Our Journey Back To Love -
Chapter 65
Chapter 65
After Yvonne brought Brian and his executives coffee during the meeting that morning, Brian ordered her
not to go upstairs anymore.
“She knows better than to disturb me if I do not summon her,” he answered Stella’s question.
Stella was shocked. “So you’re telling me you haven’t eaten the entire day?”
“And whose fault is that?” he drawled.
Stella wasn’t sure if now was the time to argue with a wounded man.
How was she supposed to know he would wait for her to bring him breakfast? She thought he would have
at least had Yvonne bring him food.
“I’ll bring you breakfast–no, I mean lunch–now,” Stella said as she got out of bed and made her way to
the first floor.
Meanwhile, Bernard and Joseph were about to leave Yolvencrest Estate. They talked while making their
way downstairs.
“Have you apologized to Stella?” Joseph asked Bernard!
“Yes,” Bernard answered curtly.
“Could you go easy on her? Brian seems to like her enough. I don’t understand what you have against her.”
Joseph chided gently.
Bemard scoffed. “Brian only likes her because she seduced him. A woman like her has no virtue, or any
Mother merit, for that matter.”
Joseph said, “That’s where you’re wrong. Brian isn’t someone who could be seduced so easily.”
“Why not? We all have our urges, especially men. We’re animals who are driven by lust, and there are
times when we can’t hold back. Brian isn’t above nature’s principles,” Bernard argued
He made his disdain for Stella very clear.
Joseph saw no point in arguing with a mule like Bernard, so he shook his head and went downstairs.
Stella had overheard everything from where she stood quietly behind them. She couldn’t help sighing
through her nose.
As far as she could tell, Joseph liked her. Bernard, on the other hand, seemed to make it his life’s mission
to antagonize her.
There was nothing she could do about others‘ opinions of her. No explanation would be enough to
change their minds.
Such was life. She would come across those who like her and others who might not share the same.
sentiment.
Some were bound to make an enemy out of her while others chose to see her good qualities.
Stella knew better than to take anyone’s opinion of her personally
She went downstairs to replace Yvonne making ravioli. There was also a box of crayfish next to the ravioli.
“Yvonne, are you making seafood ravioli?” Stella asked.
“Yes. Mr. Foley asked me to make it.”
Stella was surprised to hear this, “But he doesn’t like crayfish.”
“Yes, but you do, Yvonne said with a smile. “He had the crayfish flown in this morning. In bulk, too.
“Mr. Foley said you liked them and had me store some in the freezer. He said you could have them on the days you come home late from work.”
Stella was stunned. Had Brian noticed she was coming home after eight or nine in the evening these days? Was that why he had Yvonne make the ravioli?
The housekeeping staff at Yolvencrest Estate got off work at 8:00 p.m. Stella preferred light dinners and normally had Yvonne whip up something simple, like broth or stew.
Perhaps Brian thought Stella would go to bed hungry because of it, hence the ravioli.
After the ravioli was cooked, Stella brought some up to Brian’s room.
He was sitting upright in bed waiting for her. “What took you so long?”
“Yvonne was cooking the ravioli. This is fresh out of the pot,” Stella said as she set the tray down.
Brian glanced at the tray, registering the large plate of ravioli and the crayfish on the side. “Ravioli and
crayfish?”
“Yes. You need protein while your leg’s recovering. I think ravioli is perfect for you right now, and the crayfish was flown in this morning, so it’s fresh, Stella said.
She eased him up against the headboard.
Brian said nothing. He was hungry. Without another word, he picked up his utensils and dined in.
Stella sat by his bedside and helped herself to the crayfish. She peeled one and popped the succulent
flesh into her mouth.
Brian looked at her and asked. “Aren’t you going to peel one for me?”
