It has been two months since I escaped with Alex from the pack dungeons, and I still believe we made the right decision to leave the pack. Without people around us, Alex is not pressured to learn how to control all of his powers, and after he learned how to open portals, we have found a tiny home in the magical realm.

With grass for a roof and smoke coming out from its tiny chimney, it’s home. We bought this place from a wizard with stolen golden coins, and I regret nothing. The hut is bigger on the inside because of magic, and we love it here.

While I boil water on the stove, I hear the door opening behind me. Heavy footsteps hit the floorboard, and I smile. “You’re back early from your hunt.”

“I found a deer right away,” Alex says, and I turn around to see him bring the meat onto the table with a big smile on his lips. “How was your day?”

I place a hand on my stomach, smiling. “It was excellent, but it’s getting harder and harder to get around for mama wolf.”

“I can see that,” Alex murmurs and approaches me. He hugs me from behind, strokes a big gentle hand over my belly, and places a k**s on my shoulder. “I like that you’re a shower, but if you replace it hard to get around, you probably like that werewolves aren’t pregnant that long. Just a few more weeks, baby.”

“Oh, I don’t mind being pregnant—I have a handsome mate who takes care of my needs and who loves my gorgeous body right now.”

Alex chuckles. “Your mate sounds like a dream come true.”

“He really is.”

“Tell me more about this mate of yours.”

“What else is there to say? He is tall and roughly handsome with rainbow eyes and has this sexy smattering of dark hair on his pecs. Like, oh my god, touching that area makes me so horny every time.”

Alex growls in my ear, a playful sound we use in bed. “I love how horny you are while pregnant. It’s such a turn-on. All I think about is you, Tarryn, even when I’m hunting. It’s becoming a problem, and it’s probably dangerous too.”

An even wider smile breaks out over my lips, and I purr like a cat starved for attention when Alex gets more handsy. His rough, calloused fingers slide into the hem of my pants, and I press my a*s against his hard-on, happy that he is excited.

“Why is it a problem?” I challenge him in a flirtatious tone. “All you have to do to get some is to come home to me, and I will gladly give you anything you want.”

“You’re sweet,” Alex picks me up into his muscular arms and takes a seat on one of the chairs with me sitting on his lap. My feet aren’t quite touching the ground, but resting right over his larger feet, and his nose presses against the side of my neck. He inhales over and over again before murmuring. “I love you. You know that, right?”

“I love you too,” I twist a little on his lap to meet his rainbow eyes. His attention is solely focused on me, and the twitching from his fox ears makes me laugh. Alex might not be a werewolf anymore, but I love him anyway. “Even if you’re a fox demon monster, you’re still my mate, and I will love you forever. You make me happy, and with you by my side, I don’t need anybody else. You’re my home.”

Alex leans in to k**s me on the lips while his hands are on my belly, holding me in place on his lap. It’s sweet and passionate, and lovely. I m**n into his mouth, lost to the feeling of his mouth against mine. He smiles at that, thrusting in his tongue and lightly flicking it against mine until I’m a pure mess on his lap. My l**t is skyrocketing, which is bad. Today we are going to have guests over, and I snap open my eyes.

“Bad fox!” I growl, and Alex laughs when I push away his stupidly handsome face to the side so that I can calm down. But no matter what, I can’t make my heart stop pounding and deeply inhale. “You know that my parents are on their way here, right? You can’t just k**s me like that and get me all excited when we are supposed to cook dinner!”

Alex laughs. “Honey, they are werewolves just like you—they know what it’s like to have a mate. And besides, they need me to open a portal again, and I won’t do that until after I’m done with you. We have time.”

All I need to be convinced is to look into Alex’s eyes for the billionth time and feel that familiar feeling of butterflies fluttering in my belly. I got it good for this man, and my love for him only grows each day. I love him and can’t wait for him to become my baby daddy.

My chest constricts with emotion, and I sob. “I love you so much, Alex. You don’t even know how lucky I am to be with you. You’re perfect and so damn hot, and I’m… I’m just… sorry… I feel rather emotional and hormonal. I’m ruining this sexy moment, aren’t I?”

“No, you’re not,” Alex k****s the underside of my jaw and hugs me tighter to him with all his tails brushing against my skin. He and his warmth surround me, and I lean into him when I feel his soft, pillowy lips trail scorching hot k****s down the nape of my neck. “You’re perfect, Tarryn, and I think you’re perfect too—my gorgeous little mate. I’m so lucky to have you in my life, and if you don’t want to have s*x right now, then I don’t need it. All I want is to be with you. Hug you. K**s you. Touch you. That’s enough to make me happy.”

It shouldn’t be possible, but my heart beats with even more love for the gorgeous man holding me, and I close my eyes. The moon goddess couldn’t have picked a better mate for me. I’m happier than ever, and every day feels like a dream.

Alex inhales the scent of my hair that is spilling out from the ponytail on my head, and I shudder when he whispers. “I love you too, Tarryn. Always and forever. You’re my girl, and I can’t wait for our little son to be born.”
