Chapter 107

“Okay.” Stella put down the spoon and helped Brian with his tie. She made a Windsor knot, which looked perfect and elegant.

“All done.” Stella admired her work with a smile.

Brian observed her quietly before sitting down for breakfast. He instructed, “From now on, be home by 8: 00 pm every night.”

Stella was taken aback. “Why?”

“Why?

He cocked a brow. “You’re a maid. Don’t you need to be at home to work?”

Stella was frustrated and couldn’t help but negotiate, “You’re right. But you know I often have to work overtime as a designer.”

“Bring your work home,” Brian retorted. It was just drawing, right? Why couldn’t she draw at home?

Stella was rendered speechless. She wanted to argue. But being 40 thousand dollars in debt made it hard to be assertive.

In the end, Stella huffed and crossed her arms.

After breakfast, Brian asked her, “Do you need a ride to the studio?”

Stella remembered she hadn’t driven her car back and paid, “Yes, please.”

She got into Brian’s car and sat next to him.

Mike was driving.

Brian was looking at documents on his tablet. He was always working.

Stella’s phone rang. It was a call from Chris, asking if she had managed to raise the three million dollars.

Stella whispered into the phone, “I’m working on it, Uncle Chris. I should have the money in a few days.”

Brian overheard her and glanced over. After she hung up, he asked, “Is your uncle asking you to raise money?”

Stella put away her phone. “Yes, my dad’s company’s creditors are pressing for payment. They need 300 thousand dollars. It’s not that I don’t want to repay you, but they need the money urgently, so I have to pay them first.”

She explained to him to avold him misunderstanding her.

Brian frowned and reminded her, “I had someone check your dad’s company before. His business is going fine. They couldn’t possibly be unable to pay 300 thousand dollars.”

Chris always tried to get projects from Brian, whether openly or secretly. Of course, Stella didn’t know this. She wasn’t aware of Chris’s character, but Brian knew.

He put away his tablet. “You should be more cautious about this.”

Stella frowned. What did he mean by this? Was he implying that Chris was deceiving her?

At the studio, Yelena asked her, “What’s with the look, Stellie? What’s troubling you?”

Stella was thinking about Chris and turned to her. “Yelena, did you put that bracelet up for sale?”

She didn’t want to sell it now.

Yelena nodded. “It’s sold for 40 thousand dollars. I’ve already gotten the money. I’ll transfer it to you now.”

Yelena transferred the 40 thousand dollars to Stella.

With this, Stella had the money Chris needed. However Brian’s words alerted Stella and she didn’t immediately send the money to Chris.

She decided to wait and see what Chris‘ next move was

In the afternoon, Xenia came upstairs and said to Stella, “Ms. Yates, a lady is waiting for you She says she wants to return something.”

“Return something?” Stella went downstairs.

On the first floor, Jessica was wearing a floral dress. When she saw Stella, her gaze sharpened slightly.

Stella had ruined her birthday party last night. She wouldn’t let her off easily.

However, Jessica kept her gentle front. “Hi, Stella. The dress I ordered from your studio recently turned out to be defective. I haven’t worn it yet, so I’m returning it today.”
