upon her perfumes.

"Ms. Carter, I believe with your qualification, you could definitely differ which perfume is better, couldn't you?" said Diana with a smile.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
