My Flirtacious Husband (Genevieve and Armand) -
Chapter 1385
Chapter 1385 Make My Boyfriend Happy
Jerry grabbed her wrist, holding back for a while before saying, "It's minus one degree today. Change out of that short skirt."
"You know very well I don't like long pants," Charlotte said as she leaned in to give the man a kiss. "Don't worry. I'll wear a coat outside, so I won't be cold. Bye!" Her skirt brushed against his wrist as she turned and walked away.
Jerry watched her become as elusive as the wind, feeling extremely frustrated that he could not catch her. Annoyed, he picked up his phone and made a call. "Follow her."
As Charlotte stepped out, she casually grabbed the gray scarf hanging on the coat rack. It carried Jerry's scent, faint but pleasant.
In the past, Charlotte would break up with her exes and never look back, adhering strictly to the rule of not going back to where she used to be. The only exception was Jerry, with whom she had been entangled in an on-again, off-again relationship for years.
Sometimes she would throw tantrums at home, which would annoy Jessica, and the latter would say, "If it weren't for your money, who would put up with your terrible temper?"
Now that Charlotte was bankrupt, Jerry was still spoiling her.
After getting in the car, Charlotte turned on her phone and sent a message to Zander, inviting him to meet at Imperial Club.
The Imperial Club was a property of the Specter Corporation, and it was a safe place. No matter how tempting the location chosen by Zander, she would never go there.
Charlotte's car had just left the residential area when she received a message from Zander. Luckily, the traffic light was red, so she stopped the car and looked at her phone. Her face turned pale as she read the content of the message.
This damn pervert! Even Jerry and I haven't fooled around like this before.
Charlotte took a deep breath, resisting the urge to call and curse. She restarted the car but did not head to the club. Instead, she drove toward the store Zander had mentioned.
Not even ten minutes after she entered the small shop by the street, she came out and drove to the club, completely unaware that a car was following her from behind.
The Imperial Club did not open until 11 o'clock, but Charlotte entered through the back door and headed straight to the private room on the second floor where she had chatted with Zander last time. When she pushed the door open, Zander was already waiting inside.
He wore a shirt and vest with black sleeve garters on his sleeve, giving off an air of authority. Upon hearing the door open, he looked up and glanced toward the entrance.
Zander asked with great interest. "Which did you choose in the end?"
Charlotte did not answer. As she walked in, she immediately noticed the small box she had seen last time on the marble table.
In another corner, there was an even more exquisite rectangular box.
She picked up the box and opened it, revealing Edouard Frenhofer's La Belle Noiseuse.
"Relax," Zander spoke while Charlotte examined the painting. "Other than money, I also spent quite a bit of connection to get this painting."
Charlotte said, "I know you wouldn't dare to deceive me with a fake, so I'm only checking it."
She could not recall what year it was when Charlotte asked Jerry to accompany her on a trip to Saintnam. Coincidentally, they stumbled upon an auction, and the hotel manager handed them a brochure. Jerry mentioned an elder in his family was fond of Edouard Frenhofer's La Belle Noiseuse, and Charlotte offered to bid it the evening and give it to him.
She ultimately had an argument with Jerry in the afternoon for some unknown reason and angrily booked a flight back to Jadeborough by herself. Later that evening, Jerry also returned, carrying her belongings with him.
A few days ago, she saw someone showing off their grandfather's painting collection on Instagram, which reminded her of this matter.
She remembered Zander had an elder working in an auction house, and the people there would share information. Perhaps they would know who bought Edouard Frenhofer's painting, so she sought his help. As expected, she did not choose the wrong person. Zander really did buy the painting for her.
Charlotte was not interested in antiques and paintings. After giving it a quick glance, she rolled the painting up, put it back in the box, and closed the lid. Then, she took out her phone and transferred the money to Zander.
She felt her heart ripped apart as she transferred the considerable sum of money.
Though, she did not mind. The most important thing was to make her boyfriend happy.
