Chapter 1041 Tired

Chapter 1041 Tired

Yeah, they're not even step-parents. Why would they treat theirbiological daughter like this?

Ayan made a faint hum, his expression deepening. He didn't voice histhoughts but just looked at Fletcher Talia. “I'll check on Cami andGrandpa.”

"Sure, go ahead. Comfort Cami as much as possible, don't let her besad. If the Armstrong family treats her badly, we should treat her evenbetter, understand?”

“I do," Ayan said with a faint smile. He then headed towards the roomof the old Simpson.

With Ayan gone, only Talia and Fletcher remained in the hall.

Fletcher calmly said, "I wonder what the Armstrong family will do aftertoday."

"Are you worried they'll continue spreading rumors like they did thismorning?"

“It's not out of the realm of possibility.” Fletcher had a seriousexpression, and his voice was low and deep. "I'm not so concernedabout their actions endangering the Simpson family or Simpson Group.Simpson Group has adhered to the rules for so many years and hasn'tdone anything out of bounds. Even if they want to target SimpsonGroup, it can withstand an investigation. I'm just worried about whatthey might do to Cami.”

"What can they do? Cami has Ayan with her; they wouldn't dare.”

“It's always good to be cautious." Fletcher's face grew even darker, andhe recalled the advice given to him by the old Simpson. His mooddarkened even further.

However, Talia didn't notice his unease. She simply furrowed her browslightly and spoke in a dispassionate tone, “I won't discuss it with you.I'm going to check on Timmy. I wonder if he's asleep at this hour?"Since Timmy was entrusted to Talia, she had devoted most of her timeto him. It didn't mean she lost her personal space, but instead ofattending various gatherings alone as before, she now took Timmy withher. The other wives observed this and grew envious. They began torush her to get married and have children and become grandparents.Talia's friends also loved Timmy very much, and their affection wasgenuine. This made Talia wonder: "Look at the Armstrong family. They're here at our house, but they haven't expressed any interest inseeing Timmy. To them, where is Cami, and where is Timmy? That'swhy I'm a hundred percent against letting Cami go with them. Thesepeople are only concerned with their interests, so they can't possiblytreat Camille and Timmy well.”

The more Talia thought about it, the more she felt this way. Who doesn'tcherish their grandchildren? After all, they are the children of their owndaughter. Shouldn't they love them even more? Every time she thoughtabout Brody and Page's expressions, it made her uncomfortable. Shesilently told herself that she had to be doubly good to Camille andTimmy.

Talia was indeed a person with a good heart.

In the old Simpson's bedroom.

After Camille had accompanied the old Simpson back to the room, theold Simpson had Kit get some water and close the door. The room wasleft with only the old Simpson and Camille.

The old Simpson sat in a armchair, and Camille took a seat on a stool. She gazed at the old Simpson and asked, "Grandpa, are you okay? Doyou feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

The old Simpson shook his head and looked at Camille. "Cami, havethey been trying to contact you a lot lately?"

Camille was slightly puzzled by the old Simpson's question but noddedtruthfully. "Yes, they did reach out, but I blocked them. So, I can'tcontact them, and it's quite challenging even if I wanted to."

The old Simpson responded, "That's good. As long as you're not beingmistreated, there's no need to worry about others’ opinions and feelingsall the time." His words showed his partiality and protection for Camille.Camille nodded gently and spoke softly, "Grandpa, don't worry. I willtake care of myself. If anyone bullies me, I will tell you, okay?"

The old Simpson was satisfied and nodded in agreement. "Good, it's apromise.”

Camille responded promptly, “Yes, it's a promise.” She was concernedfor the old Simpson and asked, "Grandpa, are you really okay?"

The old Simpson reassured her, "I'm fine. Although I may be getting oldand my health isn't the best, I can still take care of you."

Camille smiled and said, "You can protect not only me but also theentire Simpson family!"

The old Simpson always enjoyed chatting with Camille, even if theirconversations were mundane. He found happiness in talking with her.Thinking about today's events, Brody and Page's reactions, and theonline rumors they had spread, the old Simpson's face turned unsightly. He frowned deeply, his expression growing cold. The old Simpson'seyes concealed something significant, making his emotions highlyunstable.

The old Simpson didn't immediately share his thoughts but looked atCamille with a complex expression. She noticed his uneasiness andasked, "Grandpa, why are you looking at me like that? Are you feelingunwell?"

Camille was deeply concerned for the old Simpson, and he shook hishead but replied in a low voice, "Cami, you don't need to take theirwords to heart. Don't trust the Armstrong family; their words are notreliable.”

This was the first time Camille had heard the old Simpson express sucha sentiment. Even though they had discussed the Armstrong family inthe past, he had never explicitly advised her not to believe them.Camille was taken aback, knowing that the old Simpson wasn't the kindof person who would intentionally badmouth others behind their backs.Furthermore, given his age, he had no ulterior motives. His words hadonly one outcome: he genuinely cared for Camille. They also impliedthat the Armstrong family was genuinely untrustworthy.

While Camille was aware of this and didn't trust the Armstrong family, the old Simpson's words still surprised her.

Camille chose not to inquire further but simply nodded, saying,"Grandpa, you don't have to worry. I understand. I know how to handleit, so don't worry about me."

The old Simpson remained concerned, saying, "You have a soft heart. While you may say you can protect yourself, when faced with a realsituation, you might soften. Cami, even though the Armstrong family ispart of your family, let me emphasize this: don't believe everything theysay. If you have any doubts, come and ask me, okay?"

His words carried a significant implication, and Camille sensed thatthere was more to them than met the eye. She wondered if she wasreading too much into it.

Camille was puzzled by the old Simpson's words and couldn't makesense of what he was hinting at. Nonetheless, she nodded inagreement.

As their conversation continued, a knock on the door interrupted them.Ayan entered the room, his gaze first landing on Camille and then onthe old Simpson. After assessing their expressions and ensuring thateverything was normal, he said, "Grandpa, are you tired? If you are,you should rest soon, okay?"

The old Simpson wasn't pleased with Ayan's words, and his gazeturned stern. He retorted, "Do I look tired to you?"

With a light hum, the old Simpson glared at Ayan, his stern expressionclear.

Camille saw this and almost laughed but restrained herself, knowingthat Ayan could be vengeful. Laughing now might lead to her ownpayback later.

Camille lowered her head to hide her facial expression from Ayan andremained silent with her lips slightly pursed.

Ayan didn't speak and simply stared at the old Simpson with a furrowedbrow. He glanced at Camille from the corner of his eye. As a result, there was no immediate response.

The old Simpson expressed his discontent. "You don't even want torespond when I'm talking to you? You plan to deal with this on yourown? Have you considered that believing their words without questioncould lead to trouble for both Cami and you?"
