My Ex-husband Begs Me Back
Chapter 774: Pretense

Chapter 774: Pretense

Is it because it's too sweet that you feel compelled to share?

Sienna said, "I think you're just trying to show off how in love you arewith Ayan and intentionally making me jealous. With that man by yourside, you have totally forgot about me. Camille, you wicked woman! Ihate you!"

Sienna was getting more and more hilariously upset the more shethought about it, especially since Mario had been driving her crazylately.

She sniffled and continued venting: "Camille, are you deliberately tryingto make me angry? Are you making me envy your relationship withAyan? You wicked woman! Just wait for me; I'm going to buy a planeticket right now and come replace you in Hance City."

“You're coming back now? But didn't you say that before returninghome from Flento City, everything needed to be resolved first? If Rexthinks that these things have been resolved, won't he feeldisappointed?"

"Camille!!!" Sienna was starting to feel frustrated.

Camille quickly apologized: "I'm sorry; I just wanted to talk about it withsomeone. I really didn't mean any harm or bragging."

"Well, then come see me in Flento City so we can hang out.”

Camille fell silent; she had fallen into Sienna'’s trap.

This woman was deliberately playing the victim card.

Camille said: "It's getting late; let's stop here for today. I'm tired.""Cami, please come see me soon. I've been really annoyed lately. I'vestarted working at King Group. Every day Mario is around me, and hisex-fiancée always comes to me and akeds me to persuade him to gobackto her. You don't know how close I am losing my mind," Siennasaid.

Thinking about those things made her even more irritable than usual. She felt like she might be falling into depression soon if somethingdidn't change soon enough.

She talked much about what happened recently. Although they weretrivial, Camille could still sense the immense pressure weighing downon her.

"Do you want me to talk to Rex so he can go and accompany you?"asked Camilla.

"No need," replied Sienna firmly. "We agreed this time around that thisis something only I can handle myself."

"Well then, let me check on my project progress before giving a specificdate to visit you."

“You are such a good friend who won't leave me behind during toughtimes," exclaimed Sienna happily, knowing full well how much better lifewould be once Camilla came to keep her in company. Even if onlybriefly, half a day or less would suffice as long as there's someoneclose by whom she trusts implicitly.

Camille comforted her, "Don't push yourself too hard. You've doneenough for the King family."

“I understand. Actually, I don't feel like I owe the King family anything, because I never intended to abandon them, just because they raisedme up. If there's ever a time when the King family needs me, I'll give itmy all. I just want to resolve things between Mario and me. I want himto know that we can't go back anymore."

If Mario doesn't agree, he will definitely cause trouble for her and hurtRex, which she cannot accept or forgive herself for.

After chatting with Camille for a while and feeling slightly better, Siennaended the call since it was getting late.

However, she couldn't sleep at all throughout the night since returningto Flento City; most nights were spent relying on alcohol and sleepingpills.

But she didn't tell anyone about it; she didn't want those who caredabout her to worry. So everything was digested alone by herself.

After putting down her phone, Sienna still couldn't fall asleep; insteadshe sat by the window staring outside in a daze as tears streameddown her face.

She was strong enough to bear all sadness and worries alone whilebeing good at managing emotions without revealing them except infront of close friends or loved ones.

That night Sienna stayed up very late before finally falling asleep onlyto be woken up early by a phone call next morning.

Without looking at who called on her phone screen, she held it closeagainst ear with eyes closed: "Hello?"

"Aren't you up yet?" A man's deep voice came through from the otherend of phone speaker

His voice hit both ears as well as brain directly, making Siennasuddenly awake but also immediately sit up from bed.

She opened wide eyes looking around dim room before hoarselyasking: "What's going on?"

"Come downstairs," he said simply but firmly.

“I'm not ready yet. You go ahead, I can drive myself later. You don'tneed to come to pick me up, I still know the way to the company,”replied Sienna coldly, with an expression that showed resistancetowards his request. But the man didn't seem to have listened to her atall, and just continued saying, "Half an hour is enough. If you stillhaven't come down after half an hour, then I'll have to go up myself.Sienna, let's not fight early in the morning, okay?"

Sienna pursed her lips tightly and took a deep breath without making asound. Her expression was extremely cold, and the call had alreadybeen hung up on the other end. She weakly threw her phone onto thebed and covered her face with both hands for almost half a minutebefore finally getting out of bed.

After tidying up briefly and changing clothes, she left.

It had only been about twenty minutes.

As soon as she left the apartment building, she saw a black Mercedesparked at the entrance. She bit her lip slightly and took a deep breathas if summoning great courage before walking over to open thepassenger door.

The man in the driver's seat was answering his phone but looked overwhen he saw her get into the car. After she fastened her seatbelt, hiscall ended too.

Instead of immediately starting up the car, though, he turned sidewaysfrom his seat in back and handed Sienna a sandwich: "Breakfast."Sienna frowned slightly, but didn't reach out immediately. She gave himprobing glances that prompted him to look back at her with dark eyes.Carrying some pressure as he said: "Sienna? Are you trying to tell meyou want me to feed you?"

Only then did Sienna reach out for it: “Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"But I don't eat breakfast normally, so don't bring it next time, please. Also, I have a car. I can go to the office by myself. You don't have topick me up,” she repeated what she'd said on their call earlier, tryinghard to distance herself from him.

The man quirked his lips slightly before looking calmly at Sienna:“You're my secretary now, also part of the Kings, so there's no problemwith us going together like this. If you don't want to see me though... I'msorry, but I can hardly do anything about that.”

Silently cursing Mario inside herself again for being such an assholewho never cared about anyone else's feelings while doing anything,Sienna struggled with emotions hidden within herself before speakingslowly: "Doesn't it mean that even my freedom or personal space arelost now? Or are you going to force me to live with you in a little while? That way, you'll completely take over my work and personal space, Mr.King. You're really annoying like that. I'm an individual human, not yourplaything. I need my own freedom and space too. You're really startingto annoy me now. I've already agreed to work at King Group, isn't thatenough?"

Sienna's emotions were getting out of control as she spoke, her facefull of anger because she had just woken up and her fair complexionwas flushed with redness. She didn't know how tempting she lookedright now.

Mario remained calm as he cleared his throat slightly and his deepeyes narrowed under his eyelids as he asked in a low voice, "Are weno longer pretending?"
