Chapter 104

Chapter 104 Kiss Me, and I’ll Tell You

Nicholas led Nancy to the door and paused, turning around to face her. He said, “Close your eyes andgive me your hand.”

Curious, she inquired, “What’s with all the secrecy?” She then extended her hand, placing it gently. inhis palm. Her hand, small and fair, contrasted markedly against his larger, rougher one, emphasizingher delicate nature.

He firmly grasped her hand, his big palm almost entirely enveloping her smaller one. He asked, “Areyou ready?”

Surprisingly, she felt a hint of nervousness mingled with a tinge of anticipation. “Yes, I’m ready,” sheaffirmed with a nod.

“Now, close your eyes.”

“Okay,” she agreed, gently shutting her eyes. Her long eyelashes fluttered like miniature fans, endearing and charming.

With one hand still clutching Nancy’s, Nicholas used his free hand to open the door. As he observedthe perfectly executed surprise inside, he nodded in satisfaction. He then turned to her and whisperedtenderly, “You can open your eyes now.”

Eagerly, she exclaimed, “Okay! I’m opening them now!”

Perhaps driven by a hint of fear that her dream might vanish, she opened her eyes only slightly. However, upon beholding the grand, dreamlike, and profoundly romantic display before her, sheinstantly widened her eyes.

Her eyes sparkled with astonishment, struggling to accept the surreal reality laid out before her. It wasa scene she had only associated with dreams. She even questioned whether she was awake or stillimmersed in a dream. The sheer beauty of the sight overwhelmed her, making it seem surreal. Shekept her eyes wide open, almost afraid the enchanting spectacle might vanish if she blinked.

The room was filled with an incredible array of dolls spanning all shapes, sizes, and styles. Some werelarger than Nancy, exquisitely crafted and lifelike in every detail. Even the doll’s eyelashes. weremeticulously designed to appear authentic. Collections of more miniature dolls lined the room, includingher cherished favorites, and not just those famous during her childhood. There were also vintage dollsthat she had recently adored and limited-edition dolls from popular animations. They were now herebefore her, bringing her dreamy world to life. The room was a visual feast, every bit as magical as inher dreams.

“Nicholas, you must pinch me to wake me up,” she finally spoke, breaking the silence that had grippedher for so long.

Nicholas chuckled, leaned closer, and teased, “You’re not dreaming, my silly goose. Everything beforeyou is real.”

“Really?” Nancy remained incredulous.

He walked behind her and covered her eyes with his hands. Counting down silently, he began with“Ten.” As he reached “One,” he swiftly removed his hands. The room filled with dolls remainedunchanged, just as enchanting as before.

She enthusiastically confirmed, “It’s not a dream! It’s real. They’re all real.” She continued, “This isincredible. So many dolls, and they’re all my favorites! How did you manage to do this?” Her

excitement knew no bounds as she rushed into the room. This time, she no longer held back. Shehugged one of her beloved dolls and held it affectionately.

As she explored the world of dolls, Nancy resembled an adorable little bunny, hopping from one doll toanother, her radiant smile a testament to her sheer exhilaration. She couldn’t help but moveenergetically around the room, savoring every moment. With a doll clutched tightly in her arms, shemoved from one corner of the room to another, her face adorned with a brilliant, joyful expression. Herheart danced with happiness.

When she saw her most recent favorite, a limited-edition vintage doll that was incredibly hard to buy,she grabbed it and ran back to Nicholas.

“Whoa! You managed to replace this doll! Nicholas, how did you do it? I had no idea you were thisamazing!” Her joy was palpable, as was her admiration.

Observing her childlike admiration, mainly the shimmer in her eyes, he felt that all the effort had beenworthwhile. It seemed that no matter how challenging the journey had been, it was meaningful now.“Do you like this one?” he asked, one hand in his pocket, a satisfied smile gracing. his lips.

“Yeah!” Nancy nodded eagerly. “I love it so much! Its the doll I’ve been obsessed with lately. How didyou know that I liked it?”

“From…” Nicholas began. Then, he playfully added, “It’s a secret.”

Unable to contain her curiosity, she clung to his arm and playfully shook it. “Tell me! Tell me! You wereabout to tell me just now. If you don’t, it’ll drive me crazy.”

“Are you truly eager to know?” he teased.

“Yes, very eager.”

“Give me a kiss then.” Nicholas pointed at his check

She blushed, showing hesitation. After summoning her courage, she recalled something and decidedto be bolder. On her tiptoes, she leaned in, planting a gentle kiss on his check. Yet, just as she wasabout to withdraw, he quickly encircled her waist and engaged her lips in a passionate

kiss.

A few minutes later, Nicholas let go of Nancy. Her lips were rosy, as was her entire countenance.

“Meanie! You tricked me,” she exclaimed, lightly pounding her small fist against his chest.

He grabbed her hand and said with a sweet smile, “Yeah. How mean of me.”

“Now, will you tell me how you knew?” she prodded.

“It’s quite simple. I checked your Twitter and noticed you liked a tweet about this doll. So, I deducedthat you must like it.”

Nancy thought, Oh. So that’s why. Although she rarely spent much time on social media, she browsedthrough her accounts occasionally. She hadn’t expected Nicholas to pick up on such at subtle detail. Her heart warmed with gratitude. They said that a man who’s genuinely devoted to you can beaddictive, impossible to do without. It appeared that he belonged to that category of

men.

“So, are you satisfied with my gift, Mrs. Sallow?”

Her heart raced as she pondered the significance of his words. Throughout their marriage, she hadoften been addressed as “Mrs. Sallow” by the household staff and Lynn. Yet, he had never officiallyacknowledged her as his wife. However, was he finally recognizing her identity, addressing her as “Mrs.Sallow”?

“Did that slip out by mistake?” She looked at him, seeking confirmation.

He met her gaze with sincerity. “Nope. I was referring to you, Mrs. Sallow.”
