My Brother’s Mate
Chapter 24

Emily's POV

"The prophecy came from an Oracle a long time ago. It is about a girl who is born from three magical blood lines. Werewolf, witch, and vampire. Her blood with hold power to remake the world, or so we believe." "We?" I ask.

"There are certain people, like myself that believe you will remake the world, you are the beginning of something. We and those who believe that are called the Dawn of the Tribrid, or not so gracefully Tribrid worshipers." "But there are others that don't believe that, right?"

"Yes, there is a second part of the prophecy. The Oracle said the girl will bring with her a Great War, Great fire, and Great death. She is a warning to the end. The people who believe that are called the Blood of the Pure. They also believe you will end the world. We believe you don't create these event, but are more like a precursor to the events."

"Then there are the Blood Seekers, who believe your blood is the key to unlocking power within themselves. They believe they can harness the power in your blood for themselves."

"The man with the blue eyes." I whisper.

"Have you seen a blue eyed man?" Miranda asks in haste.

"Only in my dreams."

"Has he interacted with you in these dreams? Or was it just a vision?"

"He interacted with me on my last dream?"

"When was this?"

"Last night."

"I thought we had more time. We need to teach you magic and fast.""

"Miranda, I was told to ask you something. Something about your coven."

"By who?"

"Hiroen. I saw him in the woods. He said to ask you what happened to your coven. He said it will help me understand what I mean to people." Miranda looked upset at the memories flying through her mind.

"I will tell you, but it will need to be tomorrow. The sun is going down and I know you need to get back. Can you come back tomorrow? I will tell you and then you need to learn magic."

"We can come back tomorrow, but after that is the Alpha Announcement. We won't be able to come back that day." My mother says. Miranda stands and picks the book up from where I dropped it.

"Very well. You will need to read through the book and learn as quickly as you can. And let me give you a protection charm. I need you to stay as far away from the blue eyed man as possible. Ok Emily?" Miranda goes to a back room and comes back with a beautiful necklace. There is a beautiful moon stone wrapped in silver metal.

"Put this on. It should shield your magic and make you harder to replace for those looking for you." I could sense some hesitation from Miranda.

"What is it Miranda?" I ask.

"I am worried about your safety Emily. This man is a very dangerous and powerful man. I just thought we would have more time." Miranda glances over at my mother and then over to me.

"We will protect you. I will call for help." She tries to sound firm and confident. I put the necklace on and place my hand on hers.

"Thank you. I will be careful. I promise. We will be back in the morning." Miranda nods to me.

My mother and I head back to the pack land in silence. When we pull up to my parents house it is dark and the moon is bright in the sky. My mother pulls up and stops the car. We sit in silence without moving.

"Emily, I hate to ask."

"I won't tell dad." I cut her off.

"Thank you." We fall silent again. My mother and I never fight, it feels so foreign. I hate this feeling.

"Can I sleep here tonight?" I ask.

"Sure honey, your old room is still set up." I get out of the car and head inside, I hear my mother behind me. With each step I take the more tired I feel.

"Hey bug. What are you doing here?" My dad is on the couch reading a book. He puts it down the book. My dad has called me bug since I can remember. When I was young I thought is was silly, as a teen I thought is was stupid, now I think is cute. "Hey dad. Mom and I were out bonding. But I'm super tired and mom said I could crash here tonight."

"Of course you can. Get some sleep bug. I'll see you in the morning." I head for the stairs as my mother enters the house.

"Good night Emily."

"Good night mom." I head to my old room. I open the door to my room and it feels so different. The room has a bed and a dresser, just like it did when I slept here. But the walls are bare, no photos, nothing in the closet. Just the skeleton of the room I left behind. I closed the door behind me. I don't bother taking my clothes off, I just slip off my shoes and crawl into bed. I close my eyes and fall right to sleep.

Dream

I am in an empty white room. There is constant beeping noise.

"Where are you?" A deep taunting voice calls out. I look around the room and see a door. I walk out of the door and into the woods. Far in the distance I see someone walking around. "Where are you?" The voice sings. Suddenly the person is closer to me. It is the man with the blue eyes.

"Is someone hiding you from me?" I can not interact with him. I need to wake up. The man is looking all around the woods. He even looks in my direction, but doesn't see me.

"I know just who it is."

My bedroom door shoots open and I jerk awake. Mike is standing in the doorway panting and looking quite upset. My groggy eyes try to focus on him.

"Emily where have you been?" Yup, definitely angry.

"Sleeping." I tried to not sound annoyed but didn't work.

"Damn Emily. I have been worried. You were gone all day yesterday and all night."

"Why are you yelling? What time is it?"

"I am your mate Emily! You need to start acting like it." He hissed at me. FUUUUUCCCCKKKK THAT!

"GET OUT OF MY ROOM!" Mike looks surprised by my request.

"You are not going to burst into my room while I'm sleeping and start yelling at me and acting like some possessive jerk." I get out of bed and walk slowly towards the door as I'm talking.

"And tell me Mike, why do I only feel the mate bond when you are around me?" Mike rushes towards me and grabs my wrist. He leans into my face, rage painted on his face. Shock then panic falls over me. Is he going to hurt me? He squeezes my wrist tight, but not painfully. "Lower your voice." He says through clinches teeth.

"It's not what you think."

"Michael!" My dads voice says from the hallway. Mike releases my wrist and storms out of the house with saying another word.

"Are you ok bug?" My father asks. I was holding my wrist, but it didn't hurt. Maybe I am wrong about something. I need to get back to Miranda.

"Your mother is downstairs making breakfast. Why don't you go help her."

"Ok dad."

"And bug. Don't worry, all mates fight from time to time. You are growing into such a strong women. But don't push him away. He is your second chance mate after all. Don't get too many of those." I smile and nod at my father. But then I remember, Hiroen didn't say I could trust my father, only my mother. A chill runs up my spine at the thought that my father might have something to do with all of this. I go downstairs to help my mother with breakfast. "Hey mom, need some help?" I ask.

"Sure, can you scramble the eggs while I finish the French toast?" I walk over to the stove. I close my eyes and listen to see if anyone is around. I hear my father upstairs, and nothing else. "Mom, I think I was wrong." I whisper.

"What do you mean?" She whispers back.

"I don't think Mike is as involved as I originally thought. And." I pause, I don't want to say this out loud and for it to be true.

"What?" My mom whispers.

"I think dad is involved." My mom just looks at me trying to fully understand what I've said.

"Breakfast smells great, I'm starving." My father says as he walks into the kitchen. My mom and I stare at my dad for just a moment. My mom clears her throat.

"It should be ready soon. Can you set the table?" My father kisses my mom on the cheek and sets the table. We sit down for breakfast.

"What was going on with Mike this morning?" My mom asks. I go to speak but my father gets there first.

"They were just having a disagreement." My father says.

"Just agree with him." My mom mindlinks me.

"Yeah, it was just a disagreement." I smile. My father smiles back.

"What are your plans today dear." My mom asks my father.

"Finally security plans for the Alpha Announcement tomorrow. So I'll be home late."

"Should I make dinner, or will you be too late for that?"

"I'm sorry honey, I will be too late for that."

"No problem. Emily and I have hair and nail appointments so one more day of us bonding." My mom is a freaking rockstar.

"We'll make sure to keep in touch with Mike. I think that was why he was upset."

"I will dad."

"Good, well breakfast was wonderful. But I better head off. I'll see you tonight." My father kisses both my mom and me on the top of the head and leaves out the front door.
