Mystey Chapter 119
Chapter 119
The phone call had barely ended when Lydia shot a text to Selim [Hey, there’s a gig at Starlight Club tonight, you in?]
“For sure. Been cooped up in the house for days to avoid the drama, I feel moldy. Could use a blast,”
“Charge!”
Night fell over the city, and Starlight Club was buzzing with life, The Rose was on stage, delivering an explosive performance that nearly blew the roof off the joint. The energy was so fierce you could almost see the crowd’s calls for an encore lighting up the night.
But tonight, the name on everyone’s lips was Selina. She was on fire these days. Not just the jewelry design contest champion, but a world–renowned designer known as Angel. Gorgeous, with a killer body, the lead guitarist of The Rose, and martial arts pro. With so many labels, it was no surprise she was the center of attention.
In the shadows, two figures quietly watched everything unfold.
“Manuel, you serious about this?” Caleb shot a glance at the figure onstage, then turned to his buddy, swallowing nervously. Despite knowing how much Selina, as Angel, hurt Manuel, Caleb still thought this wasn’t the smartest move.
Im done. Caleb. Just wait here for me.” Manuel’s eyes burned with fierce determination, and as The Rose’s set ended, he got up to make his move.
“Man. Manuel… Everyone knows how this is gonna end, why torture yourself! I should never have told Manuel about The Rose’s gig at the Starlight Club tonight.” Caleb could already picture his friend’s tragic outcome. As his buddy, he couldn’t much but silently pray for him from the sidelines.

After their performance, The Rose retreated to the backstage lounge.
Lydia let out a howl, “Awooo! Tonight was all about Selina, did they even listen to our tunes?”
“No helping it, you know, our Selina’s the star of the show right now! My God, Selina! Please, please autograph something for me! I’m your fan when you’re incognito as Angel!” Elaine stormed in, with a fan’s fervor.
Lydia rolled her eyes at Elaine. “Since when did you become such a die–hard Angel’s fan? I’ve been your agent for ages, and you’ve never fangirled this hard before.”
Elaine wept, “Oh, like a rich girl like you would understand the struggles of an agent drowning in mortgage! Everything Angel creates with big–name jewelers starts at hundreds of thousands of dollars, How can a broke soul like me afford that?”
After a brief cry, Elaine laughed and struck a pose, “I was shocked when I first found out Selina was Angel, but then I realized. that Selina had gifted our band a bracelet. Doesn’t that technically mean I’ve got a piece of Angel’s collection? And a super- limited edition at that!”
Signed name in hand, Selina handed it over to Elaine, “Exactly, so cherish it. I won’t mass–produce that bracelet–it’s a bespoke gift for The Rose.”
“I adore you, Selina. You’re my star. Mwah! I’ll treasure this autograph forever!”
“And… I’d also like one… Luke usually quiet, couldn’t help but step up with an autograph book, his eyes revealing a deep admiration for Selina.
Lydia choked on her drink, “Luke, even you, seriously?”
Thomas explained, “Don’t let his quietness fool you. He majored in jewelry design back in college. Just took a break and joined me in the band.”

*I see. Wait, this means Seling’s taken the spotlight as the band’s darling. Lydia clanged an imaginary alarm bell in her head -Selina was her treasure, and now everybody seemed to be eyeing her.
“Alright, autographs done, I need to hit the restroom.
Selina graciously signed her name for Luke, who typically wore an expression colder than ice, but now, his face broke into a rate smile. Gathering courage, he said, “Tll cherish it for life”
Selina patted Luke on the shoulder, “Keep it up,” she said before leaving.
Luke stood alone, clutching the signed autograph book, wearing a silly smile.
Lydia facepalmed–so much for Luke’s cool–guy persona. Look at him, his character was completely shattered.
Selina left the backstage lounge heading for the restroom when suddenly, a figure appeared, blocking her path.
“Selina.” Manuel’s eyes burned intensely as if they could scorch someone’s skin, fixated on Selina.
Selina had a hunch about what Manuel was up to and crossed her arms with a cold laugh, “Manuel, realizing your idol Angel is me. Selina, must feel like your whole life is a lie, huh?”
“Selina. Why? Why are you Angel, and you didn’t say when you came back to the Harvey residence?”
That was precisely what Manuel wanted to ask. He couldn’t wrap his head around it. Selina clearly had the status and ability. If she disclosed her identity upon returning to the Harvey family, Manuel wouldn’t have…..
Heh heh heh… Selina couldn’t help but laugh upon hearing Manuel’s words. Her laughter was heavy with mockery, disdain, and self–ridicule.
The Harvey family always managed to lower the bar on what Selina thought was shameless behavior. And as time passed, Selina was increasingly convinced that in her past life, she’d been a complete fool. Despite being vividly aware and facing this hypocritical Harvey family, which claimed that “family is everything yet treated Selina with cold violence, gaslighting. and indifference, she naively thought her sincerity could move them. She never considered turning back. Look at Manuel, so naive and innocent, capable of uttering such a shameless statement.
“What… What are you laughing at?” The sorrow in Selina’s laughter was so powerful it felt like it was suffocating Manuel, gripping his heart until he almost couldn’t breathe. Manuel wanted to stop Selina’s laughter, but he couldn’t.
“I’m laughing at my own stupidity, how I should’ve seen through you Harveys for what you truly are, but I still held onto that sliver of hope, allowing you to walk all over me. Tell me, Manuel, do I have Harvey blood running through my veins? Am I the Harvey daughter they desperately searched for over twenty–one years? Didn’t the hospital DNA test confirm that I am Selina, one of the treasured Harvey twins?”
“That… That’s the truth! When the database matched Selina’s DNA, the Harvey family had confirmed it many times over, terrified of identifying the wrong heir. The results were conclusive; Selina was undeniably a Harvey–no falsehoods there!
