Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Third Person POV

It had been three days since Josie had been teaching Ashton and like she had thought, the alpha hadn’t made it easy for her.

He was always staring at Josie with those deep gray eyes of him. She felt his eyes wherever she stepped into the hospital or in the pharmaceuticals.

His brooding presence was everywhere, nipping at her back and all Josie felt was the urge to melt under his gaze.

It didn’t help that her body was always alert in such a sensational way. Something she hadn’t felt in

a while.

She had already wrapped up for today though and the first place Josie ran into was the toilet, which was the adjoining door in Ashton’s office in the hospital.

Ashton’s brows drew together at the speed with which Josie had rushed into the restroom.

Was it…the Russian she just finished teaching him that was making her act weird?

Ashton sure didn’t understand and hell, he felt the strong urge to replace out.

He stood up and crept across the room to the door. He heard mewling sounds like Josie was crying.

He didn’t understand it all and all he felt that moment was to push the door down and rescue her.

And that was what he was about to do when the door came tumbling back…as Josie stepped out.

Startled, Josie’s red face stared at Ashton disbelieving. She gasped when it occurred to her what

Ashton was about to do.

Did he hear the sounds she let out? She whispered to herself inwardly and thoughts about it swayed

her heart.

Fuck, staying under the watchful eyes of her alpha Stepbrother had been torture, so she rushed inside the toilet to squirt the knotted tension out, only for the bane of her existence to…eavesdrop?

“What were you doing?” She barked, hating the wash of embarrassment she felt.

Ashton’s mouth was wide open, yeah. He had lost words to defend himself and his eyes were continuously blinking.

“I…I mean…you…” He stuttered much to Josie’s displeasure, creasing his brows.

Damn, it’s certain what happened in there was obvious to Ashton.

Chapter 23

At the shake of her head, Josie snapped. “You’re a pervert!”

Well, words like that made people angry and that was the reaction she had expected from Ashton but instead, the alpha kicked his lips up in a smile.

Josie would hate to admit he looked silly and handsome at the same time, offering her those sheepish smiles.

“That’s pretty obvious.” He stated blatantly, shrugging.

As Josie tried to shoulder–pass him, he said the words that made her gasp and halt walking.

“And I wouldn’t mind if I get to be more perverted with you, Ms Rose.” He mentioned.

For a moment there, Josie lost the ability to speak.

Wasn’t he the person that had called her a whore years before? She thought in surprise.

There, her traitorous wolf and body were slowly slipping into a puddle of need but at the remembrance of that word ‘whore‘ Josie shook her head and spat.

“Well, I’m a whore but I’d pretty much stick with clients that know to better appreciate their partner.”

At that, she turned and walked to the seat she was on to grab her bag and textbooks.

Ashton felt every nibble of pain at the words she had said. He aimed to rush after her but Josie was smart enough to slam the door on his face.

Pausing just an inch close to the door, Ashton sighed disappointedly.

Something told him he had lost his wooing skills.

‘Yes, I must admit you have‘ his wolf rendered, sneering at Ashton.

Initially, the alpha thought it was his wolf side that wanted Josie back but , it was way beyond

that.

Being around Josie for three days, feeling the heat of her body, taking in her curves and bumps, seeing the sheen of blush on her face, he knew he also wanted the lady back.

It was hard to admit he wanted Josie back beyond his curse and alpha roles. The woman was a marvel he couldn’t get off his mind.

Now that it’s pretty obvious he had lost his wooing skills, Ashton

thought it was time he learned those skills again.

With his scrubs on, he exited/his office calling his zeta, Dane.

Chapter 23

“Man, I sure need your help.” He muttered quickly into the phone, taking down the hallway to his changing room.

A rumble of laughter echoed through the walls of the casino Dane and Ashton was in, however the noises coming from others around who were screaming muffled those laughter.

It was Dane laughing at Ashton for admitting he had lost his skills of chasing women.

“Are you shitting me now, alpha?” He asked Ashton who sat with his head on his palms.

To say Ashton was feeling inferior was putting it lightly. All thoughts had crossed his mind on who that man Josie was dating was to have the balls to date her. The one that had bought Josie’s heart. He wondered how that man was able to win his mate, but he’d be dammed to let the man win.

“Fuck, Dane I’m serious. I really want you to teach me ways to gain these skills back.” He said, sounded completely frustrated.

“Alpha, you of all people should know the skills come naturally. I mean every man should possess it. It’s

not like it’s something you can learn in schools…” Ashton drowned out Dane’s voice.

If he read meaning into it, his zeta was pointedly saying Ashton wasn’t man enough or wasn’t a man at all.

Screw him for saying that, Ashton muttered, knocking back his glass of cognac.

Relaxing back over the seat, he looked ahead, watching the men playing slot games in the machine a few inches away from them.

By his right–hand side, his eyes zoned in on those playing poker.

The victorious howls nudged Ashton to stare back at those sitting by the slot machines and found the happy grins on their faces.

It was obvious they had won. Ashton wondered if he could mirror those grins on others‘ faces.

‘Definitely, you can, but only if you win our mate back‘ his wolf taunted.

Swearing, Ashton

tried to block his wolf but the annoying thing refused, making it difficult for him. Since he had gotten his lycanwolf when he was eighteen, Ashton hadn’t

known its name.

It wasn’t like others who their wolves introduced themselves on their first shift. Ashton’s wolf appeared when he was fighting off a rival during training when he was in high school.

He felt his zeta rise from his seat and walk around before beckoning Ashton over.

“Since you lost your wooing skills, why don’t we busy ourselves with Baccarat?” Dane suggested, leaning over the table filled with cards.

With a low grumble, the alpha agreed and they started busying themselves. Dane repeatedly defeated Ashton making him lose five hundred dollars straight.

Ashton growled and the men around the table shriveled. After another four failed attempts, Ashton

gave up.

He went back over to their seats and grabbed the glass of his cognac taking a slug again.

When he had released his hold on the glass, he felt a strong whoop of heat…

The jerking of his heart told him something and instinctively, he pulled his head up, roaming his eyes all over until it fell on her.

His skin pricked quickly and he shot to his feet.

One question left his lips.

“What is she doing here?”

From the look of things, she was in danger…
