Chapter 971: Let It Stir

Ayan couldn't help but smile at Timmy's words. He raised his hand andgently pinched Timmy's cheek, his voice tinged with a soft laugh, "Areyou telling the truth?"

Timmy nodded vigorously, fearing that he might miss Ayan's approval ifhe nodded too slowly.

Then Ayan asked, "Will you be a good boy?"

"Yes," he nodded again.

Ayan chuckled, "Good. Be a good boy and stay home to play withNanny. Daddy is busy with work, but I'll come replace you after I'm done, okay?"

Timmy looked a bit disappointed, and his aunt explained to him in agentle voice. It was unclear if he understood, but his expression, though still reluctant, didn't continue clinging to Ayan. Instead, he raisedhis hand and waved, saying, "Goodbye, Daddy!"

Ayan looked at the obedient Timmy and nodded in return, saying,"Goodbye, Timmy!"

After leaving the Simpson's mansion, Ayan drove directly to thecompany. He hadn't been to the office for two or three days. Originally,he had planned to return to Simpson Group yesterday afternoon, but ithad been delayed until now, so he was really occupied in the company. In his spare time, Kian also briefed him on Cora'’s situation.

Cora, along with the evidence they had, had already been handed overto the police. The legal procedures were now underway, and Coraherself was being held at the police station.

Kian said, "Cora's phone is in our hands. If Preston tries to contact her,he'll likely call this number.”

Ayan showed little reaction, his expression very cold.

Kian gave him a sidelong glance and asked in a low voice, "Mr.Simpson, do you think Preston will contact Cora?"

"Whether he does or not doesn't matter anymore. Cora's matter issettled. Now, I'm curious about what methods Preston will use againstmy family and me."

Ayan set aside the documents in his hand, his expression dark and hisdeep eyes filled with a chilling intensity.

Kian nodded slightly and then reported on the matter of beingthreatened.

Kian said, "I replied to them as per your instructions. There hasn't beenany obvious response so far, but they haven't replied either, so it's hardto tell what they're up to."

Ayan wasn't particularly concerned about this matter because he hadenough evidence to separate Simpson Group from it. Moreover, theinjured villager was now in Hance, under his care. Of course, hisactions were not solely to maintain control but also to provide a bettertreatment environment for the injured villager.

The injured villager already had underlying health issues, and theirinjuries had made their conditions worse. Therefore, after returning toFlento, Kian arranged for them to be admitted to Dr. Ellis's hospital, which Ayan found reassuring.

Within an hour of Kian briefing Ayan on these matters, news broke onthe Hance City forum about Simpson Group's charity project being asham.

Shortly after, some small media outlets and gossip magazines began topublicize the matter, but they dared not mention it explicitly. They onlyinsinuated, as the forum posts, along with the media reports, quicklyspread throughout Hance City and eventually made their way to Twitter, even trending as a hot topic.

The general message was that Simpson Group had initially beeninvolved in a charitable project with good intentions. However, now thatit was thriving and had promising prospects, Simpson Group hadchanged its mind and wanted to profit from the project, which was aviolation of the charitable purpose.

With this kind of public opinion erupting, it immediately garneredsignificant attention. Furthermore, because this matter was associatedwith charity, which was considered a selfless act by the public, ifSimpson Group had indeed acted this way, it naturally made peopleextremely dissatisfied.

Fueled by public opinion, discontent quickly spiraled out of control.Simpson Group's official social media accounts were flooded withquestions about their intentions and demands for a reasonableexplanation and an apology.

While Simpson Group led the charitable project, keyboard warriors andbystanders who hadn't lifted a finger were quick to criticize SimpsonGroup.

"Simpson Group's flip-flopping is nauseating!"

"What Simpson Group has done is undermining their position in ourhearts.”

“Let's boycott anything related to Simpson Group from now on!""Boycott, boycott!"

“This is just disgusting!"

"Are they trying to use their capital to manipulate everything? No oneasked you to do charity in the first place, but since you initially promisedto do so, you should stick to it instead of deceiving us. Don't give anyhope to those who were expecting your assistance. You're justdisgusting!"

"Simpson Group, explain yourselves!"

"Simpson Group, apologize!"

"Simpson Group, give a clear explanation!"

For a while, "Simpson Group" became ubiquitous on various forumsand Twitter as hot trending topics.

Outside, it felt like a battlefield, with the scent of gunpowder in the air. However, on the Simpson Group's side, there seemed to be nomovement at all.

In the top-floor executive office of Simpson Group, Ayan sat in agenuine leather chair behind his desk, with a row of Simpson Groupexecutives standing in front of him.

Each person had a different expression, especially the head of thePublic Relations Department, who anxiously looked at Ayan and asked,"Mr. Simpson, what should we do? How should we respond? The heatof this matter is too high, and the usual methods might not work.”

As soon as the matter came to light, the Public Relations Departmenthad immediately brainstormed strategies, but many of their ideas weredeemed impractical, making it a challenging situation.

After the head of the Public Relations Department finished speaking, other department heads also offered their suggestions. This processcontinued for nearly ten minutes, and Ayan had not responded at allduring this time.

Facing the increasingly anxious crowd, Ayan finally spoke in a calm andunhurried tone, "For now, there's no need to respond to this matter. Letthem make a fuss, the bigger, the better.”

His words left everyone, except for Kian, puzzled. They didn't quiteunderstand what he meant.

However, Ayan had no intention of explaining or elaborating further. Hesimply closed his eyes, leaned back in his chair, and remained silent. Then everyone turned to look at Kian. However, Kian remainedcomposed and offered a reassuring smile. "Everyone, please focus onyour current job. Mr. Simpson will inform everyone of any plans orarrangements.”

He made a gesture signaling everyone to leave and then escorted thedepartment heads out of Ayan's office.

Outside the office, once Kian closed the door behind him, theexecutives began to inquire urgently. "Kian, what does Mr. Simpsonmean? Are we not going to address this? Allowing the situation toescalate could harm Simpson Group. The stock is already showingsigns of decline, which would be a significant loss for Simpson Group!"Others echoed similar concerns, but Kian maintained a composedsmile and replied softly, "Everyone, please remain calm. Mr. Simpsonknows what he's doing. For now, let's follow Mr. Simpson's instructions, stabilize our employees’ emotions, refrain from spreading rumors orbelieving in them. All official information will be communicated throughinternal company channels and emails. If there's any news, it will beshared with you promptly.”

Kian's words alleviated their doubts. After all, if even Kian was sayingthis, then Mr. Simpson must be well aware of the situation and had hisreasons for handling it this way. Therefore, Kian's calm demeanorreassured them.

Once the executives from various departments were dismissed, Kianreturned to Ayan's office.

He approached the desk, slightly raised his head, and asked in a lowvoice, "Mr. Simpson, are you really planning to remain silent for now?"
