Chapter 72

“My phone alerted me that the car was in use. I was worried the hotel manager might steal it,” Chloe said.
The car Linda was driving was under Chloe’s name.
“The hotel is under Lynch Group. They wouldn’t do that,” Linda replied.
“Well, then, have a safe drive. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up.”
“Sure:
Linda drove to the hospital at a leisurely pace. As soon as she got out of the car, Jimmy called again.
“Could you bring me some water when you come up?”
“Sure.” Linda walked to a nearby vending machine. She bought a bottle of water and headed inside. Just then, she unexpectedly ran into an old acquaintance.
“Long time no see, Linda.” Charlotte Evans smiled faintly.
“Charlotte, when did you come back?” Linda was surprised to see Charlotte here.
“My in–laws are Osmonians. My mother–in–law is ill, so my husband and I came back to see her.”
Just then, Charlotte saw the water bottle in Linda’s hand. “Are you sick?”
“No, but my friend is. I’m here to visit him,” Linda replied.
“Then, go ahead and take care of your friend. We’ll catch up when I’m done here.”
Linda nodded, and they parted ways in the hospital corridor.
Charlotte was Linda’s psychologist. After waking up from her hospital bed, Linda had developed psychological issues. At one point, she was even suicidal.
It was Charlotte’s treatment that gradually helped Linda recover and regain everything. In a way, she was
her benefactor.
Linda walked into the infusion room, expecting to only see Jimmy. But William was there, too. The two
were in a heated argument.
“Mr. Wilson, I’m not looking down on you. I just genuinely believe you don’t deserve her, Jimmy said.
“And you deserve her?” William retorted.
Jimmy was unfazed as he shrugged. “Compared to how much Linda hates you now, I definitely have a
better chance.”
William shot back. “Linda and I have history. What do you have?”
Hearing this, Jimmy was speechless. He couldn’t believe William’s audacity.
History?
Jimmy mocked, “From what I know, your four–year marriage was entirely Linda’s one–sided wish. If that’s what you call history, I think you need to relearn comprehension.”
“Jimmy Cole, you’d better not provoke me like this,” William said, trying to suppress his anger,
Jimmy, looking innocent, said, “Mr. Wilson, you shouldn’t make baseless statements.”
Just then, Jimmy saw Linda at the door and called out, “Linda, you’re finally here!”
He immediately played the victim. “Your ex–husband is quite rash.”
Linda‘ saw the needle in the back of his hand, confirming he wasn’t lying.
“What’s going on?‘ She opened the water bottle and handed it to Jimmy.
“Linda, where’s mine?” William asked.
“Excuse me. Mr. Wilson needs a cup of warm water,” Linda called out to the nurse’s station.
A nurse immediately responded.
“Mr. Wilson, everyone is scrambling to attend to you,” Linda said, sitting opposite Jimmy.
Linda continued, “If you’re having trouble adjusting, you should just go back abroad.”
Jimmy had landed in Osmo yesterday and was already in the hospital today. It seemed he really didn’t get
used to the city.
“I can’t do that. I want to be with you.”
Linda replied, “Your health is more important.
“No. I just want to be with you.”
Linda’s lips twitched, speechless.
A nurse brought in a cup of warm water. “Mr. Wilson, here’s your warm water.”
The nurse smiled sweetly, but William ignored her. His eyes were fixed on the bottle of water that Linda had opened for Jimmy. He didn’t want water, he wanted Linda’s care.
“Linda..” William called out.
