No Strings Attached novel (Clara and Ian) -
Chapter 275
Sasha had just been sitting on the garden steps for a while, and her legs had gone completely numb. So when she was suddenly yanked up, her legs gave way, and she tumbled right into Chase's arms.
By sheer bad luck, Sasha's lips collided with Chase's enticing collarbone. It hurt so much that tears instantly sprang to her eyes. "Why are you pulling me around? Don't you know I'm skipping dinner to lose weight?" Sasha glared at him, her eyes round and slightly reddened.
Her lip was cut, and a tiny bead of blood surfaced on her tender lip.
Chase didn't get mad at her outburst. Instead, he pulled out a tissue from his pocket and gently dabbed it on her lip, his tone much more serious than before. "So you're fasting, big deal. Why the temper? What have I done lately to tick you off so much that you'd kick me out of your place like that?"
Sasha snatched the tissue from him and shot him a lethal glare. "I just can't stand the sight of you, okay?" She spat out before turning on her heel and storming off.
Chase was left standing in the chaos of the wind. Sasha was so stubborn; who in the world would dare to marry her?
Just then, his phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, Chase furrowed his brow and hesitated before answering. Before he could speak, an urgent voice came through, "Chase, Grandpa Wilson took a fall. We're on the way to the ER. You need to come."
Chase immediately asked, "What's the situation?"
"He's conscious, but his blood pressure is up, and it looks like his arm is bruised. Plus, he's got a heart condition."
"Okay, I got it. I'm on my way."
After hanging up, he hurried after Sasha. "Sasha, aren't you guys shooting an ER scene tonight? Perfect timing-we've got a real patient for you."
Sasha's previously sullen face brightened at that, and she quickly dialed the director to give them a heads-up. Minutes later, the patient was brought to the ER doors.
As the star of the promo, Sasha followed closely behind, but when she saw who the patient was, she froze, her eyes reddening in an instant.
"Sasha, come help," Chase called out to her.
Sasha pulled up her mask to hide the storm of emotions in her eyes and ran over. The patient's arm was bleeding, and Sasha couldn't hold back anymore. A tear the size of a bean rolled down her cheek.
A few minutes later, the patient was wheeled into the emergency room. Chase conducted all the necessary checks while Sasha assisted, peppering him with questions. "Dr. Chase, how's the patient doing? Is it serious? Is there a risk to his life?" Sasha must have asked a dozen times.
After everything settled down, Chase removed his mask and looked at her. "You're never this concerned about patients. Do you know this man?"
Sasha shook my head quickly, "No, I don't know him. He just looks so old. I got worried."
Chase seemed skeptical, "Really? That's it?"
"Of course. I don't have any relatives here; who would I know?"
"Fair enough," Chase nodded. "The patient just has some superficial wounds and high blood pressure. He'll be fine with some rest."
Hearing this, Sasha let out a sigh of relief. "That's good, that's really good."
As they stepped out of the ER, Chase's grandfather Wilfred rushed over. "Chase, how's Wilson?"
"Don't worry, he's fine. Just a bit shaken up. He'll recover after a good night's sleep."
Wilfred sighed in relief, but when his gaze landed on Sasha, his eyes widened. "Miss, have we met before?"
