My expression remained numb as I thrust the divorce agreement towards him. “Sign it. We’re getting divorced.”

Henry appeared bewildered, a sense of injustice evident in his eyes. “Is this all because I didn’t answer your calls? What’s the big deal?”

“Grandma passed away, you killed her.”

“What?” His pupils quivered, disbelief written all over his face.

I tossed the phone before him. “Your adulteress orchestrated it all. She intentionally exposed your affair to Grandma, driving her to a fatal heart attack.”

“I don’t know anything about this, Wendy, I swear. There’s nothing between me and her. Please, believe

me.”

“Grandma hung on for three days, just to confront you about it. I called you nonstop, even begged your

lover…”

“Wendy, I had no idea about any of this, about Grandma. It’s not my fault. I’m a victim too. If I had known…”

I interrupted him, “Then what did you do during those three days? Just to travel with her?” Henry wanted to explain again. “I’m not interested in your explanations,” I interjected sharply. “Divorce.”

Henry’s temper flared, and his words were full of disdain. “Wendy Johnson, who do You’re getting older now. Who else would want you except me?”

I looked at him without saying anything.

you think you are?

Henry hurled the divorce papers to the floor before storming out and slamming the door shut. “Wendy, I’m a victim in Grandma’s situation too. I don’t agree!”

Was I to blame for his unfaithfulness? Was it my fault he ignored my calls when Grandma was in crisis?

Picking up the discarded divorce papers, I retorted, “You’re not keen on divorce, huh? Well, I’ve got ways to make it happen.”
