Bailey's pov

I was smart enough to not be so close to her as she made her way tothe bathroom. I didn't want her to see that I followed her in here, fearingshe may make a beeline for somewhere else.

I waited for five minutes before entering the bathroom.

I can hear her shifting around in the cubicle and I closed the doorbehind me lightly, leaning my back against it so she won't haveanywhere to leave. We needed to talk and if this was the lengths I hadto take to get my best friend back, I'd do it.

As I try to wait for her to be done, I took this as moment to gather mythoughts and think of a way to speak to her. My eyes locked on the coldtiles, raking my brain for ways to get through to Mira.

This can be the best chance and how many chances can I get afterthis? It had to be done now.

The sound of the flushing and gurgling of water pulled me out of mythoughts and made my heart race. I waited, not patient at all as Iscratch my arms in anticipation. I am uncertain of where this will go, butI know that today I will make her hear me.

When the door creaked open, I straighten and the determination almostwithered away when our eyes met. She isn't startled at all to see mestanding here waiting for her.

Ignoring me she walks up to the sink and opens the pipe.

" Mirabella.”

She stiffens but doesn't respond.

I let out a breath. * You know I won't let this friendship go. You're mybest friend Mira."

She closed the pipe, but her eyes remain on her reflection and herhand is still clutching the poor faucet in a tight grip. “ Was I your bestfriend when you slept with my brother, got into a relationship with himbehind my back and didn't tell me about it until I found out on my own?"She turns to me, her eyes hard.

" Mira-

"1 get it. You were scared to tell me about it. I get that part. But do youknow how fucking betrayed I felt knowing you constantly lied to me?Especially that same day I caught you two." She shook her head indisappointment. * I saw you, I ask you and you still decided to lie to me.You know why I didn't call that night to remind you of the sleepover atyour place?"

I stayed silent, knowing that answering her now wouldn't be fruitful forme.

"I knew something was going on. I saw the way he looked at you thenand I am so stupid to not have realized sooner. But that day sealed itand it showed me how you can lie to my face. You stared at me Baileyand you lied. And I had to replace out on my own. Your “best friend" had toreplace out that you were sleeping with her brother on her own." Her voicechokes.

" Makes me wonder how I can trust someone who looked at me directlywhile lying to me. What kind of best friend who promised to never lie toeach other, lies whilst staring directly in the eyes?"

I flinched, my stomach sinking.

She shakes her head. " I still stick to what i said, my brother isn'tcapable of loving a girl for long. I'm going to feel sorry for you when-"Don't be." I cut in, my voice cracking. " Don't be sorry for me." Ipushed off the door, completely forgetting that I didn't want her to getout.

" This jealousy you have against Kaleb Mira, needs to stop now." Iwhispered. Mira hadn't expected my words and stumbled back, hereyes going wide and her cheeks blushing with pink.

Then she school her features, hardening them into irritation and anger.* Jealous? Of who? My brother?" She pointed a finger at her chest, hereyes ablaze with disbelief. " Me? Mira? Jealous of Kaleb?" She faked asnort and giggle. * Why would I ever be jealous of my brother? Out ofeveryone, why would I ever be jealous of Kaleb?"

My brows lowered as I thought. " I get it now." I whispered, more tomyself really but it caught her attention. " I get why you're so pissedabout this now."

Her face pinches. " What do you get Bailey?" She gritted out, irritationtowards me and my words clear in her tone.

I nod, more to myself as I studied her with a tilt of my head. " You'vealways been jealous of him haven't you? You've been jealous becausehe was the more outgoing twin, the most popular, had the bettergrades, you felt as though he was always better. He always won."

Her eyes widen and her lips part but she said nothing so I took it asinvitation to say more. " You felt like he had everything Mira. He hadeverything except two things....or should I say two people?"

Her lips lined into a frown but she still does not utter a word. Icontinued. "There were two people he never had by his side that youhad. Me and Katrina. And now that me and Kaleb gave into ourfeelings, you feel like you've lost against him. You feel as though hetook me from you. One of those things you had all to yourself that youdidn't share with him. And now you feel like it's gone.”

The quietness was deafening for a long pregnant pause. Until Miraschooled her features and hid away her emotions. " Now you're justsaying anything Bailey. I've never been jealous of Kaleb."

I shook my head. " It's okay to think that way Mira. But you're wrong,Kaleb didn't take me from you. I'm still here.”

Mira's face screwed up and she snapped. " I don't care if he takes you, have fun with him while it still last!" She stormed forward, brushingpassed me but I stop her.

" Tomorrow is my birthday.” I said softly, turning around to see herhands were clenching the door handle tightly. I looked at her sadly eventhough she had her back towards me. " I won't try again after that day. That will be it. No more trying to talk to you. No more Mirabella. I can'tbe friends with a hypocrite."
