I set my eyes on her. My whole head was buzzing and I couldn't say a word.

She seemed to appreciate my expression very much and continued jeering me, "How does it feel to have your own child be killed by your own mother? Does it feel good?"

I glanced at her and coughed out the words with the remaining strength I had, "What do you mean?"

She chuckled, "What? Hendrix didn't tell you that you're Valerie's daughter? Hendrix deliberately took the sandalwood box that your grandmother left for you and gave it to Valerie. He told her that it was mine. Afterwards, he exchanged my DNA with yours."

"Look, he may have said that he loves you but in actual fact, he doesn't love you at all. If he did, why would he do everything he could to send me to the Moore family? He wanted me to become the daughter of the Moore family and enjoy the life of an heiress. You, on the other hand, are just a child who was born in a remote village."

My body was like a piece of duckweed without support. I took a step back and fell butt-first on the ground. My gazes shot around the room, not knowing where best to land.

Therefore, the child's tragic death, me almost dying and Monique's death were all part of Hendrix's scheme?

"Why?" I asked, but I didn't know who I should ask of this.

Andrea mocked, "Why? What do you think is the reason? Because he doesn't love you. I am still the person he wants to protect. He wants to give me the best life. Isn't this obvious enough?"

I stared at her. For a moment, I could not say a word. All of a sudden, I burst into a particularly sick and miserable laughter, "I see. Love can be faked. Everything was fake."

Andrea laid her eyes on me, looking extremely pleased with herself. "Yes, they were all fake."

People who passed by the hospital entrance stared at me with puzzled looks when they saw me slumped on the ground.

Andrea knelt down and looked at me gloomily. She lowered her voice as she said, "You think he didn't know about the baby? He knew about it all. He just pretended that he didn't. He had already planned to get rid of it. The baby was either going to be killed by your mother or die by the drugs Josiah gave you. Arianna, the men around you are more terrible than you imagined them to be."

I felt zinc and bile rising from my throat, followed by an urge to barf. I threw up and a mouthful of blood gushed out of my mouth.

Andrea stared at me with a wider smile, "You've lost. You've completely lost."

She got up and peered at me from above. Then, she turned her back away to leave.

When Hendrix came, I stared at the bloody patch on the ground. My mind had gone blank and my heart and my whole body ached.

"Arianna, what's going on?" He asked as he reached out to help me up.

Pa!

I used up all the strength in my body to slap him, but it didn't seem like he felt anything at all.

The man's slender body stiffened and he looked dejected. He was trying to suppress his anger. He then asked again in a low and restrained voice, "What happened?"

My gaze fell on him and I suddenly felt hateful seeing this person's face. "Get out of my sight!"

He knitted his brows and lifted me off the ground. Then, he sent me back to the hospital again.

Time passed as examinations were done on me.

After a series of tests, I laid on the bed and looked at the dark LCD TV at the end of the bed with empty eyes. I lowered my voice and told him, "Hendrix, let's get a divorce!"

Divorce was the best choice.

He looked at me. The anger which he had been keeping at bay surged. He furrowed his brows and replied harshly, "Arianna, do you know what you're talking about?"
