My Mommy’s Brave Heart (Adina and Duke) -
Chapter 1018
Chapter 1018 "The Heart of the Ocean cost about a hundred million dollars.
'Logically, this bracelet and necklace shouldn't be owned by the same person.
'Is it just an imitation?'
Daniel kept his guesses to himself and showed a warm smile, "These earrings and bracelets will go well with your gown. Take a look. Do you like it?" He handed over the two jewelry boxes in his hand. Ruth held her breath again.
'He gave me a gown, and now he's giving me jewelry too?
Did he fall in love with me at first sight?'
She opened the box and her eyes were blinded by the sparkling jewelry. She gulped and said in disbelief, "This pair of earrings look very expensive. It must've cost at least one million dollars."
Daniel remained silent.
'With one million, I can only get a small diamond on the earring.'
He said calmly, "Around there."
"That's way too expensive!" Ruth quickly gave the box back. "Mr. Jones, this gown has cost you a lot of money. I can't take anything from you anymore." 'I might be vain, and I might actually want these two pieces of jewelry... 'But I want to leave a good impression.'
She clutched her chest. Her heart was beating rapidly.
It was her first time feeling this kind of rush.
From the moment he called out to me and walked towards her with light shining behind him, I fell for him.'
"Keep it, it's not that expensive." Daniel said, "It's no use for me to keep them. I can get rid of it if you won't take it."
'It's not that expensive?!'
Ruth was stunned.
'How rich can this man be?'
"Thank you, Mr. Jones."
She put on a full set of jewelry in front of him.
He then nodded, "You look gorgeous, Ms. Willis. They suit you well. Let's head back to the banquet hall."
Then two of them stood in a row and headed back.
At the back of the corridor, Harold poked his head out quietly. He clapped his hands with satisfaction and a long-lost smile.
It was pitch dark when Adeena returned to her apartment. Neither Brady nor Ruth were home yet.
When she went to the bathroom, she looked at her own reflection in the mirror. There was no more lipstick on her lip. Instead, they looked purplish.
That man was so rough. It felt as if he was about to consume her.
She lowered her head and washed her face with cold water. She looked in the mirror and told herself, "Adeena Willis, that man is married. Stay away from him!" Right after she said that, a little girl popped into her mind.
It was Melody.
Her heart ached for her.
For some reason, she flashed back to the time she met Grapie by the road. As the two little girls popped into her mind, she realized they looked similar to each other. However, Melody looked melancholic, while Grapie was a lively and lovely little girl.
'One with a mother, and the other without one.
"The two of them were equally pitiful.
Brady only came back after Adeena came out of the shower.
He smelled like alcohol, but was still sober.
"Brady, how're things?" Adeena came and asked.
Brady massaged his temple. "The people at Winters Corporation are very kind, and no one is giving me a hard time. I felt really bad, so I toasted with them a little too much. I'm heading back to my room to get some rest." Just as he stood up, the apartment door opened.
