My Brother’s Mate
Chapter 84

Arthur's POV

Finally we have arrived. I was tired of traveling.

"Should we set up camp?" Gavin ask. i***t! why would we wait.

"No, we have no time for that! We need to send in the first wave, NOW." I say.

"But the men, they are tired."

"Then the second wave can rest. But we have no time." I demand.

"I agree with Arthur. We really don't have time to wait." Gesenia surprises me. I believe this is the first time she's ever fully agreed with me, I'm almost touched. Gavin is obviously taken aback from Gesenia response. They have always been closer and it's obvious from his facial expression that he is bothered by this. But he recovers quickly.

"Very well, I will give the order." Gavin says. Gavin is in charge of our military for the most part. I have chosen not to be directly connected with the military, I couldn't stand being around all those soldiers.

"Don't let it go to your head." Gesenia says to me after Gavin leaves. Gesenia works more in public relations. She is connected with all the covens, packs, and hives. I also chose to stay away for the masses. We watch as the first wave of soldiers head out towards what we believe is Luther's hideout. Suddenly explosions throughout the forest and the trees come crashing down on the soldiers. The soldiers try and get out of the way, but most are too late. "What is happening!" I cry out.

"It looks like our overly tired soldiers are walking into a booby traps that we didn't have time to scout before hand." Gavin says arrogantly.

"Send in the second wave." I demand. Gavin looks at Gesenia, she doesn't say anything, but gives him a look of agreement. Gavin huffs away. We watch our second wave of soldiers go towards the hideout. They get past all the fallen trees and keep heading in. Suddenly the ground beneath the soldiers give out and I watch as they disappear into the ground.

"Ahh! This is ridiculous." I shout. Gesenia actually started to laugh.

"What on earth can be funny?" I ask.

"It's the first time I've agreed with you. Haha and it went horribly wrong. Haha." She's gone mad. She is laughing hysterically.

"Let me guess, next wave?" Gavin comes and asks. Making Gesenia laugh even harder.

Luther's POV

I finally leave Emily's room and head to the front.

"Bethany." I shout.

"They have hit our traps." She says.

"How did the traps do?" I ask.

"They took out two waves." She says proudly. This actually perks me up, we might have a chance. I look out at the army at our doorstep and my heart sinks. I sigh.

"I didn't say it took out their armies. Atleast they didn't bring the dragons." Bethany says.

"Is that another wave? Do we have more traps?" I ask hopeful. She gives me an apologetic look. I'm taking that as a no. The next group is big, wait it's the whole army. "They are sending everything they have at us." Bethany says.

"Here we go." I say. I see our army standing ready to take on the Pures. I dash out front and shoot a blast of white fire. It disintegrates at least 12 men. I cast a confusion spell on a group of wolves running towards me they pause and Bethany's group takes them out. We're not going down without a fight.

Liam's POV

The Pures' army is barreling towards the Seekers' army.

"Get into position. Once the battle begins we need to head in there fast." Josh says. I just nod.

"I don't see the dragons." I say.

"They might be holding back. But I bet they'll show up soon." He says. I hear the slashing of swords and armor coming from the hideout. The two armies have merged into one mass.

"Let's go." Josh says. The team and I make our way to the back of the hideout. We stay low and covered to not draw attention to ourselves. We creep along and reach the back of the building. "Now what?" I ask. Josh points to a door.

"We're going to rush in and clear a path for you. We don't know where she is and we are hoping most everyone is out front fighting. We will leave a few men behind to clear our exit." Josh says.

"One, two, three." Josh says and on three they open the back door and rush inside, I follow behind them. Emily, where are you? The inside is just a bunch of rooms and hallways. They start checking rooms. I sniff the air to try and replace her, but I can't smell her. Surprisingly we only run into a few people left in the hideout on the first floor. We make our way up the stairs and I see a door with an actual guard.

"It has to be that one." I say to Josh. They overpower the guard and we break into the room. EMILY! I see her laying on a bed. But she's surrounded by metal bars.

"We need to replace a way to get her out." I say to Josh.

"Check the guards for a key." Josh tells one of the guys. I'm so close to her. Looking at her not breathing is unreal. One of the guys comes back with a set of keys and we unlock the door. I hurry inside and touch Emily. Her skin is cold.

"We have to go." Josh says. I tuck my arms under Emily and pick her up. I carry her out of the cage and into the hallway.

"Stop right there." There is a man standing in the hallway with two other men. They are blocking our exit. "Let us pass." Josh says.

"Not a chance." The man says. Josh doesn't wait and lunges at the man. Mid lunge he shifts into his wolf and goes for the man's throat. I hold on to Emily tighter. Two members of my team go for the guys standing next to the man. There is so much commotion I am convinced more will come. That's when I hear a roar from outside. Even inside I can hear it's flapping.

"Dragon!" I yell. We need to get out of here, and fast. I look around and see a window, but we are on the second story. I look back and Josh is definitely winning his fight, I see him take a chunk out of the man's neck. The smell of blood fills the air. The other two are doing fair. The roaring gets louder. I see flames shoot by the window.

"We have to go!" I shout. Josh looks up. The two men go down and clear a path. I jump over the body left in the hallway and follow Josh down the stairs. We run down the hallway and towards the back door. We finally get out of the house. And I don't stop running until I reach Angela.

"Emily!" She yells. I bring her over and Angela looks over her body. Not a scratch on her. She's just laying there, still, not breathing. She runs her hand over her hair. A loud explosion draws our attention back to the battle. The house we were in is on fire and one of the dragons on the ground not moving.

"Cyran shot the arrow into the dragons mouth. It exploded and took half the dragons head off." Miranda says. Marcus is aiming his arrow at the second dragon.

"As soon as the second dragon is gone, we need to get out of here." Miranda says.

"Where will we go?" I ask.

"Just follow me! I know a place. We have men and supplies. We will be safe, for a while. When she wakes up, the world will be different." Miranda says. Marcus shoots his arrow but not quick enough. The dragon breathes his fire and ignites the crystal too soon. The massive explosion sends Marcus flying back at least 100 ft. His body shoots back but then slowly floats down. He's knocked out cold. I see some witches rush over to him. They must've been the ones to break his fall. The witches pull out some potions and before I know it Marcus is up on his feet again. He says something to the witches and the break off in different directions.

"What is he doing." I say to myself.

Marcus runs behind the dragon. The witches he was talking to start shooting bursts of magic at the dragon's head. The dragon breathes in quickly and releases it's fire onto the witches. Most of them managed to get out of the way of his fire, but not all of them. As the dragon is breathing it's fire Marcus shoots it in the back of the head with a spell. Then he throws the last arrow into the air. The dragon stops and turns its head. The dragon breathes in. Marcus is standing still he's not even trying to get out of the way. "Marcus! Get out of there!" I hear some people shout. I look over at Cyran and he rushes over to try and save Marcus in time. The dragon is still breathing in. Then I see it. The arrow! Marcus is guiding it through the air and into the dragons mouth. Not a second later The dragon releases it's fire, igniting the crystal and ripping its way through the dragon's throat. An explosion of fire and dragon guts fly out in every direction. Cyran must've grabbed Marcus in time because I can't see him anymore. We all cheer as the dragon's headless body crashes to the ground. Marcus and Cyran return right up next to me. Marcus is hurt. I see his Mom tending to his wounds.

"We need to leave." Miranda says. She dashes away

"Follow me" I hear Miranda whisper in my ear. I turn my head but she's not there. How is she doing that? Must be a magic thing.

"Cyran, take Emily and go!" I hand her to him and Cyran dashes away in the direction Miranda went. I shift and run after them as fast as I can. Angela isn't far behind me. We all run away and leaving the two armies to fight. A couple people followed behind us, but Josh and few others attacked, I think we managed to do it! Thank Goddess Emily is safe. I can't wait to look into her eyes again.
