Chapter 103

Sylvie had always wondered why most people considered suicide when they were passing through difficult phases in life. Now, she understood better.

As she sat alone in her lodge, crying over what had happened, she contemplated it. And if it wasn't for the fact that her babies' lives were also on the line, perhaps, she'd have given it a deeper thought. In that moment, she wished she had company. She hadn't reached out to Cindy or any one of her friends yet, because she feared they'd judge her. Who would comfort her after knowing what she did? She had never been in good terms with her sisters, so they weren't even an option. Sylvie was utterly alone-like she's been for the most part of ner life.

On second thoughts, what if Kage decided to take the recording to the police? The situation would get worse and losing him wouldn't be the only thing she'd be worried about. She'd be losing her freedom as well. She touched her stomach at the thought of being away from her kids. She could never survive it. She couldn't let that happen. the DNA test reached out to her, informing her that the result was ready and and would be forwarded to She dian For two days, Sylvie tried reaching Kage but couldn't. His lines weren't reachable and none e of f her texts and I voicemails were answered.

In the evening, the doctor from the hospital where she'd perfo care about Evelyn and Lincoln, or the result. She could only hope that she didn't lose her life in thier email. But when the email did come, Sylvie didn't bother to open it.

unfortunate time

She decided to go to the house and learned from the securities that he hadn't been home for two days. Sylvie thought it was obvious he had moved to a new apartment where he wouldn't be disturbed by her. She called Atty at the office and learnt he hadn't reported to work for two days. It bothered her even more that he was isolating himself. What if he did something silly? Will he be fine? She sat in her car, resting her head on the steering, not knowing where to go. She wished she could see him again, but she's didn't know where else to look. Her father's call came into her phone, pulling her out of her her thoughts. She hesitated for a moment before taking the call.

"Sylvie, what's going on?" Her father's voice was sharp. "I just received information that I've been kicked out of the group. I've been trying and failing to reach Kage. Are you with him? I need you to put me through." Sylvie closed her eyes, her hand running over her forehead. Oh, God; her head ached. But sleep sounded too unworthy for her. "I can't reach him," she managed to mutter.

"Why!? I need to speak to him, Sylvie! I need to know what's happening. You have to do something!"

She put a hand around the steering, gripping it tight, You have to do something?

Sylvie had lost count of the number of times her father had said that to her. He was always needing her to do things for him, even at her own discomfort. Has he ever cared for her?

When she spoke again, her tone was harder. "I'm sorry, I can't reach him." She hung up, angrily setting the phone down.

She slammed her both hands on the steering wheel, grunting. How did her life turn out to be so messed up?

In seconds, her head was down in tears.

family's house. She knew the chances of replaceing him there were slim, but she was hoping she might get some information that could lead to his whereabouts. As expected, Phoebe lashed at her, telling her Kage was far away and didn't want to set eyes on her ever again.

Sylvie was a little surprised that Kage had told them they were having a misunderstanding already. She was sure he didn't tell them the reason for the misunderstanding, because Phoebe would've mentioned it.

But it was unlike Kage to tell his mother they had issues.

However, she

she didn't have the luxury of asking too many questions.

"Please, I just want to know where he is. If you have any idea, just let me know," she pleaded even after Phoebe already yelled

at her to leave.

She hadn't even been let into the house but was left at the gate where Phoebe argued with her..

"The only reason

glad

I haven't kicked you yet is brigade I wouldn't want to be charged for murder." She glared at the big bump. "Get your shameless self out of here, woman! I always knew a day would come when my son will get back to his senses. I'm it came sooner. But know this, I'll make your life as miserable as you have made his." Despite Sylvie's pleas, Phoebe had her thrown out by securities and warned them never to let her in again.

Sylvie drove off to one of her favorite places with Kage-the bridge. After that one time he'd met her at the bridge when she was alone, it'd turned out to be one of the favorite places they went to when they wanted to have a cool evening. Standing and staring into the waters that appeared dark due to the darkness of the night, she remembered how sweet he had been.

She touched the necklace around her neck. It should feel useless by now, considering the words he'd said to her few days ago, but a part of her didn't want to let it go. It was the only thing she had left of him. And the babies.

Her hand rested on her bump, and a sad smile filled her lips. Funny how they've anticipated the arrival of the kids together, but as it turned out, she might be the only one receiving them. The thought of raising the kids without Kage terrified her. The thought of living without him in general terrified her even

more.

Her mind drifted to the night he'd 'forced' himself on her.

Well, Kage had indeed, been drunk that night and wanted to force himself on her, but maybe there had been a part of Sylvie that wanted it to happen. Perhaps, if she had fought a little harder, she'd have been able to get him off her. But perhaps, there was a little part of her that had wanted him to make love to her for the first time, in a state only she could remember. This was the reason she never really tried to blame him for what happened. He'd been a real d****** back then, but he also didn't know she's had a tiny crush when they got married.

By morning, Sylvie was awoken with news of her father's company being shut down again. She'd heard it from the secretary at the company who made it clear that the reason behind the company being closed down this time was more serious than what had happened before. Just when Sylvie thought things were bad enough for her.

Then, it got worse by the secretary informing her that her father had passed out and was admitted to the hospital.

Sylvie's world I came crumbling in a couple of hours.

She got ready and rushed off to the hospital as quickly as she could-hurriedly dressed in jeans and a black top.

Her head felt heavy, a part of

t of her actually feared she might pass out herself along the way. But fortunately, she reached the hospital successfully.

She located her father's room and found her sisters in with him. He was awake, but with the drips connected around him, Sylvie figured whatever had happened had happened must have been really serious. Plus his face looked very pale. "Dad..." She rushed to his side, ignoring the disdainful glares her sisters threw her way. "Dad, are you okay?" "He wouldn't be here if he was." Beace Shapped. Sylvie ignored her, observing the around her father. He wasn't looking good. Something in her guts told her Phoebe and her cohorts might be responsible for the company being shut down as they'd seen that she no longer had Kage's protection. But was this necessary? Why try to bring her and her family down at all when she's never tried to do the same? "What is going on with you and the Hawkins?" Her father asked in a strained but hard voice. Sylvie furrowed her brows. "Dad, I don't-"

"We heard you were kicked out by Kage," Iris angrily chirped in, her eyes glaring daggers. Sylvie was astonished. Who the hell told them?
