Chapter 109

*Alright. Cora, stop talking and get out. I have something to discuss with Selina, Sara said, piercing right through the proud heart of the Harvey family. Their most prized possession was their reputation, and with so many people around, anything Cora might let slip could spell disaster for the Harvey Group!

Cora clamped her mouth shut, stunned that Selina was as tough as the rumors suggested, she didn’t take crap from anyone. Pretending to be weak and helpless in the Harvey family. To these top–tier clites, money was merely numbers, what truly mattered were connections, power, and reputation. A slight tarnish on their reputation could lead to losses in the hundreds of millions!

But letting Selina go just like that was too much for Cora to bear. Selina had sneakily married Trevon, and even if she was nothing more than a trophy wife he picked up, it felt like a betrayal to the Caleb family, as if Selina deemed the Clark family unworthy and had defected to the Brady family. If this got out, it would be a direct blow to the Caleb family’s pride! That’s why Cora loathed Selina to the core!

Under her breath, Cora hissed a venomous curse, “Don’t think that being Trevon’s wife makes you safe. You’re just a plaything for him, a decorative vase he’ll eventually toss aside!”

Expecting Selina to retaliate, Cora was surprised when she responded unfazed, “Whether I succeed as Trevon’s wife is my business, and I don’t need some bitter old lady like you to worry about it. Maybe you should spend more time worrying about yourself, like how two years ago, everyone found out about that old man of yours fooling around in a hotel!”

“You!!” The sting of Selina’s words cut deep into Cora: her husband’s infidelity was a sore subject. It was common for wealthy elite men to play around, and men like Quinton who was a rarity, a rich and powerful man utterly devoted to his wife were virtually extinct. It took a fortune to squash that scandal, and Cora’s face had been dragged through the mud along with it.

“Selina, enough! You can’t keep provoking your aunt like this. Sara chided.

“What right do you have to lecture me, Sara? What makes you think you’re up to it? You’re not even in my league!” After Selina dropped her mic on them, she didn’t give a second glance at the sour faces of Sara and Cora and walked away.

It felt so good! Did they think Selina was the same pushover she used to be?

Before Selina could even bother herself with their problems, she’d take a good, long look in the mirror and ask if they were worth her time.

At the airport, Selina hopped into her Lamborghini just as Sara rushed up, banging on the window. “Selina! Get out of the car! You need to apologize to your aunt!”

Selina rolled her eyes at Sara as if she were looking at an idiot, “Are you freaking kidding me? If you love apologies so much, go ahead and give her one yourself. Having already cut ties with the Harvey family, Sara still acted like a mother figure and expected Selina to apologize. The Harvey family were beyond hope, all of them.

Putting on her sunglasses in a don’t–care manner and slamming her foot on the gas, Selina left Sara eating her dust.

“Ah!” Sara stumbled and fell, eating the Lamborghini’s exhaust instead of getting a backward glance from Selina. She bit her lip hard, thinking back to when Selina first returned to the Harvey family, so desperate for affection and eager to please. And now, What had gotten into Selina to make her lash out at her flesh and blood? This new Selina was much harder to bear than the meek one from before, at least the old Selina wouldn’t hurt her family like this.

Selita arrived at Brilliance, her phone buzzed with a call from Nora, inviting her to ditch that heartless Trevon and join Nora and Susie’s dinner tonight to celebrate Selina’s championship victory.

“OK” Selina replied, slipping her phone into her pocket before heading to the office. At Brilliance, all geniuses in their own right within the dazzling world of jewelry design, looked up as she entered, their eyes shining with admiration. They rose to congratulate her, completely won over not only by Selina’s victory over the renowned Derrick but also by her flawless full scores a first in history. Her design Shackled Hearts had captured their awe from the moment it was unveiled, its unique details and boundless imagination marking the hallmarks of Selina’s visionary talent. They were prodigies, their pride

bowing only to a greater genius among them.

Derrick approached with a smile. “You’re the star designer around here now?

There was no hint of jealousy in his voice, his defeat was absolute, his respect, genuine. Derrick even had a suspicion… Selina’s designs bore a striking resemblance to those of the legendary designer Angel, renowned for boundary–pushing creations like Foxfire Elegance. Could it be… Selina was Angel?

This notion wasn’t just in Derrick’s mind, even Madge had confided in Derrick about it. Primarily because Selina was brought in by Trevon, the timing of her emergence and her works gradually revealed such a possibility!

“Alright. Lead Designer Derrick. I’m not interested in competing for positions. I’m here to sort out the copyright for Shackled Hearts, and then I’m planning a long leave

“I get that your sights are set elsewhere. Your paperwork’s ready, just go and sign it.”

Derrick replied as he walked away. On the sidelines, Christina watched everyone fawning over the Harvey family with a simmering rage. She had no way to get on Selina’s good side and felt belittled at every turn.

She checked her messages on WhatsApp and found one from Madelyn. The flicker in Christina’s eyes became a vehement blaze as she sent back a definite affirmation.

By the time Selina had finished up her business, it was already five in the afternoon. She called Trevon to let him know she’d be dining with Nora and Susie tonight.

“Enjoying the dinner. Trevon’s voice, tinged with a hint of sarcasm, made Selina chuckle.

“Why not join us, honey? Though, you might not keep up with our girly chats. And it seems like Samuel isn’t around.”

Trevon sighed lightly, a warm breath escaping him. “Just try to get along with them. I’ll be waiting for you at home.”

Selina, replaceing great amusement, teased him, ‘So even someone as powerful as Trevon can be wary of family drama.” “Honey, I’m human, not a deity. The usual fears apply to me too, you know… And Susie is my stepmom.”

Only with Selina did Trevon share such personal reflections. Despite recognizing Susie’s role in his life, he was truly happy for Samuel and Susie’s happiness together, wishing them well from the bottom of his heart. As a stepson, while he maintained a respectful formality with Susie, a sense of distance lingered.
