Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 71
Chapter 71
Josie’s POV.
“I still can’t believe this.” 1 mutter lowly, staring at the words on my phone’s screen.
How could Ashton do such a thing like this?
The review he had written was all derogatory. Ashton said I don’t have good communication and teaching skills. That, I claim to be perfect in the languages 1 deal with.
But that’s not what got me seeing red. It’s the last two sentences where he says I’ve been throwing myself at him.
! I growl at the back of my throat, still looking at how incredible this review is
I’m throwing myself at him? Shit!
How dare he twist the table around?
He is the one on my tail and now he’s making the whole city believe that I chasing after him?
Thinking about that makes red–hot anger rise inside me immediately. To think that all those shits he’s been saying to me are all lies!
That night he had asked to absorb my pains, so he was literally lying?
me for ever thinking Ashton will be different from the man I knew before.
He’d always be a lying, pathetic ass. But going to this extent of tarnishing my career reputation is a low, even for
him
When my eyes drop down to the replies people are giving to this review while tagging our company, tears spring in my
eyes.
Tag her pictures….”
“I’ve heard about her before. How can a big company like this retain a low life?”
“Gosh, and she’s literally been paid to teach rubbish.
“I can only imagine the hundreds of clients those she taught must have lost by now!
Reading these comments, my breath comes out in short pants. No. No. No.
This is a pure stain on my image. Hell, how do I meet my boss, Mr. Thompson?
How do I explain to him that this isn’t true?
I’ve been there for Ashton, always willing to support him but this is how he paid me back?
Hard lessons learned, never work for a mate that once rejected you before the pack members. He did it before and now he’s doing it before the city’s popular blog.
My heart beat harshly over my chest. It’s mind–numbing.
I quickly shut my phone when I s

I can’t remember the last time I felt like I didn’t belong. Like I’ll always be below others.
My self–confidence has ridden low, I can’t even move my limbs.
The urge to lash out at him fills me and I swiftly dial his number but yeah, the overconfident alpha doctor doesn’t pick up!
I manage to hold in my anger as the secretary tells me the CEO is now free.
Panting. I rush into his office with my reports. I see Mr. Thompson standing by the window.
If he heard me coming in, he didn’t show it. Standing by the oak desk cluttered with files and paperwork, I greet.
“Good day…
“Spare me that, Ms. Rose” Mr. Thompson says, cutting me off, my heart leaps outta my chest.
Slowly, he whirls and faces me, his eyes shooting daggers at me.
.
“So these six weeks you’ve been with the CEO of Erstwhile company, you’ve been tarnishing my company’s image?”
1 lower my head as tears rush to my eyes. Hell, Mr. Thompson hadn’t scolded me in such a manner before, and hearing him at the top of his voice rattles my bones, adding salt to my wound
“I’m sorry sir.” I try to speak but he cuts me off again.
“Oh. Rose. You’re always sorry. That’s how you were after going violent on Mr. Winston. I thought giving you a second chance would make you change.”
“But no! You’re far from being better…”
“Sir..I didn’t hurt Mr. Winston on purpose. He tried to force himself on me.” I ramble incoherently.
Mr. Thompson tsks. “I’m afraid I do not believe a word you say, Rose.”
“What about Mr. Creed then? He forced himself on you too?”
I keep quiet, unsure of what to say. If he is doubting me now, nothing I’ll say will make him change his mind.
“All fingers are pointing at you. Look at how Mr. Creed wrote in detail of how poorly you’ve been with him.”
1 dart my hands on my face, wiping the tears that escape my eyes.
“I’m sorry sir.“I cry out, my head bent.
“I’ve had enough of your antics, Rose.”
I raise my eyes at him, wondering what he actually means. My breath paused coming out as I waited for Mr. Thompson to say his words in full.
“Head over to the HR and take your termination letter. You’re fired!”
In the surge of tears and rage, I rush to my feet, hands clamped together as I plead.
“Sir. Please let me prove myself, don’t force me out yet. I’m sure there’s a glitch somewhere.”
“Please leave, My Rose. There’s nothing like a glitch in a written review”
When I refused to leave he threatened to call the security. I’m already feeling.
- y. Of c
course, I don’t want to add more embarrassment to the one
I rise on my feet again and hurry/outside. As if the HR manager had been waiting for a call, she stands
before me, presenting the termination letter with a grin on her face.
In shame, I leave the company, my face red.
I board a cab to Ashton’s hospital, knowing that’s where he’ll be in,
I make my way through the hospital’s hallway until I reach Ashton’s office.
There are no patients waiting for him so I push the door of his office open and storm inside.
Ashton isn’t on his table. I turned to leave but I heard the flushing of the toilet. Pausing with my back facing the ensuite bathroom, my body comes alive with rage when he comes out of the restroom.
“Ms. Rose?” He calls out.
In fact, hearing his calm voice spikes my anger more.
“Ashton hope could you?” 1 shoot at him as I turn to face him.
His brows crease quickly as his eyes flash.
“What are you talking about?” He asks, stepping close.
I make sure to draw back, putting distance between us. I need to think straight now.
“Oh, don’t pretend like you don’t know!” I howl much to his surprise and mine.
I haven’t spoken in such a loud voice for a long time.
“Care to explain?” He cocks a brow, crossing his arms.
“Explain to you how you ruined my career. How you tarnished my reputation?”
He acts like he still doesn’t understand what I’m saying. Screw him!
“Ashton, you’ve damaged me. I wonder how you expect to provide for my dau…” I trail off as the word daughter‘ nearly slips from my mouth.
In a rage, I flip my hand through my hair, uncaring how I’m tousling it
Ashton huffs. “To be honest, I don’t understand
what you’re about.” He declares and I gasp in horror.
So, he still has the guts to pretend? him!
“You’re a such and pretender, Ashton. I should known that nothing about you will ever change. I spit, trailing back. “Thank you for tarnishing my image on the media, alpha Ashton Creed. But just know, my deal with you ends today.”
Ashton snarls as he bites out. “You can’t just end our agreement like that!”
I’m already holding the door handle, but hearing that, I whip around and bark.
“Oh, yes I can, Ashton Creed!”
He storms close to me and tackles me to the door. “We had an agreement and I expect you to keep to your end as I kept mine!”
Those words of him make me lose it entirely. I unleash my anger and slap him hard across the check.
“You kept to your end of our bargain by writing such a horrible review about me? Tarnishing my career?”
The veins in his haw ticks as he held onto the spot I had hit me. However, when my last sentence comes out, his eyes bulge.
“Your review?” He says aloud. “I gave you a five–star review, Ms. Rose.”
I didn’t know when I released a short laugh.
“Yeah, so much for a five–star review…” I spit sharply…
While Ashton’s pondering on that, I replace my way outta the office, uncaring about anything else now.
However, as I storm outside, my eyes catch the person I least expected to see.
Dr. Sandra.
Had she been eavesdropping on our conversation? I think to myself but her words confirm it.
“Karma sure knows how to deal with some people…” she says, glaring at me.
Instantly, tears fill my eyes and I replace myself running away from the hospital, my heart aching.
Ashton has failed me again…
