My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 541
I was amused by his comment. "I am only twenty-six. Does it mean I can start splurging and waste my life?"
"Of course, you can spend millions every day from Reid Family's business and my properties. There's plenty of money for you to throw around as you please."
I smiled and said, "Anne is probably the most blessed child in the world. Her grandfather and uncle have paved the way for her future as she was born." Then, he raised his eyebrows, "Of course, she is my niece!" Aaron looked at me and asked in a more serious tone, "Don't you want your own child?"
I was stunned for a moment, and then I clenched my fists tightly. I didn't know what to say.
I took a deep breath before answering him, "We'll see!" It was a painful experience. When my child passed, I didn't want to have another one. That one time had caused me enough pain to last a lifetime. "With Anne around, it doesn't matter whether you want a child in the future."
I nodded and felt a pain in my chest. Frankly, I have become increasingly restless recently.
Truly, sometimes I do not know how to control my own emotions and feelings.
We stopped at one of the restaurants in the city and a valet came forward to park the car for us.
Aaron threw the car key at the valet and brought me directly into the restaurant. His handsome features were definitely a boon in skipping the queue.
People were looking at us as we entered the restaurant and we heard whispers from time to time.
Nevertheless, it made Aaron sulky. He pulled me into one of the private rooms and ordered some food before he looked at me and said, "You have lost a lot of weight breastfeeding Anne recently. Let's have something good to eat this time."
I smiled, but I could not hide the pressure I felt. Obviously, I heard the whispers when I came into the restaurant.
Those people were not looking at Aaron but me. I seemed to have forgotten that Hendrix was a young and famous entrepreneur in Ucrebury. The news about his wife committing adultery still lingers.
It was expected that people would overthink especially when I showed up here with Aaron.
I wouldn't be surprised if I were to be described as "The fickle and lascivious wife of the famous entrepreneur in Ucrebury" on newspaper headlines every day.
"What are you thinking?" Aaron flicked my forehead. He said helplessly, "Stop getting distracted. The dishes will be served soon."
I nodded my head.
Then, he frowned upon noticing the depressed look on my face. "Arianna, a person would not go far if they care too much about others. Look at those celebrities, they must have had plenty of horrible things said to them. Besides, we all know what really happened. Listen to your big brother, and don't take it to the heart, okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just want to eat some lobster. Do they serve any in the restaurant?" I said as I took a look at the menu. Meanwhile, Aaron was rendered speechless.
He facepalmed himself helplessly and said, "Okay, I'll go out and replace you some lobster. What a pain."
He got up and left the private room. Meanwhile, I sat with my head in a mess. How could I ignore the gossip? I am human after all.
It didn't matter how calm I pretended to be because I couldn't get rid of the pain in my heart.
"Look who we have here? Miss Reid's life is certainly interesting, isn't it?" Austin's appearance was rather unexpected.
He was dressed particularly well and styled his hair. He looked smart, and seemed to be on a business-related dinner.
I pursed my lips and glanced at him, "Mr. Shelley's life is quite interesting too."
The probability of him attending a business-related dinner during New Year's Eve was not high!
Sure enough, Andrea turned up behind him.
