Chapter 169 Love Your Wife Dearly
Instead of replaceing a coffee shop to sit down, the duo stood beside the car.
Nicholas lit a cigarette and leaned against the car casually. Amidst the cloud of smoke, he said, “Goon.” Although his words were brief, his presence was intimidating. Others would surely have been.intimidated by his aura, but not Christian. He was not afraid of Nicholas.
“Nancy and I are just friends,” said Christian.
Hearing his words, Nicholas suddenly smiled. However, his smile was as cold as ice.
“As a man, do you think I’ll believe your words?”
Christian seemed to have expected his response and didn’t get angry. “You can doubt me all you want. After all, we are not friends. However, when it comes to Nancy, you shouldn’t doubt her. She’s yourwife, and as her husband, your responsibility is to love and protect her.” Then, he paused for amoment. In that split second, his gaze turned sharp. “You shouldn’t have doubted or hurt her, Nicholas.Only an incompetent man would mistreat his own wife.”
Wife?
Nicholas was taken aback momentarily before realizing that Nancy seemed to have not told Christianabout their divorce. At that moment, he suddenly felt fortunate about it. If it was possible, he wishedthat Christian would never replace out about it.
“If that’s what you think it is, stay away from her. I don’t want to have a man constantly eyeing my wife.I know what you are thinking, Christian.”
“I will keep my distance from Nancy, but… Christian looked at him and sounded firm. “I’m doing it forher sake, not because of your threats or warnings, and certainly not because I’m afraid of you. If youlove her, act like a man and love and protect her with all you have. If you don’t love her, it’s best to lether go. Don’t ruin her life.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t give you that chance,” Nicholas sneered.
“You better not.”
By the end of the conversation, it was clear that tensions were running high. In the end, the duo partedways furiously. It was an outcome they had long foreseen.
Ever since Nicholas left in anger the last time, he hadn’t communicated with Nancy for several days.
On Friday, the orientation for new employees at the hospital concluded. According to their tradition.there would be a group dinner for the new staff. The dinner took place in a luxurious private room.
It was said to be an incredibly expensive and lavishly decorated private club within the city. It was aplace that only those who had status could enter. Thus, everyone was bailled when they entered the

A few new employees asked with curiosity, “Ms. Jenkins, the company will cover the cost of this dinnerright? Will we have to pay for it ourselves? I’ve heard that the average cost here ts several thousand I

haven’t started working yet, so I can’t afford to eat here.”
A colleague chuckled and said, “Even if you’ve been working for a few years, you wouldn’t want tospend money to eat here. A single meal here would cost one month of your salary.”
When Jenell heard their questions, she explained with a smile, “You guys don’t have to worry about it.Today’s dinner is fully covered by the hospital. To be precise, Mr. Jadin will pay for it.”
“Mr. Jadin?” The eyes of a few particularly curious staff lit up when they heard Julian’s name. “Tell us,Mr. Jenkins. Why is Mr. Jadin treating us when we haven’t even met him yet?” they asked excitedly.
“Well, this is a coincidence. It’s said that due to a coincidence, Mr. Jadin had treated a group of newemployees to dinner. Later, everyone felt that it was unfair. Thus, being the generous man he was, Mr.Jadin made it into a tradition for the hospital. Every year, he’ll treat the new employees to dinner.”
“Wow, Mr. Jadin is so cool.”
“He is so generous.”
At that moment, the crowd began to praise Julian. Then, one of the new employees asked thequestion. everyone was concerned about. “Ms. Jenkins, can you tell us if Mr. Jadin will be here today?”
As soon as this question was asked, the entire room, especially the female employees, crupted incheers. They were waiting for Jenell’s answer eagerly.
Jenell smiled and replied, “You all are so infatuated with him. However, I can’t really say for sure aboutthis. Mr. Jadin had come a few times before, but not every time. He’ll usually drop by for a while if he isfree.”
Upon hearing this answer, the female employees secretly prayed that he would come by since theywere looking forward to it.
“Yeah. I heard that Mr. Jadin is very handsome and charming. I’ve only seen his pictures on thehospital. bulletin board. I really want to see him in person.”
Listening to the discussions, Jenell couldn’t help but share some inside information. She cleared herthroat and commented about Julian in a serious and formal manner. “Well, the rumors are indeed true.Mr. Jadin has always been the hospital’s benchmark, not only in appearance but also in professionalexpertise.”
The female employees were excited upon hearing this.
Suddenly, someone asked, “Ms. Jenkins, does Mr. Jadin have a girlfriend?”
As soon as this question was asked, there was an uproar in the room. Everyone was eagerly waitingfor an answer as they loved gossip.
Toni held Nancy’s hand and also seemed excited. T’m sure such a handsome man is already taken”
At that moment, Nancy suddenly recalled the conversation she had overheard in the coffee shop thatday. If she remembered correctly, it seemed like Julian’s mother was urging him to bind a girlfriend
I think he doesn’t have one, Nancy said casually

“Impossible. A man this outstanding must have women flocking to him. How can he not have agirlfriend? I’m certain he does. Toni was confident.
Nancy remained resolute. “I say he doesn’t. Want to bet one month’s worth of coffee on it?”
Upon hearing this, Toni thought she was sure to win. Thus, she immediately shook hands with Nancy.“Alright. It’s a deal. She added, “But don’t blame me for being ruthless when it turns out you’re wrong,Nancy.”
Nancy smiled and said nothing as she crossed her arms.
At this point, Jenell gave a knowing smile and replied, “Well, for someone as outstanding as Mr. Jadin,he definitely must not have one! All the female employees at our hospital say he belongs to all of us.”
“Wow. What a miracle! Mr. Jadin doesn’t have a girlfriend!”
“This is so unexpected!”
Everyone was in awe.
Toni, who was still holding Nancy, looked at her thoughtfully. “How did you know?”
“It was just a guess,” replied Nancy.
However, Toni was skeptical. “No, you must be lying. Come on, Nancy, spill the beans. Do you haveany insider information? Let me guess, you must be the secret daughter of a wealthy family, related tothe dean of our hospital or something. Oh my, what have I done? Have I unintentionally offended.someone influential? Please have mercy on me, Nancy.”
Toni had a fair complexion and a slender figure. With her exaggerated act, she had Nancy doubledover in laughter. Eventually, she decided to confess and reveal the truth to Toni.
