The Sherwood family dominated the medical field, and they had a big influence on the corporate world. A few years back, after the president and his wife passed away in a car accident, their daughter, Emily, took over the company. Emily was influenced by how the big corporations worked and decided to drive the company to new heights. She led the company forward by making risky choices that angered the investors and damaged their reputations. However, they remained the best pharmaceutical company in the world.

Humans got sick all the time, and medicine was a necessity. Since Emily was the lone leader of a big corporation, she must be filthy rich, so why was she doing such a sketchy illegal deal?

I met her once at a cocktail party and spoke with her a little. She was interesting and humorous, unlike all the other boring upper-class ladies. She was the furthest person from what I thought Drug Wolf would be.

Hearing Hendrix's words, Emily was not angry. Instead, she greeted me politely, "Miss Reid, nice to see you again."

I reached out to shake her hand. My hand touched only the surface of her palm ever so gently, and it felt like I was touching something so cold that her hand froze the insides of my body. I tried hard to mask my expression and pulled up the corner of my lips into a half-smile. "Hello, Miss Sherwood."

Emily pursed her lips and looked at the person behind me. The bodyguard who escorted me up took the initiative and left.

Before I could react, Emily took the initiative to speak again. "I have heard a lot about you. To be honest, I admire you very much for risking your life for love."

Her words sounded like she was insulting me. I smiled awkwardly and thanked her reluctantly, "That's far from the truth."

"Don't be modest. I'm sincere in my admiration. Haha." Emily took my hand and patted it as if we were a pair of enthusiastic old friends she had known for many years.

I only felt a cold shiver down my back. On such an occasion, I was using a brand new identity to greet the world, but the other party seemed to have seen through my trump card with ease. It scared me a little. I figured no one would feel at ease.

Emily, on the other hand, was relaxed through and through. She turned around, crossed her legs, and greeted me like a host, "Miss Reid, please, don't

stand. Have a seat."

I looked at Hendrix. After getting his permission, I sat down next to him.

As soon as I sat down, I looked up and saw Emily staring at Hendrix and me. She narrowed her eyes and smiled meaningfully.

"Miss Reid and Mr. Roberts seem to

be the most famous couple in the city. Even if you both have separated, you still look very much like a married couple. The fact that you both can still work together is something out of the ordinary," Emily

flattered us.

I was trying to stay polite, but Hendrix asked nervously, "Miss Sherwood, what do you mean by that? Don't you trust me?"

"Mr. Roberts, don't think too much about it. I have absolutely no other intentions just appreciate Miss Reid's courage. I admire people that are brave and talented." Emily's expression was a little restrained, but she still looked shrewd.

Hendrix smiled and said, "Miss Sherwood, still think you should give up on those unrealistic thoughts as soon as possible. If the Reid family was really that crafty, you wouldn't know about Ariana's glorious deeds."

I could tell that Hendrix had nothing good to say about me.

It looked like Uncle Charles had never wasted any of his time believing in any of the dark secrets that were his lifeboat.
