Sanford gently pulled her down and smiled.

“No, my private parts aren’t for just anyone to see.”

After a moment, he added, “If it makes you uncomfortable, we can switch to a male caregiver.”

“No need for that.

I’m not that petty.” Maggie quickly shook her head.

“Really?”

“Definitely.”

Maggie checked the time and pulled out the medicine bottles from the drawer.

“Time for your medicine,” she announced.

Sanford glanced at the bottles and frowned, “Oh, it’s time for me to take medication again.

I wish I could avoid them.”

Maggie laughed and handed him two capsules.

“Quit joking and just take them!”

“You’re feeding me,” Sanford said with a smirk.

Maggie gave him a look, placed the capsules in his mouth, then handed him a glass of water to wash them down.

Sanford’s brow furrowed as he swallowed the capsules.

Gently cupping the back of her head, he leaned in and softly kissed her.

Outside, Brian started the car, and the engine hummed to life.

“Heading to Jamir’s place now?” he asked.

“Yep,”‘ Rosalynn answered.

Jamir and his siblings lived in an old, worn part of the city.

Brian parked the car, then got out and gently guided Rosalynn into the building.

Without an elevator to use, they faced the challenge of climbing six flights of stairs.

Rosalynn, feeling the strain of her pregnancy, was a bit breathless from the climb.

“Do you want me to carry you?” Brian asked, concern clear in his voice.

“No, it’s fine.

We’re almost there,” Rosalynn said with a reassuring smile.

With Brian’s help, they made their way up the final two flights and finally reached the sixth floor.

Brian waited patiently for Rosalynn to catch her breath before he pressed the doorbell.

Soon, the door swung open to reveal a man with stubble, red swollen eyes, and a face etched with despondence.
