Our Journey Back To Love -
Chapter 47
Chapter 47
Yelena headed downstairs after choosing the fabric. The employees indulged in cake, excitedly exclaiming it was a gift from the apparently very handsome Mr. Perkins!
“Which Mr. Perkins?” Yelena rushed up the stairs to ask Stella, “The one from Nas Group?”
“Yes.”
“He came to see you and even brought cake?”
Stella sipped her coffee leisurely and replied, “No, he came to order a suit and gave me a box of cake as a side gift.”
“Why?”
“There is no particular reason. Maybe he’s just kind.” Stella chuckled.
Biting into the cake, Yelena inquired again, “What about those two troublemakers? Gone already?”
“Yes, Jessica closed a deal for 68 thousand dollars,”
“Unbelievable!” Yelena snorted. “These mistresses these days have no shame, flaunting themselves right in front of the wives!”
Stella clutched the two receipts between her fingertips and scoffed. “Who cares about them? As long as make money, that’s all that matters. I closed two deals today for a total exceeding two hundred thousand dollars.”
Yelena’s eyes lit up. “That’s amazing, Stella!”
Since her Porsche remained in the shop for repairs, Stella took the taxi home after work.
By the time she arrived at Yolvencrest Estate, it was already past nine in the evening. Yvonne and the other staff had left for the day, so Stella went into the kitchen and found nothing but beef stew.
Stella was especially hungry tonight.
Not wanting to go through the hassle of cooking, she decided to make a quick and easy meal. Scooping. out the beef and vegetables from the rich broth, she mashed them into the rice. A sprinkle of salt, a dash of seaweed flakes, a drizzle of sushi vinegar, and a dollop of creamy mayonnaise completed the flavorful mix. With practiced hands, she molded the ingredients into perfect little rice balls.
In Just a few minutes, she could savor a fragrant and delicious dinner.
After making the rice balls, she poured herself a bowl of beef stew and took a big sip. The first sip sent at wave of delight through her, prompting her to close her eyes in pure satisfaction. “This is heavenly!”
Biting deeply into the rice ball, she savored the combination of savory meat and fragrant, crispy seaweed.
It was delicious!
“Is it really that good?”
Unaware of his presence, Brian stood in the doorway. Dressed in his usual dark–patterned black shirt, his face held a cold, aloof expression.
Stella had bought him that very shirt.
Taking another bite of her rice ball, she glanced up. “When did you come back?”
“Just now,” Brian replied as he entered the room.
She couldn’t remember when it started, but she no longer felt that anger towards him. Instead, she was polite and distant.
Brian watched her devour her food with obvious enjoyment. He frowned. “Are there more?”
Stella looked at her plate, and there were about 10 more left.
She shook her head and said, “No more.”
Brian frowned, and he was speechless. “Don’t you still have it on your plate?”
She chewed a bite slowly. “I remember you don’t eat vegetables. All the ones I made have vegetables. You won’t like them.”
Cooking for Brian whenever she sensed hunger pangs was a habit she could no longer indulge in. Back then, even a four a.m. craving from Brian would send her scurrying to the kitchen.
With every spare moment, she’d learn to cook from Yvonne, mastering a world of flavors just for him. Yet, in the end, his heart belonged only to that scheming woman.
Since he was always prejudiced against her, she simply gave up trying to please him.
“Are there ones with no vegetables?” Brian asked.
Stella shook her head, “No.”
Brian’s brows furrowed as he realized that Stella clearly didn’t care anymore. She didn’t even bother to
acknowledge him.
Unease coiled in Brian’s gut. He shot her a glare, but lost in her own meal, she remained blissfully
unaware.
Frustration simmering, Brian snatched her plate and snatched a rice ball, shoving it into his mouth and devouring it right before her eyes.
