Chapter 1111: Losing Face

Chapter 1111: Losing Face

The servant nodded, "Yes, but I just had an argument with Mrs.Simpson, so..."

"Okay." Ayan responded indifferently, not concerned about the details. The servant quickly led Ayan inside. As they entered the living room, they found the floor in complete disarray.

Ayan furrowed his brows as he scanned the scene. The next moment,Brody's voice, accompanied by footsteps, reached them. Camillethought it was Page returning after leaving home, and Brody, with anindifferent tone, said, "Why are you back? Weren't you leaving? Ifyou're going, make it clean and thorough!!!"

After his words, there was no response from Page, only the servant'svoice, "Sir, Mr. Simpson is here."

Brody turned around immediately upon hearing this, and seeing thechaos on the floor, a faint shadow of displeasure passed over his face. Then, with a stiff expression, he looked at the servant, revealing cleardissatisfaction in his eyes. In a cold tone, he instructed, "Clean up thismess immediately."

The servant nodded and quickly started tidying up the things on thefloor.

Brody's gaze shifted to Ayan, and he asked, "Why is Ayan here at thistime?"

Ayan, with a faint gaze, glanced at Brody and calmly asked, “Passingby. Just happened to think there's something I need to ask you."Despite the current collaboration between Preston and him, Brody stillharbored some fear of Ayan because Ayan held some leverage overhim. Brody looked at Ayan, wondering what business he had.

Although Ayan claimed to be passing by, Brody wasn't entirelyconvinced. Ayan wouldn't casually pass by his place without a reason.Brody presumed there must be something on Ayan's mind.

Brody cast a probing look at Ayan but couldn't discern anything. Hisexpression turned slightly subdued. Looking at Ayan, he asked, "Ayan, just tell me if there's anything. There's no one else here; it's just the twoof us."

Though Ayan insisted he was merely passing by, Brody found it hard tobelieve. He suspected that Ayan had some business.

With a faint glance at Brody, Ayan replied, "Let's talk outside."

Even though there were no outsiders, the place had surveillance, andAyan didn't want the conversation to be recorded and leaked.Especially concerning what he intended to investigate today, hebelieved the fewer people who knew, the better.

Following Ayan's request, Brody accompanied him from the villa to thegarden outside.

The Armstrong's villa wasn't as grand as the Simpson's mansion or asluxurious as the Franklin Bay villa. The garden was smaller, but it wassufficiently distant from the villa, providing enough privacy for theirconversation.

Brody looked at Ayan and asked, "Ayan, why all this secrecy?"

Brody's tone carried a hint of amusement, as if he thought Ayan wasmaking a mountain out of a molehill.

However, Ayan paid no heed to his words. With a calm look, he metBrody's gaze and said in a low voice, "It's nothing significant, at leastnot for the Armstrong family."

Ayan's words were abrupt, leaving Brody with a somewhat puzzledexpression.

The next moment, Ayan continued slowly, “This matter is quiteimportant to me. I want to know why there is such a vast differencebetween Camille and Grace, both of whom are your biologicaldaughters. It's a difference significant enough that Camille questions itevery night, wondering if she did something wrong. She even thinksthat she might be the cause of your cold treatment towards her. So, canyou tell me why?"

Ayan's last few words carried a low laugh, but his handsome faceshowed no sign of amusement. Instead, it bore a chilly and indifferentwarmth.

He gazed at Brody, as if asking him to provide a genuine answer.Although Brody clearly understood Ayan's implication, he pretended notto, even adding a touch of ignorance. He calmly replied, "Ayan, I don'tunderstand what you're getting at. We treat both of them equally. There's no favoritism. You're not us, and she's not us. Naturally, youdon't know our thoughts and intentions. But as parents, we treat both ofthem the same. How could we possibly show partiality?"

"Is that so?"

"Of course!”

"But I feel like it's not the case at all." Ayan squinted at Brody, hispiercing gaze questioning. He said, "I don't need to elaborate on howyou treat Camille. You've molded Grace into a socialite of Hance City, protecting her exceptionally well. Do you call that treating themequally?"

Brody's expression tightened slightly, not wanting to continue thismatter with Ayan. He quickly changed the subject, saying, "Ayan, theseare things of the past. Previously, it was because Camille wasn't withus, so there might have been some unintentional bias."

"Just a little?" Ayan snorted. He said, "Honestly, I'm starting to doubtwhether she's truly your biological daughter, just like Camille does. Howabout we all take a paternity test together? Let's see if she's biologicallyrelated to you. If not, at least give Camille a reasonable explanation, soshe doesn't have to continue living in self-doubt. What do you think?"Ayan was merely probing Brody, wanting to see his reaction.Unexpectedly, Brody's reaction was strong. He said, "How can we dothat? If word gets out, how can we face the Armstrong family? Camilleis part of our family, and just because we, as parents, had somenegligence, doesn't mean we should entertain such thoughts. If shehas any questions, she can come and ask me at any time. We, asparents, are open to being questioned about anything we might havedone wrong. But resorting to such actions is not allowed, even whenher grandfather was still around. It would bring shame to the Armstrongfamily."

Brody felt that such a thing could never happen in the Armstrong family. If it did, what would others think of the Armstrong family? This wasabsolutely impossible, especially considering that he always prioritizedthe interests of the Armstrong family in everything, especially insituations that could lead to rumors and gossip.

Brody's words left Ayan silent for a moment. Instead of speakingimmediately, he looked at Brody calmly. Camille felt uncertain aboutBrody's reaction. Brody, in an attempt to gauge Ayan's response, said,"Ayan, you should discuss this with Camille. There's no benefit foreither of you in pursuing this matter. You both have children. It wouldn'tbe right for your children to be caught up in such rumors, would it?"Brody's words were somewhat disjointed, as he was desperate to makeAyan immediately dismiss the idea. Consequently, he found himselfunclear about what he was saying.

Ayan didn't react much to Brody's actions. Only when Brody seemedflustered did Ayan calmly ask, “So, you disagree with my suggestion, right?”
