Chapter 84

“Dad, I’ve got it all figured out, and Wasyl is on board. We’re meeting with Mr. Lynch tomorrow. Once I’ve got that partnership deal in hand, we’ll bounce back from our recent setbacks,” Cheryl said, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm.

With that deal, Celena would not stand a chance of worming her way back into the Stone family. The title of the family’s darling daughter was hers alone.

Yafe’s laughter echoed hers, filling the study. He savored a sip of tea, content with their plan.

Sherah sat by the window in a softly lit room, her face etched with concern as she gazed at her son, Qemal, resting on the bed. She leaned forward and said worryingly, “Qemal, are you in a lot of pain?”

Qemal let out a continuous moan. He turned to his mother with a

plaintive look, pleading, “Mom! My arm’s broken, it’s excruciating! can’t stand it, and it’s all Liam’s fault. You have to make him pay!”

Sherah’s heart ached as if it were breaking into pieces. “Oh, Qemal, my poor boy! I knew that wretched Celena would bring trouble the moment she appeared! However, don’t you fret, my dear. I won’t let anyone hurt you without consequence.”

With that, Sherah stormed down to Yafe’s study. Inside, she found Yafe and her daughter Cheryl laughing, which only fueled her rage. She burst through the door, her voice thundering, “That’s enough! Cheryl, how can you laugh when your brother’s arm is broken?”

After a brief reprimand, she ushered Cheryl out and took a seat beside her husband. She said softly with a hint of sorrow, “Honey, can we really let Celena take that Liam back to the Stone family? He’s ruined Cheryl’s engagement with the Hughes family, and now he’s hurt

The thought of her son’s injured arm brought tears to Sherah’s eyes. Her usual beautiful appearance looked pitiful at that moment.

Yafe quickly wrapped his arms around her, and said with concern. What’s happened to Qemal?”

Qemal’s hand was in bad shape, all bandaged up with a splint. His whole arm was swollen like a balloon. “Honey, we’ve coddled Qemal since he was a baby. He’s never had to deal with anything this bad!” Sherah exclaimed, her face etched with worry.

“Honey, are we seriously considering letting Celena and that good-for- nothing from the Cole family waltz back into the Stone family? After the mess they’ve stirred up, we’ve been the town’s joke for way too long! Plus, he injured Qemal. We can’t just brush this off. If you don’t stand up for our boy, this isn’t going to end well!”

Yafe had no desire to see Celena back in the Stone household either. His dislike for Celena’s mother had spilled over to Celena herself, and he would rather forget he even had a daughter like her.

“Okay, okay! Don’t worry, dear. I’m not keen on them returning either, but Dad gave his word. You know as well as I do that even though I’m the head of the Stone family, he’s the one calling the shots. Liam is just a thug. There’s no way he’s getting his hands on that Walker family project deal!”
