Chapter 1066: Slander

The content did not explicitly mention Grace's name, but Camille knewthey were talking about Grace.

She quickly replied with a simple "Okay" and then continued her work. With Ayan away from Hance City, Camille spent her entire day at thecompany. She had her meals with Sienna, making Sienna playfullycomplain, “I suspect I'm just Mr. Simpson's stand-in. As long as Mr.Simpson isn't with you, I have to fill in."

Camille smiled and didn't say anything, but her good mood was hard toconceal.

However, good moods often invite those who want to spoil them. Justas they were about to leave the office in the afternoon, Page showedup again.

This time, she didn't directly come into the office but waited downstairsin the office building.

When she saw Camille and Sienna leaving together, she quicklywalked over. She looked at Camille with a smile and said, "Cami, areyou done with work?"

Camille's expression instantly turned blank, and she looked at Pageindifferently, her footsteps coming to a halt.

Camille silently stared at Page, not saying anything.

But Page didn't mind. On the contrary, she took the initiative and said,"Cami, you don't have any plans for later, right?"

Camille glanced at Sienna, who was beside her, and Sienna quicklychimed in, "We've made plans to have dinner together."

Page just smiled and said, "Miss King is no stranger, and you're suchgood friends. We can all have dinner together."

They had dinner together last night, and now Page wanted them to eattogether again. Camille wasn't willing.

However, before Camille could speak, Page took the initiative and said,“I want to visit Timmy. I've already made an appointment with yourmother-in-law. We'll have dinner at the Simpson's mansion tonight.Since you have plans with Miss King, why don't you invite her to join usat the Simpson's mansion?"

Page's words made Camille's eyebrows involuntarily furrow, herexpression turning icy. Her voice revealed her displeasure as sheasked, "What do you mean? Did you ask for my consent before goingto the Simpson's mansion?"

Camille's emotions were getting stirred.

Page, however, remained unfazed, and her response was remarkablycomposed. She looked at Camille and said, “I'm just going to theSimpson's mansion for dinner. I want to see Timmy, and I've arranged itwith your mother-in-law. "Cami, I even came here to pick you up,wanting to go with you and also seeking your advice on what gift tobring for Timmy. Can't you even give me this opportunity?"

Page wore an innocent and aggrieved expression, as if Camille's wordshad wounded her. But Camille was well aware that she couldn't be hurtby such words.

Camille let out a disdainful snort and spoke in an icy tone, "Do youthink you need this opportunity? You don't actually need it. You're onlydoing this for your own benefit and agenda. I thought we were clearenough. You want me to join forces with you against him. I haven'tagreed, so you're pressing me so hard?"

Camille stared at her indifferently, her eyes filled with coldness.

Page was slightly taken aback and then calmly replied, “I don't thinkthat way. I do hope you'll agree to my proposal, but I've given you timeto consider. I've also said I genuinely want to change. Timmy is yourchild, and you're my daughter. Is it wrong for me to care about mygrandson?"

“I don't need it, and neither does Timmy. We don't need your kindness. How you treated me before is how you should treat me now. I feel likeit's destined to be this way between us, unchangeable. So, why not justmaintain the way it was before?" Camille's emotions were running highbecause this concerned Timmy, and she couldn't help but be emotional.Even though Page hadn't done anything and merely wanted to visitTimmy, Camille wasn't willing.

Timmy was almost two years old now. Why hadn't Page thought aboutbeing good to Timmy before this? Why did it only occur to her now? Itseemed purposeful, didn't it? Did Page think that by being good toTimmy, she could make Camille soften up and agree to thecollaboration she proposed?

As this thought occurred to Camille, her expression became even lesspleasant.

Page could treat her as she pleased, but she couldn't use Timmy.

In fact, Camille had another thought, but she didn't voice it because shewas afraid. She was afraid that Page hadn't thought about it, but evenmore afraid that Page's purpose was exactly what she was thinking. She could only control her emotions. Her tone became less fierce asshe said, "I will consider the collaboration you proposed. It's been thislong; you don't need to rush me in these few days, right? Or is theresome hidden secret behind your urgency?"

Page maintained calm and replied, "Of course not. I just want you tosee my sincerity. I'm not just saying it; I genuinely want to be good toyou and change our mother-daughter relationship. Do you really wantus to be estranged for the rest of our lives, Cami? I'm your mother. Ican't not care about you. Something held me back before, but now, Iwant to change. Just give me a chance, and I'll take care of the rest.”Page circled back to her original point, igniting the emotions thatCamille had wanted to control.

But Camille didn't let her emotions show. She just looked at Page coldlyand said, "You're going to the Simpson family for dinner, you want tosee Timmy, what do you think you can gain from that?"

"I don't want to gain anything. I just want my daughter to see mysincerity."

Camille chuckled softly and said, "Sincerity isn't something to beshowcased. If it's visible, it's not sincerity. So, are you sure you wantme to see your sincerity and not just a performance you're putting onfor me?"

Page looked at Camille somewhat helplessly and said, "Cami, you'reoverly cautious. I haven't done anything. I just want to be good to you.Is that something you can't accept? Everyone makes mistakes at times, and I'm willing to correct mine now. Just give me a chance. Why be sostingy with me?"

"Say what you want. I don't care. I won't allow you to go to the Simpsonfamily," Camille said and began to walk away. But Page immediatelystepped in her way.

As this was closing time and there were many people coming andgoing, Page's actions, as well as Camille's and Sienna's, drew theattention of passersby.

"Camille, there are too many people here. Do you want our issue

to be discussed openly?" Page whispered.

Camille looked at Page. "Are you threatening me?"

"Of course not. I just don't want to tarnish your reputation.”

“If you don't want to tarnish my reputation, then please don't come tosee me. If you don't come, there won't be any tarnish."

Page wanted to continue but hadn't said anything when Camille'sphone suddenly rang.

Camille didn't move, not even to reach for her phone. She didn't want toanswer any calls in front of Page.

But Page took the initiative. "You should answer the call. It's probablyyour mother-in-law."

Her words made Camille tense up, and Sienna could sense it as sheheld onto Camille's arm.

Sienna also whispered, "Camille, just answer the call politely.”

Of course, Sienna knew that if Camille got into an argument with Pageor said something nasty in public, it would likely be recorded andshared online, leading to a media frenzy.

Camille bit her lip and reluctantly took out her phone, her expressionvisibly grim.

The caller's name on the phone's screen was indeed Talia.

Camille squinted, casting a cold glance at Page before answering thecall. Her voice was low and hoarse as she said, "Mom, what's goingon?"

Whatever Talia said seemed to darken Camille's expression further. Bythe end of the call, she looked particularly grim, and her gazesubconsciously drifted to Page, her eyes filled with a chilling resolve.
