I nodded.

"He died in a car accident, didn't he? How could he..." lan asked in confusion.

I nodded, "I saw him in Mesville. I still don't know what's going on, so I'm not sure what exactly happened to him."

I then got up and went into the room with Anne in my arms. It was feeding time.

Initially, I planned to take Anne to Flora Hill, but lan noticed me driving alone and was worried about me. He told me to pick Anne up with Hendrix next time instead. When I walked out of Bronzy Residence, I didn't have anything to do. It was still early, so I decided to go to the cemetery to visit my grandparents and Monique.

Although the traffic jam was a pain in the butt to sit through, I was fortunate enough to not have gotten stuck on the highway.

As the traffic had not moved in a long while, many drivers then got out of their cars to check what was going on.

The driver who had got out to see what had happened came back and said helplessly, "Why do young people drive so carelessly these days? The collision looks bad. There's even a pregnant woman in the car who's about to give birth. Things are critical right now."

"The man driving the Maybach is only in his twenties, but showed an outstanding temperament. He doesn't seem like a fool. Why would he drive so carelessly? I don't think we can leave just yet. Looks like we'll be stuck here for a while."

Another driver continued the conversation.

I couldn't help but look at the time. The cemetery was still a distance from where I was. It would probably be too late for me to go by the time the traffic starts moving again.

In the end, I got out of the car and went to take a look at the scene of the accident. I frowned when I saw a black Mayback sitting by the road, partially crushed from the collision. The license plate looked particularly familiar.

When I realized that it was Hendrix's car, a buzzing sound shot through my head before my legs below gave way. Then, I fell to the ground.

"Lady, are you all right? What's the matter?" A taxi driver got out of his car when he saw me fall. He quickly approached me to help me up.

Perhaps he had some first aid knowledge; he instinctively stretched his hand out to pinch my philtrum. When I felt pain coursing through my nerves only did I manage to calm down.

I stared blankly at the driver and thanked him.

"No worries!" The driver responded as he helped me up, "Do you have low blood sugar? Should I take you to the hospital?"

I shook my head and exhaled. I stood firmly and rested for a while, catching my restless breath. Then, I looked at him and said, "No, thank you. I'm fine!"

After I calmed down from shock, I started urging my legs to move forward step by step.

As there was a traffic jam, it would take a while for the ambulance to arrive. More people began gathering around the accident scene.

I stepped through the crowd and walked to the center of where everything happened.

In the crowd was a man dressed in black whose action was quick and precise. He looked to be protecting a woman standing by his side. His face was stone cold as he held a phone in his hand. It seemed that he was looking for the emergency personnel.

The ground was painted red by a growing pool of blood. It was the pregnant woman's blood. Some medical students were chasing away the people around the pregnant woman to give her space while others were busy performing first aid on her.

When my gaze fell on the pregnant woman's raised belly and the blood on her legs, I felt like I was struck by lightning.

Unconsciously, my lower abdomen began to throb. I subconsciously reached for my stomach and I couldn't help but fell a few steps backwards.

Hendrix, who was on the phone, seemed to have noticed me. His gaze darkened and he walked towards me.

Andrea, who had been standing behind him all this while, saw me as well and her face started to ashen.

"Why are you here?" He asked.

My lower abdomen was in so much pain that I couldn't help but furrow my brows as I looked at him, "I just happened to drive past here. Are you all right?"

He shook his head and noticed that my face was pale as I was in pain. He held me up horizontally and asked calmly, "Where's your car?"

"It's behind us!" I responded.

He carried me into my car. I heaved a sigh of relief after relaxing for a while.

He knitted his brows and stared at me, "Why did it suddenly hurt?"

I shook my head and took a breath, "Maybe it's from seeing a pregnant woman just now. It must have triggered me."

After a pause, I laid my eyes on him and added, "You... Why are you here?"

Andrea had followed us to my car. I had not seen her in a long time. Her face looked pale and miserable. She seemed to have lost a lot of weight.

Hendrix replied calmly, "I was sending her to the hospital, but I was absent-minded on the way and ran into someone."

It was a short explanation, but the truth may not be this simple. Hendrix had always been a careful driver. It was impossible for him to get into an accident because he was distracted.

I turned to look at Andrea. Her face was still as white as a sheet, her eyes a little swollen and layered with a red sheen. It was obvious that she had been crying.

Seeing the resentment and hatred in her eyes, I couldn't help but frown. Had I offended her again recently?

The sound of the ambulance was heard. Hendrix raised his hand to push my hair behind my ear.

Then, he consoled me in a gentle voice, "Don't overthink. Wait for me at home. I'll go back after handling this, okay?"
