Chapter 846: Hoodwinking
Ayan put down his phone and embraced Camille, his face radiating agentle smile. He said, "You'll replace out tonight, alright?"
Camille let out a light huff. This person and his love for suspense, is headdicted to teasing?
Seeing Camille's expression, Ayan couldn't help but laugh as he gentlypinched her cheeks. "I promise you'll know tonight, okay?"
Camille didn't feel like responding and didn't pursue the matter further.Just then, Talia sent a video call. Timmy was having lunch, and the littleguy could now use chopsticks to eat on his own.
Seeing Camille and Ayan on the call, Timmy greeted them, calling out"Mommy" and "Daddy." He was growing up at an incredible speed, making them love him with each passing day. It felt like their heartswere melting.
With Timmy, all the unpleasant things were forgotten.
However, during their conversation with Timmy, Talia somehow endedup talking to the old Simpson. Talia noticed something off in thebackground and asked, "Where are you two? In a hotel?"
Camille and Ayan exchanged a glance. Camille felt a little strange whenthe word "hotel" came up in this moment.
Camille pursed her lips and remained silent, while Ayan calmlyresponded, "Yes, in a hotel. Cami and I are in Flento. We're going on abusiness trip to Dane tomorrow."
Upon hearing this, Talia immediately became cheerful and eagerlyshared with the old Simpson, "Ayan said he took Cami out for a date! They're on a date!"
The old Simpson smiled happily after hearing this. Despite the tracesleft by time on his face, the joy in his eyes couldn't be concealed.Ayan's hand reached out from beyond the view of the video and heldhers. Camille's body stiffened, but she maintained a smile on her faceas she looked into the camera. Sensing her reaction, Ayan spoke softly,"Alright, you can continue to smile. After we end the video call, she'll bemad at me."
Upon hearing this, Talia stopped smiling and quickly reassured, "Cami, don't take it to heart. I was just casually joking. I promise I'm notlaughing at you. I'm happy because you two are doing well. Your Dadand Grandpa are also very happy! Since you two are on a date, enjoy afew more days. Simpson Group can still function without him. Let himspend more time with you this time, happily!"
Talia said everything she wanted to say in one breath and thenhurriedly asked Camille to end the video call. She clearly didn't want todisturb them and was concerned that Camille might feel embarrassed.Under the gaze of several pairs of eyes, Ayan pressed the end callbutton.
Camille finally exhaled silently and looked at Ayan, saying softly, "Momis like a big fan of our relationship.”
Ayan curved his lips into a smile and reached out to tidy up the strayhair on her face. With a gentle gaze fixed on her, he said, "So when willyou make Mom's dream come true?"
Camille pursed her lips and instead of rejecting the topic as she haddone in the past, she met Ayan's gaze. She asked, "Is it about fulfillingMom's dream, or is it about fulfilling your dream?"
Ayan gently pinched her cheeks and said in a soft voice, "Naturally, mydreams are more important. So, would you give me a chance?"Camille's lips carried a faint smile. After such a long time, she couldclearly sense everything Ayan had been doing. She gently bit her lipand softly said, "Let's remarry when we return to Hance!"
As Camille uttered these words, her heart raced as if it would burst outin the next second.
Equally shocked was Ayan. He knew that remarriage was inevitable, but he hadn't expected it to be now.
So, after Camille spoke, he was momentarily stunned, his whole beinglost in silence for several seconds before a smile slowly emerged on hisface. He looked at her and said, "Can you say that again? I didn't hearit clearly just now!"
Camille shook her head. "Good things aren't repeated. If you didn'thear it, then I can't help it."
After saying this, Camille averted her gaze and didn't look at him. Hishandsome face, full of smiles, pulled her into his embrace, hugging hertightly. His chin rested on her shoulder as he softly said, “No backingout. I heard it, and now you have to follow through. No reneging, understood?"
Camille remained silent, maintaining her silence without uttering aword. The two of them just embraced each other quietly, feeling eachother's presence. There was no need for words or any form ofcommunication. This silent companionship allowed them to truly feelthe existence of each other.
It felt good.
The two spent the morning in the hotel. After having lunch, Ayan busiedhimself with work for a while before taking Camille out for a strolltowards evening.
Hand in hand, they walked and explored a nearby commercial center. After casually eating something outside, they returned to the hotel.Campole.
At this moment, it was rush hour, and the streets were filled with carsand people. Most people hurried home after work, while a few hadmade plans to meet friends or loved ones for dinner. Each person hadtheir own matters and objectives.
Meanwhile, there were some disturbances within Norman Group. Ananonymous message appeared in the company's internal employeegroup chat.
The message revolved around what illegal activities Austin had beeninvolved in since taking over Norman Group. This time, the company'stop management and the two longest shareholders were forced byAustin to release some false statements to secure Norman Group. However, the secret couldn't be kept any longer. The police had alreadystarted collecting evidence. If it continued, it would only lead to a lose-lose situation for Norman Group. Most employees would faceunemployment, and the company would suffer from a severe businesscrisis, potentially leading to bankruptcy.
Hence, they hoped everyone could supervise each other, prioritize thegreater good, and make a decision that would benefit everyone.
After the message exploded in the group, the employees who saw itwere also shocked. Their initial reaction was that someone might havemade a mistake or was deliberately creating panic and rumors.
"Is it fake?"
“It must be fake. The media reported it before, and it turned out to befalse. Maybe it's just for the sake of publicity for Norman Group. Let'sall forget it. There's nothing interesting here.”
“Is it really fake?! Can someone tell me who sent the message?”
"An anonymous account, but the company's group requires real-nameverification to enter. So, who could it be?"
No one really cared because the previous media reports had beenclarified, so they didn't take it to heart.
However, one piece of evidence after another soon emerged, provingthe authenticity of those words. It included the contracts that Austin hadsigned over the years in collaboration with those involved in illegalactivities, as well as photos of Austin meeting them for meals.Furthermore, there were financial transactions in Austin's account, andthe financial department of Norman Group had people specificallyassigned by him to launder the illegally obtained money through thecompany's projects and transfer the clean money into his personalaccount.
Austin had also made thorough preparations. Only a small portion ofthe money was left under his name in the country, while the majority ofit was stored in Swiss banks.
This was the reason why nothing had been discovered at NormanGroup until now.
After these pieces of evidence were presented, everyone realized thatthis matter was far from simple.
The previous clarifications were likely false, merely meant to deceivethe company's employees and the public. But this time, the situationcouldn't be brushed off.
Yet, no one dared to continue speaking in the group because thismatter was no small issue. If everything was true, those who had sidedwith Austin would undoubtedly be seen as accomplices.
They were just employees, and naturally, they didn't dare to take thisgamble or risk losing their jobs.
Just because they didn't speak in the group didn't mean they weren'ttalking somewhere else.
At this moment, the employees’ own chat groups were already abuzzwith discussions about the truth of this matter.
