My emotions threaten to overwhelm me as I take in the scene in frontof me, instinctively holding Elias closer to my body, as my eyes land onhis blood covered father who is laughing manically while Mateo andRhys pin him down against the grey wall by his arms.

On the floor lay eight dead and decapitated clan members, blood issplattered cross the walls, floor and the metal chair that has beentwisted, bent and ripped from the place in the floor where it was bolteddown, and had been tossed against the wall the amount of rubble thatused to be a part of the wall but is now covering the floor making thatclear to me.

" What the hell happened? " I growl.

" A little help over here! " Rhys calls out, Darius and Phoenix both runover to help keep Kai pinned against the wall.

Growling in frustration, I hold my palm upright then flip it in Kai'sdirection whispering in Latin, his body instantly falls slack against thefour vampires, who all turn to me with wide eyes.

"I asked what happened? " I raise my eyebrows and shake my head.

" Uh, the first two came in to check on him. He must have gotten hishands free somehow, he killed them both, another seen, shouted thatMal killed them but that he was still half bound, I came up to get youguys, obviously thinking that the six of them would manage but I'mguessing he got free and then obviously killed them too. " Dariusexplains, gesturing to the bodies as he does.

Looking away from the dead, I turn to Phoenix. " Could you replace sometype of urns for them to be kept in, I don't feel right about their lovedones seeming them like this. Find their loved ones by the way, let themknow we'll hold some kind of post cremation ceremony so they can saytheir goodbyes, please? *

He agrees, giving me a small smile before leaving the room. " Do youguys mind checking if Atticus would be able to come help? You two canhandle taking care of Dyna and Elias right? " I direct my questiontoward Dahlia and Lila, who both nod as an answer, Lila takes Elias intoher arms carefully then the pair of them run off, seeming grateful to begetting out of here.

It doesn't take long for Atticus to enter the room, looking around with ablank expression but his eyes are letting me know exactly how upset heis about the sight in front of him.

" You needed me? " He clears his throat, shifting from one foot to theother.

" Yeah uh, could you guys help move the bodies somewhere outside sowe can cremate them? " I say to Mateo, Rhys and Darius, who allinstantly start doing as I've asked.

" Cremate them? " Atticus questions. " You want me to burn them? *This gains the attention of the three vampires who are in the middle oflifting the dead. " Yes, Phoenix is out getting urns to put them in, I thinkthis will be hard enough for anyone who cares for them without havingto see that they have had their heads separated from their bodies. *

" That is a fair point, I'll get on it. " He purses his lips as his eyes fall onKai's unconscious body on the ground, but doesn't address it insteadhe turns toward the door. " Are you coming? "

" I'll follow you out, start without me. " I give him a weak smile, hereturns the gesture then leaves me alone with my insane mate.

I inch over to him cautiously, dropping to my knees beside him andplacing a hand on his forehead and the other over his chest. As I beginto chant quietly, his pitch black eyes flick open, he immediately starts tofight to get to his feet, but I use my strength to push him back downwith the hand that's on his chest, making him shout profanities.

The same as before everything I try to do seems to fail and only sendhim further into insanity. Feeling completely defeated, I knock him backout, only now noticing Phoenix who is leaning against the doorway,watching me.

Standing up, I move toward him. * What were you doing to him? " Hequestions.

"I was trying to reverse the damage done to his psyche from comingback from the dead, everything I do just doesn't work, it's rooted toodeep. " I mumble.

" So he's definitely lost then? " Phoenix asks, gesturing towards hisbrother.

I nod, my eyes watering as I look over my shoulder at the body on thefloor. " He is officially just a body who looks like the man I love. "

" We should probably go outside, I just need to figure out how tosecurely lock him up so he can't break out and do any more damagebecause I have no idea what else to do with him. * He sighs, movingaround me to walk over to his brother's body.

Everything seems to move in slow motion as I turn around to offer myhelp only to see Kai springing to his feet, a murderous look in his eyesas he charges toward Phoenix.

Kai sends a full force kick into his brother's chest, knocking him acrossthe room and landing on the floor on his back with a wince. Horroroverwhelms me as he marches over to Phoenix, ready to kill.

"No! " I scream, holding my palms toward him, the energy emittedfrom my scream sends Kai flying backward and directly into the wall,causing further damage to the room as the brick cracks and bits ofcement and dust fall to the floor.

Running to Phoenix, I grab his hand pulling him to his feet. * Are youokay? " I question, giving him a look over to check for any injuries Ihadn't noticed before but I replace none.

* Cori move! " He grunts out, harshly pushing me behind him in timefor me to see Kai coming at us.

Phoenix grabs Kai's hand that had been aimed to lodge itself intoPhoenix's or my chest, forcing it all the way back to the point of a loudsnap echoing off the four walls. Instinctually, Phoenix does exactly whatKai had attempted to do, plunging his hand into his brother's chest andripping his heart out of it.

A loud cry passes my lips at the same moment that Phoenix begins topant in shock, his eyes are wide as they fall onto the heart in his fist, hedrops it to the floor, stumbling backwards.

"1 didn't. I didn't mean to.. " He gasps, tears pouring down his facerapidly. " In life or death fights you just do- I. No no no. "

He continues to mutter to himself in denial, shaking his head back andforth as he does so, jumping when I place a trembling hand onto hisshoulder. " It.. It was life or death. " I confirm

"1 just killed him. * Phoenix cries.

" He was already gone. " I whisper. " He died when Cain killed him, thiswas just his body. "

"1 just murdered my brother. " He sobs, falling to his knees.
