Chapter 236

Chapter 236

The alliance of the three major families had bolstered their strength in ways that had left other powerful families feeling wary. Even if Edwin had a slight interest in Ashley, his respect for Trevon would prevent him from getting close to her unless he was completely unaware of the deep–seated grudges between Selina and the Harvey family, which was unlikely.

Yet, Edwm still brazenly approached her even in front of live cameras. It made people wonder what he was plotting, especially when they saw his clear eyes that seemed to allude to a brewing storm. Being a candidate for the heir of a top–tier family and having entered Trevon’s circle, no one would believe that Edvin Licked capability.

Even the seemingly carefree and indulgent Charley was an expert investor. Those who underestimated him by his appearance were only courting destruction

Sara shared this concebut Quiston waved a hand dismissively, saying, “Ashley isn’t a fool. She can surely tell that Edwin has ulterior motives. But with so many people watching, she can’t just ignore him. She might be planning to turn the tables and replace out what Edwin is up to”

“Let’s hope so.” Manuel said, though he could not shake the feeling that Ashley might not have considered things that deeply. They thought it was Impossible to say Ashley had no concerns as she wasn’t foolish Still, the family overestimated her ability to remain rational when love clouded her judgment.

Meanwhile, Joseph had no idea what foolish thing his naive sister had done this time. During his studies abroad, he participated in a summer camp where he learned to replace edible mushrooms and wild vegetables in the mountains.

As he walked, he suddenly spotted a fatlar figure ahead: Surprised, he thought, SelinaShe found this place too! Initially, Joseph didn’t want to approach Selina as every time he did, trouble followed. He was about to avert his gaze when he caught sight of something dangerous. Without thinking, he shouted, “Selina, watch out!”

The snake stayed motionless on the tree but was startled by the shouting. It opened its eyes and struck at Selins, who was the nearest target. The sudden event shocked everyone, especially Joseph, whose heart nearly stopped. Internally, he screamed, “Don’t get hurt! Selina!‘

Selina instinctively turned around, and with a flick of the branch she held, she gently swatted the snake away, sending it off in another direction. The startled snake, sensing danger, quickly slithered away

As he witnessed the scene, Joseph was shocked and rendered speechless by Selina’s swift actions, thinking. ‘Did she resolve something so perilous that easily?” He reckoned his concern from early on was unnecessary. Given Selina’s swift and efficient response, it became clear she had noticed the snake long before.

Moreover, the inauke had no real intent to attack Selina, and most importantly, it was non–venomous. If Joseph hadn’t shouted, the snake likely wouldn’t have reacted at all. It was a classic case of good intentions gone awry. Upon realizing this, Joseph’s expression darkened

There was an uproar in the comment section after the scene: [Wow, that was a close call]

Queen Selina’s reflexes are incredible! Most people would’ve panicked and run, but she seemed to know exactly where the shake was and just drove it away!

[I thought Queen Selina would use an army knife to slice the snake in half but that would’ve been a bit gruesome]

[Mr. Harvey was well–meaning but ended up causing trouble. He just wanted to remind Queen Selina of the snake, but the snake was only resting in the tree. It was startled by Mr. Harvey’s shouting and attacked Queen Selina as a result.]

[Do you think Joseph did it on purpose? He and Queen Selina don’t exactly get along]

[Don’t be ridiculous! Even if they don’t get along, Mr. Harvey wouldn’t risk her life. He looked genuinely worried for her. Didn’t you catch that!]

Daniel felt a shiver run down his spine as he watched the scene unfold through the live broadcast. Despite all the extensive medical and safety precautions they had in place, the unexpected could always happen. The cameraman and two security guards accompanying Selina were doing everything in their power to prevent accidents, but no one could guarantee absolute safety.

They had learned that lesson the hard way, like when Selina got injured twice.

If Selina were truly bitten by a snake, then the backlash would have been unimaginable. The sheer number of fans drawn in by Selina’s true identity could unleash a wave of rage that the production team could not handle. Moreover, Trevon wasn’t going to let it slide either.

Selina shot a glance at Joseph, then turned away and continued toward their destination. That look was filled with contempt, confusion, and disdain. These were all negative emotions that made Joseph feel wronged. He thought it wasn’t his fault as he was only worried about Selina and arted on impulse.

How could she look at me like that? We’re blood siblings, mused Joseph. No matter how much Joseph resented Selina, he would never intentionally provoke a snake into attacking her. He was mad but not to the point of wanting her dead.

Driven by a varge of anger, Joseph mailed toward Selina. The rest of the Harvey family was stunned when watching the scene. “What’s Josephi doing? Wand be supposed to avoid Selina?” Manuel asked, utterly bottled.

Sara thought for a moment and said. “Maybe he’s worried Selina misunderstood him. He might be trying to explain himself.” She could not help but reflect on her sinuation. Sara, too, feared Selina might misinterpret her actions. Given their history, it was easy to see why Selina might think Joseph had deliberately startled the snake to harm her.

Quinton sneered, “What’s there to explain? The truth will prevail. We all believe in Joseph. Since when did he care so much about what Selina

think?

Meanwhile, Joseph had caught up with Selina. “What do you want?” Selina asked icily, glaring at him. Now that they were allowed to move freely, he was still stuck to her like glue, making her wonder if he had a death wish.

Upon seeing Selina’s blatant disrespect, Joseph felt his anger flare up again, fueled by the unjust accusation earlier. “I’m here to gather wild herbs. No one said this path was yours alone to walk.”

“First, you intentionally startled the snake to attack me. Now, since that didn’t work, you’ve come to harass me in person. Mr. Harvey, your behavior is downright disgusting. Selina sneered.

“I d–did no such thing: Selina, don’t misunderstand me! 1 c–called out earlier because I was w–worried about you. H–How could I have known-” stammered Joseph

“How could you have known the snake would attack me after hearing your voice! Sure, you can say whatever you want, but given our relationship, it’s hard not to suspect that you did it on purpose,” Selina interrupted, cutting him off.

Joseph’s face drained of color in an instant. He clenched his fists and said with trembling lips, You… How could you misunderstand me like that? We’re… I’m your……
