My Elf Soulmate -
Chapter 11
"It's way too early." I groaned as I stuffed my face into my comfy, cushiony pillow.
"Don't you want to come to work with me anymore?" He asked to which I shook my head, making Paxton laugh in amusement. "But I was looking forward to going to work with my soulmate for once, plus I won't be long an hour max." He said trying me persuade me to wake up.
"Too... tired." I groaned out in my husky morning voice.
"Okay then, I guess that you don't want to see the teleportation machine that we've been working on." Paxton said nonchalantly as he made his way to the door, knowing that he had caught my attention.
"Okay I'm up," I said lifting my head from the pillow. "You play one dirty game, Paxton," I said quickly hopping off of the bed before the sleep got to me again.
"Good morning, Sweetheart." He said with a beautiful beaming smile, one that seemed to brighten up my day.
"Paxton, you seem like a morning person?" I said making fake shivers of disgust.
"I actually am, my love," He said, his chosen term of endearment causing butterflies to flutter away in my stomach. As if he had realised what he had called me I watched as his face dropped and panic splashed onto his face. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that, I didn't mean to move so fast, please..." He said just for me to place a finger on his lips in order to shush him. I couldn't help but to take note of how soft Paxton's lips were as my finger lay on his slightly parted lips, warm air gently caressed my finger as he gently let out a gust of air. I couldn't help but to bite and slightly lick my bottom lip as the unexpected urge to press my lips onto his took over. I just wanted to feel just how soft they would feel against my own.
"It's okay, Pax, I'm okay with it, I understand that your people are affectionate and everything and I don't want to completely stop you from doing things that are natural to you, especially things like endearments." I said as my noise accidentally brushed against his. I watched as relief flooded across Paxton's face as he slowly nodded. It was at that moment that I felt slight pressure against my index finger making me blush but thanks to my olive skin, it wasn't that apparent. I slowly removed my finger from Paxton's lips feeling the need to replace the finger with my lips but restrained myself and instead walked to my bathroom to take a well-deserved shower.
When I was done dressing up I went downstairs to replace Paxton finishing up on breakfast.
"You look beautiful," He said referring to my plain casual outfit, which consisted of my light blue jeans and an off-the-shoulder long-sleeved pink top that clung to my figure.
"Thank you. How will we be going to your workplace?" I asked as I sat down on one of the floating chairs and looked at the pancakes that were in front of me.
"I called a car for us." He simply said as he finished making the sausages.
"Thank you, breakfast smells and looks great." I said and watched as Paxton smiled and gestured for me to dish up for myself, which I gladly did.
After breakfast, we went outside just as a floating car with wings flew in our direction and landed outside. The floating car looked so much like a floating carriage to be honest, except it had the build of a car.
"Flaxi for Mr Woods." A man dressed like a driver said, and from the wings that I saw, I could tell that he was a fairy.
"Yes, thank you," Paxton said to the driver, who nodded and then jumped into the car. "This is a Flaxi, it's like your earth taxi except with wings, a flying taxi to put it simply," Paxton explained to me as I looked at the flying contraption which could easily end my life if it happened to fall out of the sky. "Don't worry, it's completely safe, and even if it wasn't, I'll be there to make sure that nothing happens to you." Paxton said, sounding so sincere that it made my insides flutter.
I got into the car and watched as we swiftly flew away. For some reason, it all made me anxious until I felt Paxton lacing his fingers with mine to provide some sort of mental and emotional support. I turned to face him to replace him looking out the window with a slightly flushed-looking face, making me giggle at his cuteness. He really was adorable, blushing just because he was holding my hand. Deciding to be a little naughty, I leaned closer to him and watched as his face turned over to face me. I continued leaning in until I was a breath away, Paxton's breath seemed to hitch as his eyes widened and his lips slightly parted. I leaned over and kissed the side of his lips, making electricity shoot through my entire body as I pulled away, but not too much, and looked at his flushed face.
"You look so cute when you're flushed." I whispered into his ear before I completely pulled away and admired my work. Paxton's face was red with his blush and he looked so flustered, his breath seemed rugged, making me smirk as I leaned my head onto the headrest and closed my eyes with a smile resting on my face. Of course, I could feel Paxton's lingering glance on me but he said nothing, so I said nothing and quietly made our way to our destination.
"Thank you." Paxton said, sounding more composed as he closed his small hologram screen, and we both headed out of the car. I watched as the car flew away, and then I turned my attention to the building behind me. It didn't look any different from a regular building, to be honest, it had large glass windows, but I couldn't see anything inside the building from where I stood.
I began walking towards the entrance of the building with Paxton right next to me. When we got inside the building, I was met with the buzzing life of people as they ran or flew around the place.
Paxton linked our fingers together and pulled me towards a wall with a circle drawing on it, he lifted his hand as sparkle-like things surrounded it, and this caused another room to appear from the other side of the circle-like drawing, I stood astounded by the sudden forming of a room until I was tugged into it by Paxton.
"Alright so this is my personal office," He said gesturing to the room that we were now in. "Please feel free to do anything that you want, you can be as comfortable as you like in here." He said as he went to sit by his rectanglular floating table.
"Okay, so this is a pretty almost completely normal building, where are the rest of your team members and when will I get to see your teleportation thingies?" I asked as I looked at the pictures in Paxton's office, but the one that really caught my attention was the picture of me. I turned to face Paxton to replace that he was already looking at me.
"When did you even take this picture, Pax?" I asked as I ran my fingers over the frame of the picture.
"I took it the day before yesterday, magic makes things happen quickly so you didn't even notice when I took it," Paxton explained as he looked at the picture with so much love. "How about I show you our latest inventions?" He asked as he stood up from his chair and moved over to a wall with another circle. When I walked in through the circle it felt as though I had walked into a pretty big workshop.
"Are teleportation devices what you and your team mostly specialise in?" I asked Paxton as I looked at a man opening up what looked like a portal and walking into it. The portal closed and then a couple of seconds later, the portal reopened, and out came the man now holding a jacket as proof of his travels. Another man threw a small box-shaped thing in front of him and we watched as a portal opened again.
"Not exactly. For one our biggest project was the fantasy app and through it, we realised that the was a need for more forms of transportation that lead to your world. In the olden days, people traveled for about 2 days until they reached the barrier entrance and exit but then the king of the time said that the whole entrance thing was dangerous because if humans continued to look for whatever things that they were looking for, they could possibly one day replace the barrier. Another con was that the entrance and exit made the barrier weaker so the king decided to seal off the barrier. We then decided to try and replace another solution to the problem and that solution was teleportation. However, teleporting started out with having a huge impact on people who teleported, it had a couple of...defects. My team's job is to improve on the and to make it more safe to teleport and we have improved if you consider the fantasy app teleportation but there are still things that need to be improved upon." Paxton explained with so much passion that anyone would be able to tell that he loved what he did.
"You really love what you do, I can tell." I stated and watched as he nodded with a smile of contentment.
"Okay, I would let you experiment with the devices but I don't think that it would be wise to just yet. They are not completely ready to cater for human teleportation and I don't want you getting sick." Paxton said as he walked towards a small box, he picked it up and opened it, inside there were a couple of jewelry sets and other small ball-like objects.
"What are those?" I asked Paxton.
"Teleportation devices, but these were created specifically by me. They are practically stable but like many of the current teleportation devices they can only safely teleport you to a nearby place, they are not ready for trips like the one that you might want to take," Paxton said scratching his throat and looking at me with a pained expression which he tried to quickly wipe off with a smile. "Anyway, I would like you to meet my friends." He said as he led me to a girl and a guy who were busy working on a couple of bracelets that were on the table in front of them.
"Good morning, Paxton." Said the girl as she looked at Paxton with such a large smile. Her eyes seemed to twinkle at the sight of him, but then she saw me and I watched as her smile slightly dropped and became a little forced.
"Good morning Milly, Good morning Josh," Paxton greeted his friends. "I would like you to meet Roseanne, my soulmate." He said with his eyes softening as he looked at me.
"It's nice to meet you." They both said in unison.
"It's nice to meet you guys too." I said not knowing what else to say to them.
"Okay so I just wanted to check on the progress of the bracelets," Paxton stated in a businesslike tone, one that I had never heard him use in the couple of days that I have known him.
"They are doing pretty well, I think that tomorrow we can do the trial runs." Josh said with just as much passion as Paxton.
"That's great to hear. Seeing as how everything seems to be going smoothly let me not be in your way. I'll be off now, but I'll be back next week to start working again." Paxton said making me wonder if he had been at home so often just because he was staying with me.
"Alright boss, the place isn't the same without you." Josh said and Milly just nodded. Paxton just laughed at his friends and then laced our fingers together.
"You know how it is." He said as he smiled at me and I smiled back at him.
"We completely understand, now be off, you're interrupting our work, we'll see you next week." Josh said shooing us away which made Paxton laugh in amusement but he obliged nonetheless. We made our way out of the workshop and out of the building where I saw a Flaxi waiting. We climbed in and it flew us straight home.
