Dory's small body began trembling.

Her eyes were wide open.

Aimeen wasn't her real mother?

She had never thought about that before.

But after hearing these two neighbors discuss the possibility, the thought suddenly lodged itself hard into her mind.

Just then, Aimeen came back from the restroom.

When the two neighbors saw her come back into the ward, they both quickly stopped talking.

Aimeen noticed that Dory was awake.

She had misunderstood Dory's shocked expression from what she heard earlier as her being caught from pretending to be hurt!

She was only pretending to be hurt the entire time!

She was obviously fine since she was wide awake right now!

"Didn't think anyone noticed huh?!"

Aimeen felt a murderous fire raging inside her.

Under her rage, Aimeen didn't care that her two neighbors were there, she yelled at Dory, "What are you looking at with that dumb expression on your face, huh?! Are you trying to show off that you are better than me?! Are you stupid?! What good is it for you to keep up the act here?!"

"Don't think you've fooled me! I knew you were fine the entire time! You're just putting up an act to garner sympathy from others!"

Both of the neighbors got up and talked back to Aimeen. "Aimeen, how can you say that? Your daughter just woke up and you're already accusing her of such terrible things! You're going too far!"

"Yeah, if any of our daughters were hospitalized, we would rush over to see if they were okay the moment they woke up! How could you be so inhumane to her?"!

Aimeen became defensive when faced with these accusations.

"You both have no idea what you're talking about! There's a reason I treat her this way! You think she's all goody and well-behaved! The truth is, she's nothing like that at all!"

"She's an absolute monster to me! She puts on an act when she's with other people, but is a complete animal when she's alone with me!"

"What mother doesn't love their own

children? I've held back from scolding and beating her this whole time! There is a reason I've beaten her up today! She's horrible! O Absolutely horrible!" "She may be a young girl, but don't be fooled by her act! She's rottento the core. She's always thinking of sneaky tricks to get other people to think poorly of me and accuse me of being a horrible mother!"

"Like today for example! She spilled flour and ketchup all over the kitchen floor and made an absolute mess of things. I slapped her twice before she pretended to faint!"

"So you tell me now! What would you have done if you had such a horrible child?! I assure you, you'd end up just like me! Frustrated and angry at how horrible she is!" She ranted like a madwoman, distorting facts.

Aimeen had tears and snot flowing down her face as she raged!

This made her look like she was telling the truth!

Naturally, Dory heard all of it too.

Normally, Dory would have spoken up and denied these accusations.

But she didn't, because she wasn't that same child anymore.

Right now, she wasn't bothered by Aimeen's wild allegations. She was still dumbstruck at the thought that she wasn't with her real mother.

Aimeen wasn't her real mother.

Her real mother would never treat her like this.

Just then, Dory started breathing heavily.

For the longest time, all of her doubts seemed to have found an answer!
