Mr. Williams Runaway Wife ( Amelia and William ) -
Chapter 11
- A Getaway.
Right from the first time Amelia had met Victoria, they had clicked and when Amelia’s mom died, Victoria had taken her in and treated her like her own.
For Amelia, Victoria was the one person she respected the most in life. She was a mother to her and more. Hearing that Victoria was unconscious gave her the scare of her life.
“Please, pick up,” Amelia muttered, chewing on her lower lip. The line went dead, and William did not pick.
Swearing, Amelia tossed her phone into the bag and walked towards her car.
Amelia tried to herself down as she walked towards the car. She needed to drive, and it wouldn’t be nice if something happened to her in a bid to get to the hospital.
What was it that could have caused Victoria to faint? She knew how much Victoria had tried to manage her health over the years.
Victoria never ate just anything. She paid special attention to her diet, cutting down on sugar and eating more salads and fruit.
It wasn’t until Amelia got to the hospital did she realize she had forgotten to pick up the documents she prepared with her. She left them in the sitting area.
After half an hour, Amelia arrived at the hospital. She said a quick prayer, wishing Victoria would be fine. At the lobby, Amelia asked after Victoria, introducing herself as family.
“Third floor, first room.” The receptionist told her, offering a smile.
Mouthing a thank you, Amelia hurriedly made her way to the elevator, and on her way up, she prayed it was a minor issue, and Victoria had woken.
“Mom, what happened? Why did you suddenly get hospitalized? Are you okay? I got a call earlier.”
Amelia was rambling. She threw all sorts of questions at Victoria without taking a break to catch her
breath.
Since Amelia and Williams got married, Victoria’s health had not been great. She regularly stayed at the hospital, and probably due to her old age, it declined even more.
“Calm down, baby girl. One question at a time.” Victoria joked in a bid to lighten the atmosphere, and
immediately Amelia enveloped her in a hug.
“I’m so glad you’re fine. Really.”
“Did I scare you a lot?” Victoria asked, parting Amelia on the back and she nodded.
“I’m sorry for scaring you, but I don’t think you have to worry yourself. It’s nothing serious. I probably fainted because I had to come for the checkup on an empty stomach. It is most likely hypoglycemia. My blood sugar level, you know. My body must not be used to late breakfast anymore

following how one trained it to eat early.”
“Mom, have you gotten in touch with William?” Amelia withdrew from the hug to sit at the edge of the bed, taking Victoria’s hand in hers. “I tried his line earlier, but he didn’t pick up.”
Victoria shook her head. Though William was her son, she would rather put a call through Amelia whenever something happened and this was because it was always hard to reach him. William wasn’t always available.
William was one of the leading entrepreneurs in the country. Be had his hands in everything, and this put pressure on him. He always had a lot on his plate and he was someone who loved a clean job, so he’ll make sure to oversee everything by himself.
Also, it got worse after his break–up with Chloe. He had immersed himself in work back then to get over her, and he almost couldn’t help it anymore. Working was now his escape from reality, and Victoria understood. She only wished there was some way she could help him.
“You look so beautiful today. You’ve always been beautiful, but it strikes me more today. You should always dress up like this more often. I know you do not like wearing makeup, but it makes you even prettier.” Victoria held Amelia’s hand and looked at her lovingly.
Victoria had been so caught up with Amelia’s questions that she didn’t notice her dress.
“Are you meeting someone today? You look really lovely.” She pressed.
At first, Amelia wanted to say she dressed up nicely for her divorce, but she could not bring herself to put Victoria’s health at greater risk. She could break the news of her divorce to her some other time.
“Mom, why don’t I get you something to eat?” Amelia asked, trying to change their topic of
discussion.
Getting the hint, Victoria smiled at her and nodded. “I’ll let you do that.”
Immediately Amelia left the room, she received a call from William and from his tone, she knew he was annoyed and trying to replace back his anger. It confused her, but she replied to his greeting calmly, expecting him to state the reason he called or why he had missed her call earlier.
But, she wasn’t prepared for William’s next outburst.
“If you don’t want the divorce, then tell me. Why toy with me by mentioning it and end up not showing up at the registry? Is it fun doing that?”
William’s voice and tone annoyed Amelia at the moment. How dare he try to turn it all on her?
“You’re blaming me right now? If you had gotten to the registry early, everything would have ended by now. I wouldn’t have to listen to this annoying voice of yours.‘
Amelia was pissed, and William was shocked. Never in his entire life had he been told that his voice was annoying. Instead, people have said they loved to hear him speak. Then he realized his mistake.
He had gotten her call. No, he missed it, and it was intentional. But here he was, calling and blaming her. Not even listening or caring to ask what it was that made her call him or got her absent from the

registry.

“I’ve checked the registry, but you weren’t there. So where are you?” William knew he was supposed to apologize, but he would do that in person.
“I’m at the hospital,” Amelia replied calmly, though she could feel her blood boiling.
“What happened? Is everything okay?” Now, William regretted not picking up her call. Was
everything okay with her?
“It’s not me. It’s mom. She fainted this morning and got hospitalized.”
“Amelia, you don’t have to dodge your way out of this. You can easily say you do not want a divorce. Why would she suddenly fall ill right when we were getting divorced?”
In the two years of their marriage, Amelia knew she had used Vicky to get closer to him, but she had not expected him to think this way.
She suppressed her anger and said, “If you don’t believe me, you can save yourself the stress of doubting by coming over and seeing for yourself. I could lie to you, but the doctors in the hospital
won’t.”
William fell silent. He knew he had just fucked up again.
“Which hospital is it? I’ll come right away.
“Come as soon as you can. The doctor mentioned something about getting surgery when I checked with him earlier.” She added after giving him details of the hospital and the room.
Amelia then went downstairs. She knew Victoria didn’t like takeouts, and bread was not advisable, so she settled for fruits. Watermelon and apples.
When she returned to the ward, Stephen was already there in the ward, talking to Victoria, and sitting by the edge of the hospital bed.
“Dear, you’re back. Did you bring me something delicious?”
“I got you fruits. I know you wouldn’t like takeouts, and I didn’t want to leave you alone for long. Otherwise, I’ll have gone home to make you something myself.”
Victoria nodded, smiling at Amelia’s thoughtfulness. “You do not have to bother yourself. “I’ll have Laura make something good for lunch.”
She couldn’t understand what it was that William thought Amelia was short of. She was kind, thoughtful, and respectful. What more could a man want?
