Chapter 185

“This is my home. Of course, I’m here. So, where were we? Oh, right. We were talking about hiring a lawyer. Carrie, do you really want to go against my lawyer?”

“I” Carrie was speechless.

Brian didn’t care if Carrie was there. He reached out and patted Stella’s head as if he was petting a kitten. Did you sleep well last night?”

“More or less,” Stella replied. The two of them talked as if they had forgotten that Carrie was there.

Carrie was in turmoil. What was going on? Wasn’t Brian going to divorce Stella? Why did they look so

close now?

Carrie dared not act rashly with Brian around. She bit her lip and stood aside, feeling irritated.

Brian was about to have breakfast. He didn’t have the energy to bicker with Carrie anymore. He just said, ” Either you fight a lawsuit or pay 50 thousand dollars. It’s your choice.” After saying that, he took Stella’s

hand and went to the dining room.

The two sat down. When Brian saw the fish cakes on the table, he raised an eyebrow and asked, “Did you

add vegetables to these?

Stella always tried everything she could to get him to eat vegetables. Once again, she was now the woman who cared about him wholeheartedly.

Stella passed him a fish cake. “You can’t always avoid eating vegetables. I added a special secret

ingredient. It’s delicious. Try it!”

Brian looked at the fish cake. He was in a good mood, so he was prepared to eat it. However, Stella suddenly thought of something and stopped him. “Hang on.”

“What’s wrong?”

“I almost forgot about your germaphobia. Il eat this one. You can take another piece.” Stella reached her

fork over to take the fish cake.

However, Brian was already one step ahead of her. He elegantly picked up the fish cake and put it in his

mouth.

Stella was stunned. “Don’t you dislike eating things that other people have touched?”

“It’s fine since I’m used to it.” Brian was in a good mood as he ate the fish cake.

Stella smiled and asked, “Is it tasty?”

“It’s not bad.”

Stella smiled brightly at his compliment.

Outside the dining room, Carrie was fuming as she called Julia. “Mom, can you give me another 50

thousand dollars?”

“What the hell did you do? Why are you asking for money again?” Julia cursed over the phone.

She was already embarrassed because of what Carrie had done. It was bad enough that she had to pay 500 thousand dollars, but now, Carrie was asking her for another 50 thousand dollars. Did she think her mother was a walking gold mine or something?

“Brian wants me to pay that. He said that since I stole Stella’s draft, he’ll file a lawsuit against me if I don’t

compensate for their losses,” Carrie answered.

Julia’s voice became louder. “I lost 500 thousand dollars because you did those stupid things! You useless piece of trash! I might as well have a dog as my daughter instead of you!”

Although Julia scolded Carrie, she still transferred the money to her.

After enduring a scolding from her mother, Carrie sullenly wrote a check for 50 thousand dollars and took it to Stella in the dining room. She threw the check at her and was about to leave.

However, Brian gave her a cold glance. Just like that, Carrie didn’t dare to have an attitude anymore. She presented the check to Stella with both hands.

“Stella, I made a mistake. So, this is my way of making up for things. I’m sorry.”

Stella took the check with peace of mind. She was in a good mood as she said, “I forgive you.”

Carrie was so angry that her lips trembled in anger, but she didn’t dare to talk back. She simply stormed

out of Tarovian Terrace with her bag in hand.

Stella looked at the check. She didn’t feel as awful as before. At least she had recovered some of the

losses. With this money, Starlight Couture could sustain itself for a while longer.

“Are you happy now?” Brian asked her.
