My Ex-husband Begs Me Back
Chapter 998: Change

Chapter 998: Change

Grace hesitated for a few seconds before speaking, "I'm not sure, but Iguess it's probably to gain control of Armstrong Corp's executive powerwithin the Armstrong family. Because of Cami's shares, my dad... hecan't compete with Horace anymore. Every decision has to go throughHorace's approval, and he can't accept that.”

"So, he wants to use the Wesley family to regain control of ArmstrongCorp?"

“It seems that way, because my dad has had a lot of disagreementswith Horace lately, even though they haven't had heated arguments. But I know he must be upset.”

Ayan narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze enveloped in a coldness. Hechuckled lightly and said, "In that case, we should talk to Horaceinstead of hurting Camille.”

“I'm sorry, I know what they're doing is wrong, but I can't change it, solL."

“This isn't your fault, so no need to apologize. But if you don't want tobecome the second victim, you should confess your relationship withHorace as soon as possible. It's best to make it clear and indisputable.Otherwise, Camille's situation today might be yours tomorrow," Ayanreminded her warmly.

Ayan rarely interfered in other people's affairs and wouldn't have saidso much if it weren't for Grace's genuine concern for Camille. Graceunderstood that Ayan's words were not just empty talk, and her heartwas filled with unease.

Their conversation didn't last long, and Ayan didn't want Camille toknow about it. He would take care of everything, and Camille needed tobe happy.

After ending the call, Ayan deleted the call history. Just as he put hisphone down, Camille came out of the bathroom.

Ayan looked at her and asked gently, “Why did you take such a longbath?"

Camille pressed her lips lightly and replied softly, "I was a bit tired andwanted to soak for a while."

She walked over to Ayan and hugged him. "I'm a bit annoyed."

Ayan chuckled, "Annoyed about what? Is it because of tonight? I've toldyou not to think about it. You should think about what dishes to preparefor Grandpa and my parents tomorrow.”

Camille tilted her head up from his embrace, looking at him with aplayful expression. She asked, “Isn't this something you should beworried about? My job is just to chat with Grandpa and keep Timmycompany.”

Ayan responded confidently, “Isn't managing the affairs at home yourresponsibility?"

Camille narrowed her eyes slightly and chuckled, "Who said that?"

"I did."

"Well, your say doesn't count. I'll tell Mom, and be careful not to getbarred from entering the Simpson's mansion gates,” she teased.

Ayan asked in a deep voice, "You're being so ruthless to me?"

Camille raised an eyebrow and replied, “Well, we are technicallydivorced now, just ex-husband and ex-wife."

Ayan grabbed her waist firmly, his voice low and hoarse. “Do I need tocorrect you? Even though we're divorced, we still live in the samehouse."

Camille narrowed her eyes slightly, lightly teasing him. "Mr. Simpson, aren't you a bit too overbearing? I want to refuse, but it seems I can't."Ayan snorted softly. "Dream on."

Camille reached out and playfully tapped his chest before smilinggently. “You're just too domineering, Mr. Simpson.”

Ayan then pinched her cheek and said, “I'm going to take a shower."Camille responded with a soft "Mmm," and as Ayan went to thebathroom, the atmosphere in the bedroom returned to tranquility.Camille lay on the bed, her mood still somewhat low.

Though Ayan had said many comforting words, there were still thingsshe couldn't stop thinking about. Camille picked up her phone and senta message to Sienna, briefly explaining what had happened at theArmstrong family tonight and the things Brody and Page had said.Even though it was late, Camille still wanted to share this with Sienna. After sending the message, she didn't expect an immediate responsefrom Sienna, so she switched to browsing other things. However, withinmoments, she received a notification that Sienna had replied. It wasquite surprising that Sienna was still awake at this hour.

Sienna replied, "They've never considered you as family, and it's beenlike this for a long time. Just the fact that they sent you to yourgrandmother's house in Flento shows they have no familial feelings foryou. Your grandmother has no blood relation to you, so didn't they thinkabout whether she would treat you well? Of course, your grandmotheris the best to you, but shouldn't parents be worried? But they aren't. Sowhy should you be sad or upset because of them? It's completelyunnecessary, and they're not worthy of it!"

Sienna spoke earnestly, each word a criticism of the Armstrong family, filled with her concern for Camille.

After listening to Sienna, a faint smile appeared on Camille's face. Shereplied in a soft voice, "You're right. They haven't treated me well, sowhy should I care about their words?"

Indeed, why should she care about people who didn't care about her?Sienna continued to express her disapproval of Brody and Page andadvised Camille not to have any soft feelings for them. If they evercame seeking help, Camille should simply ignore them.

Camille agreed with Sienna’s sentiments. They both understood that itwas best to respect each other's boundaries.

After a few more exchanges on this topic, Camille changed the subjectand asked, "Why are you still awake at this hour?"

Sienna replied with an embarrassed facepalm emoji, "Oh, you know, newlyweds and all!"

Camille chuckled softly, "Alright, goodnight!"

After ending the conversation with Sienna, Camille put her phone downand lay back. Despite the unpleasant events of tonight, Sienna’'s wordsand the support from her and Ayan had helped ease Camille'semotions, allowing her to sleep well.

The following day was when the old Simpson, along with Fletcher andTalia, would return. Camille told Sienna she wouldn't be going to thecompany and instead would return to the Simpson's mansion withTimmy after having breakfast.

Ayan, of course, headed to the company.

Both cars left Franklin Bay at around the same time. Before departing,Ayan told Camille, "When we get back to the Simpson's mansion, don'toverthink things. If anyone calls, you don't need to answer, no matterwhat they say. Just ignore them, alright?"

Camille nodded, saying, "I understand. I won't overthink thingsanymore."

Ayan continued, "Whether it's the Armstrong family or the Wesleyfamily, let me handle it. If there's any problem, just come to me. No onehas the right to take you away from my side, whether it's in Hance orChesen."

Camille couldn't help but smile at his words. She playfully asked, "Isthis your way of confessing your love?"

Ayan snorted lightly, "You heartless woman, are you trying to pour coldwater on me again?"

"How could you think of me that way? I'm not like that at all. Don'tmisunderstand me!" Camille playfully denied his teasing. Just then, thenanny came out carrying Timmy. And she said, "Alright, you get goingto the company. We're heading back to the Simpson's mansion 100."Ayan nodded, saying, "Okay, give me a message when you arrive.”"Sure."

The return trip to the Simpson's mansion was, as usual, driven by theirchauffeur. Camille sat in the back with Timmy, her eyes filled withmotherly affection as she watched over him. It made her wonder whyshe couldn't sense any love from Page and Brody.

Camille found it ironic that, despite all her efforts to please them, itseemed she would never gain their affection. She couldn't help butwonder what other schemes the Armstrong family had in store to forceand manipulate her.

Meanwhile, at the company, Ayan arrived and soon after, Horaceentered his office. They sat down on the office sofa, and Ayan gotstraight to the point, asking, "Does Mr. Burris want to change thecurrent management model of Armstrong Corp?"
