Chapter 1088: Exposure

Ayan's face immediately darkened, and he said, "Alright, I'll contact Dr.Ellis after I return home tonight regarding my grandfather'shospitalization. Please prepare in advance. I don't want this news toleak, and I don't want anyone bothering him."

"I understand,” Kian nodded. With Ayan having many documents tohandle, Kian left to contact Brody.

Brody's reaction was somewhat agitated, which meant that Prestonwas completely unaware of Brody's actions. Brody was genuinelyconcerned that Ayan might inform Preston, so he personally calledAyan to emphasize that this should remain a secret. He was willing todo anything if Ayan agreed.

Ayan found Brody's readiness to cooperate amusing. He asked, "Whyare you cooperating with Preston? Given Preston's current status, hecan't offer you any significant benefits."

"He's willing to handle the Wesley family for me and ensure they stopbothering me," Brody replied.

"Did he deliver on his promise?"

"Yes, he did. The Wesley family's people have already returned toChesen City," Brody responded honestly.

Brody reluctantly cooperated with Ayan, even though he didn't want to.He understood that Ayan held a powerful leverage over him, and if thissecret were to be exposed, all his efforts would be in vain. He wasdetermined not to allow that to happen. Even if it meant facing publicscrutiny, it was not the right time to reveal everything. He would wait forPreston to remove Horace from the picture before exposing it all. So,for now, Brody had to be completely honest with Ayan, knowing thatAyan was not someone to be trifled with.

Ayan just chuckled and said, "So what methods did he use to make theWesley family people stop pursuing you and go back to Chesen City?"Brody admitted, "Ayan, I genuinely don't know that. So I can't answeryour question.”

"I can overlook this matter since it has no connection to Camille or theSimpson family. I have only one request: whatever you do, as long as itdoesn't involve Camille or the Simpson family, I won't intervene ormeddle.”

“I understand your point. Don't worry; I'll keep my word."

"That's good enough.”

With a faint smile, Ayan ended the call.

After throwing his phone away, Brody leaned back in his seat. Hisexpression was cold and apathetic. He had just returned fromArmstrong Corp, experienced intense confrontations, and immediatelyhad to call Ayan. He felt like a sandwiched middleman, and no oneseemed to consider his feelings.

Brody, as the sandwiched middleman, was about to endure much morethan this. His obedient attitude and the lack of any elevated tone in hisconversation with Ayan were all for a reason that only Page knew. Thus, when Page overheard the call and rushed over as soon as Brodyfinished his conversation, she immediately confronted him.

Page glared at Brody and interrogated him, "Are you cooperating withAyan? Are you planning to team up with him against me?" Page'sintense questioning showed no sign of tenderness, and the recentevents had made her appear entirely unfamiliar to Brody.

Brody was already annoyed, and seeing Page like this, he had nointerest in answering her. He didn't even want to say a word to her.Brody's instinctual response was to get up and leave the living room togo upstairs. However, Page immediately stepped forward to block him.She said, "Why won't you answer me? Did you agree to something withAyan? Are you planning to let Ayan help you deal with me? Let me tellyou, Brody, if you dare to cooperate with Ayan against me, then it's timefor us to settle our scores. I'll reveal all the hidden secrets of theArmstrong family to everyone. Then we'll see who comes out worse, you or the Armstrong family?"

Page's words transformed Brody's gaze into a sharp and piercing one.He lowered his voice to ensure the household staff didn't overhear, saying, "Are you out of your mind? Just look at yourself right now. You're no different from a shrew. Can't you maintain your dignity? Doyou think that by revealing the Armstrong family's secrets, you'll escaperesponsibility? Let me tell you, you won't. If you expose the Armstrongfamily's secrets, you'll bear the brunt of it, and we're all tied together onthe same rope. No one will escape responsibility!"

“I'm not maintaining my dignity? So, you're saying you're rejecting menow? Is that it?"

Page's emotions were running high, and she reached out to grabBrody, questioning him repeatedly. Despite Brody's attempts to evadeher, Page persisted. Ultimately, during their struggle, Page swung herhand, and her sharp fingertips grazed Brody's cheek, leaving a redmark.

Brody felt the pain, and he furrowed his brows, looking extremelydispleased. He scowled at Page and exclaimed, "Are you insane?"Brody pushed Page onto a nearby sofa and loomed over her. He spokewith a cold, toneless voice, “You'd better behave yourself. If you dareexpose the Armstrong family's secrets, you won't fare any better. At thatpoint, it's going to be every man for himself."

Afterward, Brody went upstairs, leaving Page on the couch. She didn'treact for quite some time.

It was a while before Page started crying, scolding Brody for his lack ofconscience and accusing him of ingratitude.

The household staff had heard Page's cries and the heated argumentbetween the two. They quickly tried to approach and help Page, butshe was too agitated and pushed them away.

"Get away from me! Don't touch me. Just go away!"

The servants had no choice but to retreat, realizing it wasn't the righttime to intervene.

Upon witnessing this scene, one of Preston's informants, who had beenbought off, promptly informed Preston.

Receiving this message, Preston responded mildly, “Thank you forkeeping an eye on things for me."

At this moment, Preston was seated in Armstrong Corp's building, occupying Grace's office. Grace's secretary had remained in place, butPreston wasn't entirely satisfied with her. He had already begundevising other plans in his mind.

The secretary, at this time, knocked on the door and informed Preston,"Manager Walker, Mr. Burris wants me to call you for a meeting in theconference room.”

"An urgent meeting?"

“No, it's a regular, routine company meeting."

"Why are you telling me this just now, then?"

"I apologize, Manager Walker. It was my mistake."

Preston didn't respond to the secretary's explanation and stood up fromhis chair. He proceeded to leave the office. The secretary hurried toaccompany him to the meeting room.

Upon reaching the conference room, Armstrong Corp's executives werealready present. They had met just an hour ago, and even though theyunderstood that Horace was in charge of the company now, they didn'tdare defy Brody, the chairman.

Upon seeing Preston's arrival, they nodded in acknowledgment.Preston's gaze finally settled on Horace, who was seated at the head ofthe conference room. Preston took a seat directly opposite him, aposition that no one dared to occupy.

Preston's actions startled everyone present. Horace's secretaryappeared ready to intervene but stopped upon a subtle glance fromHorace.

Preston raised an eyebrow and inquired, "I'm sitting here. Mr. Burris, you don't mind, do you?"

Horace responded calmly, "A seat is just a seat. What's there to mind?"His expression was aloof, revealing nothing about his current mood.
