Chapter 57

Patrick was momentarily stunned. When Liam wrapped his hand around his finger, Patrick felt eerily suffocated, as though an invisible hand was choking him. Before he knew it, his finger had already been snapped in half. He immediately got onto his knees.

He clutched his broken finger and snarled at his two bodyguards, What the fuck are you doing? Why aren’t you helping me up? Useless fucks! I’m the heir of the goddamn Hughes family! My father will kill you! Just you wait! I’m going to give you a taste of your own medicine! Get him! Teach him a lesson!”

Thud

All of a sudden, Liam kicked Patrick away without warning. It sent him scaring a few feet into the air and finally landing on a nearby table, which collapsed under his weight. Patrick was in so much pain that he could not even get up and instead curled himself into a ball and wailed in agony.

Everyone was utterly stunned by this. No one dared to make a sound for the first minute or so. Suddenly, everyone erupted into murmurs and whispers.

‘Is he for real? I can’t believe he had the guts to do that to Mr. Hughes!

“He’s dead, I tell you! I hear that Patrick’s father, Peter Hughes, loves his son more than anyone else in this world. He won’t rest until he gets his revenge!”

“Liam Cole is a piece of work! He’s been behaving far too recklessly lately. Do you think it’s because he found someone he could depend on? How dare he do this to Patrick? It’s as though he doesn’t care what the Hughes will do to him after this! He’s so much different than

before. I’m scared!”

Cheryl quickly stumbled over to Patrick’s side, dragging her heavy dress behind her, and helped him up. She asked with a worried look, Are you okay, Patrick? How do you feel?”

As she helped him up, Patrick spat out a mouthful of blood on her beautiful train. The bright red blood was a stark contrast against the white lace, and Cheryl was infuriated by this. She turned to scowl at Liam. “What the hell are you trying to do, Liam Cole? How dare your gatecrash my engagement party? Why can’t you and that bitch Celena stay away from us? You’re both disgusting! Guards! Come get this man out of here!”

Both the Hughes and the Stones’ bodyguards stepped forward and lunged toward Liam.

Just as everyone thought Liam would surely meet his end, he stood his ground firmly. With a swish of his sleeve, all the men who were running toward him immediately flew backward and landed on the ground in crumpled heaps.

Everyone was utterly stunned. Was this still the weak, ordinary Liam that they remembered?

What happened during the past few years? He seemed to have returned with martial arts training!

They had severely underestimated him!

Liam finally adjusted his sleeve as though this was just an ordinary occurrence and then turned to glare at Cheryl. “Cheryl Stone, there’s something you Stones still owe me. I’ve held this grudge for seven years, and now I’m finally here to claim back what was rightfully mine! You’re the culprit behind Celena’s downfall, and I won’t rest until you get the punishment you deserve! Mark my words!”

With that, he glanced at Yafe with bloodshot eyes and snarled, “Yafe,

it’s about time you give me back what’s mine!”

All of a sudden, Calum stepped forward and placed the wooden box he had been holding all this while on the table, then ceremoniously whipped open the black cloth, uncovering its contents!
