Dory walked into the shopping mall with the twenty dollars in her hand.

She went straight to the stationary section.

This was her first time inside the stationary shop. There were so many different stationary supplies around, she felt dizzy just looking at them. And every one of them had a different price tag.

Dory began comparing prices.

She had made a shopping list and decided on a budget.

She needed a school bag, a pencil box, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, etc.

She also wanted to save some of the money from her twenty dollars.

After doing some thorough calculating, she finally picked out all the items she needed and came to a total that was just under twenty dollars. Dory was extremely proud of herself.

Just as she walked up to the counter to pay, another little girl skipped over while holding her mother's hand.

There were a lot of things inside the little girl's shopping basket.

When the little girl saw Dory, her eyes widened in surprise.

She was surprised to see Dory holding a shopping basket and it had stationary inside.

"Dory! You've come to do some shopping as well!"

The little girl's name was Dahlia. She and her grandmother were Dory's neighbors.

Every year, Dahlia would come and stay at her grandmother's place for a few months.

Because her parents lived in the city, Dahlia felt that she was superior to the other children in the suburbs.

Dory felt embarrassed.

Dory recognized that it was Dahlia.

"Yes. I'll be going to primary school very soon. My mommy gave me twenty dollars to buy my school supplies." Dory replied.

Dahlia looked at her suspiciously, "You're going to school?! Which one are you going to? What's it called?"

Dahlia didn't believe that Dory was going to school!

She didn't stay at her grandmother's place for very long, but even she knew that Dory was the poorest kid in the area! Regardless of how poor any of the kids were, they all went to kindergarten.

But not Dory!

A girl like her who never attended kindergarten, was going to school?!

Dahlia didn't think that was possible!

Dory told her the name of her school.

Aimeen had mentioned it in passing and Dory made a point to remember it.

Dahlia didn't recognize that school, but her mother did.

Dahlia's mother found this

suspicious and asked, "Are you sure Dory? That's one of the best schools

in the city! How did a girl like you get into such a prestigious school?"

en Ebookex

Dory didn't know that it was the best school in the city, all she knew about it was it's name.

Because she made sure to remember it!

She nodded. "Yes, that's the school."

Dahlia's mother sneered.

She then said, "Oh Dory, how shameful of you. I always thought you were an honest little girl, but here you are lying to my face. There's no way a girl like you could go to that school, when my own

dear Dahlia couldn't get in."

Dahlia's mother turned to Dahlia and

med, "Dahlia, the school

is the school your cousin

is attending."

Dahlia's eyes opened wide.

What?!

Her cousin was studying in that school!

Now she recognized it!

It was the best school in the city!

Her cousin managed to get into that school because her father was a city official. That's why her cousin got in so easily!

But for her, she had to go to a regular primary school in the city.

Dory is studying in the same school with my cousin?

She couldn't believe it!

This was impossible!

How was it possible for Dory to do this?!

Dory was bragging!
