Chapter 930: Disruption

Chapter 930: Disruption

Molly lightly bit her lip, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes. Sheraised her hand to cover her face, unwilling to meet Preston's gaze. Her voice, hoarse and choked, was full of sobbing, "I didn't know whatto say. I had nothing to say. Could you give me some time to be alone?I didn't want to see you. When I saw you, I couldn't help but think of thatvideo, you and that woman... both of you..."

The more Molly spoke, the more distressed she became, to the pointwhere she couldn't even produce words anymore.

Her heartache also affected Preston, who furrowed his brows tightly. He reached out to comfort her, but his hand was immediately pushedaway.

In a soft voice, Preston said, "Molly, even criminals are given a chanceto defend themselves in court. Do you want to condemn me basedsolely on a video?"

Molly remained silent, her lips tightly pursed, her expression a bit stiff. She stared at Preston, her voice devoid of emotion, "How should youexplain? The evidence is clear. Are you still not admitting it? Are yougoing to keep lying to me?"

Facing Molly's questioning, Preston's expression turned equally grave. In a low, measured voice, he said, "I didn't do what you're accusing meof. Molly, don't you know me? If I really had someone else, why would Iagree to marry you?"

Molly's gaze fixed on the man in front of her, her eyes unwavering. Tobe honest, if she didn't know what kind of person he truly was, if thingswere like they used to be, she might have been sold off by him and stillbe counting the money for him.

Molly sneered in her heart. Her expression remained frosty, and shetruly felt that she had never understood this man. But after his repeatedaloofness, she had become the person she was now. Molly wanted tothank him for that.

If he had concealed everything deeper, she might still be kept in thedark. In that case, she would really have been manipulated by him.Molly didn't rush to speak. She seemed to be genuinely contemplatinghis words. Preston noticed this and prompted, "Molly, can you trustme?"

“I want to trust you too, but I really don't know how. I'm carrying ourchild, yet you haven't shown any intention of getting married.Sometimes, I truly doubt whether you genuinely want to be with me."The mention of getting married made Preston's expression turnserious. He gazed at Molly, his tone still calm and composed, notbetraying any emotions. He said, "Molly, I was planning to propose toyou and then get married. Even though we have a child now, you'llhave everything a new bride has. I don't want to make you feel you aremistreated, nor do I want you to lack anything. If you think it's better toget married sooner, why don't we just go ahead and do it?"

So, at this moment, Preston's heart was filled with unease. He gazed atMolly, waiting for her response.

Molly pressed her lips together and softly asked, “Are you truly willingto marry me?"

Preston replied, "Of course. We were going to get married in the firstplace, why wouldn't I be willing?"

He said it as if it were the most obvious thing, as though he wasproviding a very typical response.

But Molly shook her head lightly. She said, "Since you have your ownlife plans, let's follow your plans. I don't want to disrupt yourarrangements because of me or any other reasons.”

"Molly, you're the person I want to spend my life with. How could you bea disruption?" Preston helped Molly up from the couch. He handed herthe bouquet of roses and said, "All these things online, they'reintentionally trying to target me."

"Somebody is targeting you? So, is it really not true?"

"Of course it's not true. Do you still not believe me at this point?Originally, I didn't plan to tell you all this, but now, if I don't say anything, you'll truly be hurt." Preston's voice was gentle, but his tone was flat.He continued, "Ayan has misunderstood me. Even up to now, he's stilltargeting me over my friendship with Camille. Whether it's projects oranything else, he's been pressuring me."

Preston explained many things, detailing what had happened since hereturned to Flento from Hance. All these incidents were orchestrated byAyan to undermine him.

He said, "If my guess is correct, Ayan is probably behind this as well.He wants to disrupt everything for me, to drive a wedge between us, tocreate problems."

As he talked, his emotions started to get more intense.

His face was full of an icy detachment. He said, "Besides Ayan, no oneelse would go to such lengths. So, Molly, you must believe me, okay?We are the ones who will spend our lives together. Everything I'm doingnow is for our future. My heart only belongs to you, because when Iwas at my lowest, it was you who helped me. So, you're the onlyperson I love."

He continued to reassure, to pour out his feelings, all to make Mollybelieve in him.

Underneath his repeated affirmations, Molly slowly suppressed thesadness from earlier. She looked at Preston, saying, "Alright, I canbelieve you. But how do you plan to handle this?"

“The woman in the video with me is Zoie. She's a dancer. I've recentlyinvested in a dance studio, so we're in a business partnership. This isalso for the sake of our future child. I talked to her about this before Icame back, and she's willing to help us clear things up. So, I plan tocontact media outlets with a good relationship with the Walker family fora live interview. You'll need to be present too, okay?"

Preston's face remained composed, neither nervous nor guilty. Mollycontemplated for a while before nodding in agreement.

Since she had agreed, Preston became attentive to her every need. Heeven uttered flowery words, each word telling Molly that she was theonly one in his heart. He was so devoted that he even fed her water. He even painted a rosy picture of the future, making it clear to Mollythat his heart was only for her.

However, Molly was no longer the same as she was half a year ago.She wouldn't be swayed by such sweet words anymore, but shecouldn't help but remember how his smile used to make her happy for along time.

Thinking about it now, she felt foolish.

Molly couldn't help but smile, a bitter smile that prompted Preston to bestunned. He asked, "Molly, what's the matter?"

"Brother, have you ever lied to me?"

"Of course not."

"Good, I believe you."

Molly smiled faintly, gazing at Preston.

Their eyes met for a few seconds before Molly looked away. Herexpression made Preston uncomfortable, yet he felt something hecouldn't quite express.

With just over an hour left until the live broadcast, news about thesituation in Flento City spread to other cities as well

Especially after Preston's video was released, everyone recognizedhim, whether from the museum project or Mr. and Mrs. Bell's project.People discussed Preston's character and speculated about how hewould handle the situation.
