I had barely even felt the fluttering touch of his palm. Just as I regained my footing, he quickly retreated to the side.

I understood. After all, we were in public, and this was Andrea's territory. It was logical for him to draw the line.

Before I could come back to my senses, Andrea flew into another fit of rage. She pointed at me and screamed, "You again? You b*tch. Hendrix has already left you and your kids. For me, he is willing to throw away his dignity. Yet, you still want to protect him? You deserve everything that has happened to you!"

Gritting my teeth, I glared back and tried to hold my tongue. She had gone mad, and speaking more would only make things worse.

"What, you're not convinced? That's right. What else can you do to me other than glare at me? You saw what happened just now, didn't you? Hendrix, your beloved, stood beside me pathetically, not daring to say even a word in retaliation. Are you heartbroken?" She suddenly laughed, "I don't love him, but I won't let him go. As for you, you'll get what's coming to you soon."

"Have you had enough?" Hendrix suddenly asked, his voice as cold as ice.

"Hendrix! Why are you talking to me like that? Have you forgotten what you've done to me? You owe me a lifetime of hard work. What right do you have to criticize me here?" She still had no intention of putting an end to the matter and even vented her anger on the onlooking crew. "What are you all looking at? All of you get lost! You guys are just a bunch of good-for-nothings who slack on the job!"

Everyone was indignant, but no one said anything because she was a contributor to their income. With that, they left the scene.

Hendrix had no time to care about her anymore. He strode over to Andrea, grabbed her wrist, and dragged her away from the set. "Hendrix, let me go. I said let me go. Do you hear me?"

It was not until their figures disappeared from sight that Andrea's clamor finally ended.

However, when the crowd dispersed, I glanced around and saw the expressionless Jordan outside the studio.

There was no doubt that he had witnessed everything that had happened with Hendrix.

We locked eyes. Out of guilt, I looked away.

However, I could still feel that his eyes were cutting through me like a knife.

After a long stare, Jordan narrowed his eyes and withdrew his gaze. Then, he left.

Had he seen through me? Or was he just jealous?

I could not be sure, but I had only one choice, which was to believe that it was the latter.

The more jealous Jordan was, the more I had to avoid showing up in front of him from now on.

Making him jealous would help with making him fall in love with me. By the time he realized his feelings for me, it would be too late.

I did not bother to explain nor even look for him. In fact, I did not even bother taking a flirty text. I just quietly went over to Aaron's house and picked up the kids. I spent my time focused on them.

For three days in a row, all my attention was focused on taking care of my children.

Finally, on Saturday afternoon, after I coaxed Aurelia to sleep and was ready to rest in the backyard, Jordan suddenly appeared.

He stood on the stone road leading to the back door, looking at me motionlessly. Maybe because of the bad weather, he looked a little sad.

I was still wearing the matching

pajamas I had with Aurelia, and my hair was tied up simply behind my back. I was not nicely put together at all. I honestly had no idea how he could put on such a gloomy face in front of a woman like me.

"You're here." I greeted him calmly, like an old friend I had known for a long time.

Jordan did not answer. He just looked at me silently. His deep eyes seemed to bear all the disappointment in the world. There was not a trace of light in his eyes.

"Sit down."was still indifferent as if

I didn't notice his change in mood at

all. I poured a cup of hot tea forhim politely. "Have a cup of tea to warm yourself."

As I spoke, I picked up the hot tea and took a small sip, cautiously enjoying its fragrance.
