My Ex-husband Begs Me Back
Chapter 844 Whatever

Chapter 844 Whatever

Coming out of the ward, she took a deep breath. The clear imprint offive fingers on her cheek was particularly visible, but she paid noattention to it.

The faint smile on her face disappeared as soon as she stepped out ofthe ward.

She walked towards the elevator, followed by Mario's secretary.

The secretary just kept following her, which ignited Sienna's emotions. She suddenly turned around and looked at Mario's secretary, her voicecold and indifferent as she questioned, "I just went to buy water, andhe's so worried and afraid that I'll run away? Or is he afraid that I'llexpose what happened last night?"

Sienna was in a bad mood, and her tone was naturally unpleasant, filled with sarcastic mockery. Her words echoed in the quiet hospitalcorridor, sounding particularly abrupt.

The secretary was taken aback and quickly explained, "Mr. King didn'tmean it that way. He's just worried that her mother might cause troublefor you, so he asked me to follow you to prevent any unpleasantincidents. As for what you want to do, it's up to you."

Sienna didn't feel any joy because of that; instead, she let out a coldsnort and a faint smile, saying, “Is that so?"

The secretary nodded hastily, but Sienna remained silent.

The two entered the elevator, one in front and one behind. Sienna’sexpression was particularly cold, and even in the confined space of theelevator, the temperature around her seemed to turn cold. Thesecretary was well aware of Sienna's identity and knew how muchMario valued her, so naturally, he didn't dare to neglect Sienna.

The atmosphere was unusually quiet, so quiet that it felt as if one couldhear the sound of breathing.

In a low voice, the secretary spoke, "Mr. King asked me to tell you thatMiss Armstrong and Mr. Simpson are probably very worried about you.He suggested that you take the opportunity to make a call to MissArmstrong while buying the water.”

Sienna didn't say anything, nor did she feel any gratitude in her heart. After all, Mario was the one who caused all of this. He knew very wellthat his actions would have unimaginable consequences, so why did hepersist in doing it?

Was it impulsiveness?

But they had known each other for a long time. If he had any impulses, they would have surfaced long ago.

Sienna wouldn't give him any excuses or reasons to absolve himself. What's done is done. She absolutely couldn't act as if nothing hadhappened just because he was also injured now. She couldn't be thatmagnanimous.

Sienna bought two cups of juice from a café near the hospital andslowly made her way back. She had no intention of calling Camille. Shewasn't in a good mood right now, so she didn't want to show her worstside to her best friend.

As Sienna walked back to the hospital, she ran into Mrs. King andMario's cousin. She was the daughter of Mario's uncle and the only girlof the youngest generation in the King family. So when Mrs. Kingadopted Sienna, the cousin was constantly dissatisfied with her, believing that Sienna had taken away all the love that belonged to her.In her heart, she held deep resentment towards Sienna.

Normally, the relationship between the two was very tense, but Siennadidn't bother paying attention to her. Most of the time, the cousin wasjust putting on a solo show.

Sienna handed the two cups of juice to Mrs. King and spoke in a gentletone, "Mom, here's your drink. Why don't you stay a little longer?"

Her attitude was always obedient and well-behaved. Mrs. King didn'tsay anything, she just reached out and took the juice Sienna handedover, her tone calm as she said, "He's tired. Let him rest a bit. You stayhere and take care of him. If there's anything, let me know immediately.Don't keep anything from me."

Sienna nodded to show that she understood, then reached out to handthe other bottle of juice to the cousin. However, she showed nointention of taking it, just glanced at Sienna indifferently. Then, sheimmediately seized the opportunity to feign concern for Mario, but inreality, she was trying to provoke Mrs. King against Sienna. She said,"Aunt, although it doesn't look serious, I think Mario's injury is quitesevere. After all, he hurt his head. What if he has a concussion or othercomplications?"

Upon hearing this, worry immediately filled Mrs. King's face, and evenher gaze towards Sienna turned cold.

The cousin quickly took advantage of the situation and continued,"Sienna, is his injury caused by you? Although he protects you, itdoesn't mean you can mistreat him all the time, you know? I don't evenknow what you did to him. How could you hurt his head? The head issuch an important part. What if something unexpected happens?"

The cousin knew that it must be related to Sienna; otherwise, whywould Sienna offer no defense at all? Since Sienna came to the Kingfamily, Mario had been biased towards her. He had done so much forher, much more than he did for her, his own cousin sister, and thatnaturally made her resentful.

Mrs. King became more worried as she listened, and her next glance atSienna was filled with displeasure as she questioned, "Sienna, did youcause Mario's head injury? Give me an honest answer. Did hedeliberately deceive me to protect you?"

Sienna met Mrs. King's gaze, and she could have simply denied it,which would have avoided many troublesome situations.

But she didn't intend to do that.

However, before she could speak, Mario's secretary hurriedlyinterjected, "Madam, this matter has nothing to do with Miss King. It'sMr. King..."

“I didn't ask you. I'm asking her now." Mrs. King had always maintaineda gentle image, but when it came to Mario's matters, her attitudebecame very firm. Perhaps that was the kind of motherly love that couldonly be shown to one's own child.

Seeing Sienna'’s prolonged silence, Mrs. King's tone became urgentand cold. She asked, "Tell me, did you do it?"

"Yes, it was me." Sienna responded in accordance with her words, herface remaining calm without any ripples or changes in expression. Shesaid in a plain tone, "It was me."

In an instant, Mrs. King became furious. Her eyes widened as sheglared at Sienna and questioned angrily, "How could you do this? Whathave we, the King family, ever done to wrong you? Have I mistreatedyou since you came to our family? Or is it your way of getting back atme for what I did in the past?"

Sienna's face remained unchanged, without any extra emotionalfluctuations. She calmly looked at Mrs. King and said softly, "I neverthought that way. That matter is in the past, and I understand that yourdecision was the right one. So I never thought of seeking revengebecause of it."

"If that's the case, then why did you do this to me? Why did you hurtMario? Do you think that because he has been so nice towards you,you can just hurt him at will?" Mrs. King was extremely angry, and hercousin continued to add fuel to the fire. Under Mrs. King's impulsiveoutburst, she declared, "Since this is how you repay the King family, then the King family can no longer have you. From now on, you're nolonger a member of our family, and our relationship as mother anddaughter is completely over."

Sienna stood there motionless, without any response. Mrs. King'swords brought a hint of indescribable sadness to her heart, but amidstthat sadness, she could clearly feel a sense of relief from head to toe.Such thoughts might be considered heartless, especially consideringhow well Mrs. King had treated her. Apart from being strict with herregarding Mario, she had never lacked in any other aspect.

But some things had changed, and if they continued to force it andpersist, no one would be happy.

Instead of that, it would be better for her to take the initiative to distanceherself. At least that way, everyone could be happy.

Sienna nodded and responded in an especially soft voice, “Iunderstand.”

Mrs. King no longer looked at her and said indifferently, "Leave himstarting tomorrow.”

Then, Mrs. King walked past her towards the elevator, and beforeentering it, she also threw the juice she held into the trash can.

Sienna noticed every movement, but she didn't say a single word.Mario's secretary was already sweating coldly. He began to imaginethat if Mario learned about what had just happened, he might lose hisjob.

He spoke in a low voice, "Miss King, you..."

Sienna interrupted him with just a few words, "You heard it too. It wasmy mother who said it, not something I suggested. So I won't go to theward."
