Perfect Match: Irresistible Desire For You -
Chapter 296
After the emotional suffering and physical beating he received under the hands of a woman, Mike swore that he would undergo intense training and stick to his long-term fitness plans.
Three days had passed since their second encounter, and it was a sunny morning filled with a cool breeze of fresh air.
Now that he possessed Rosa’s personal records and address, Mike had no problem locating the headquarters of the provincial army base where she was currently stationed. He promptly stated his business to the officers at the gated entrance and presented the necessary documents to be granted access to the compound.
A staff sergeant fetched Rosa from the barracks while Mike waited at the reception area in anticipation of her arrival. It was the moment he had been waiting for. Finally, he could get his hands on her.
“Imagine my surprise when I was informed I had a visitor. You’re literally the last person I want to see, scumbag,”
Rosa said in utter disdain. She looked neat and dignified in a military uniform, but her behavior instantly turned sour once she laid her eyes on Mike.
But her negative comments and snide remarks fell on deaf ears. The broad-minded man simply smiled in response.
After rolling her eyes and letting out a frustrated sigh, Rosa sat down on the chair across from Mike. The handsome gentleman reached his hand out and introduced himself, “I believe we haven’t formally met. My name is Mike Guzman.”
“What do I care?” She wore a bored expression and looked at him with little interest. His expensive suit, slick black hair, and designer shoes made her want to throw up.
Although she couldn’t discount his good looks, it didn’t matter to Rosa how stunning a man was if he had no substance underneath the superficial surface. Their last encounter was enough to convince her that Mike was just like any other man. There was nothing special about him. His beauty didn’t need to be appreciated but destroyed!
She had already made up her mind about him. He was a mean, obnoxious pest who kept on bugging her peaceful life.
Hoping to see any kind of reaction on Rosa’s blank face, Mike was left dumbfounded. Although he managed to keep his cool smile, his heart sank to the floor. ‘Is this woman for real? She didn’t recognize my name. What planet is she from? Or has my popularity with the public faded?’
Momentarily lost in thought, Mike just assumed that the woman didn’t keep up with the latest news or browse the internet that often. “I know we both got on the wrong foot last time. It wasn’t my intention to piss you off. I hope we could put that unfortunate incident behind us.”
In his mind, Rosa was the one at fault for starting this mess. She insulted him, then physically assaulted him, and finally framed him for a crime he didn’t commit. It was a massive blow to his ego and probably the most humiliating day of his life!
With an amused snort, Rosa put her hands behind her head and set her long legs on the table in front of Mike. She leaned back casually and sneered. “Whatever. I don’t even care anymore. What business do you have with me?”
“Watch your tongue and act like a professional. It blows my mind how a woman can exhibit classless behavior like this.” Mike narrowed his eyes and shook his head. Dealing with this difficult lady felt like exploring uncharted territory. One could never know what to expect.
Although he had initially intended for a peaceful visit, he found himself running out of patience and telling her off. The unpredictable Rosa knew exactly how to push his buttons. It was only a matter of time before another fight started.
After being scolded like a child, Rosa’s face turned red, and she snapped back, “Who the hell are you to judge me? It doesn’t matter if I’m feminine enough for you or not, so back off!”
Mike wasn’t allowing himself to be beaten this time around. After exercising extreme restraint, he decided to take her on.
“Yup, it’s not my business. But you’re no woman.” He gestured to Rosa’s body with a face filled with mockery. “Have you seen yourself at the mirror lately? Your breasts are barely noticeable underneath your uniform. That nasty attitude does not belong to a woman, nor does that lean figure. The list goes on and on!”
“You a*****e! Do you think you’re perfect? You’re a whiny little boy in a grown man’s suit, constantly seeking approval and affirmation from others to feed his fragile ego. The sad truth is that you’re a plain loser who got embarrassed by a woman!” Rosa didn’t hold back. Her words were as sharp as knives.
However, her ruthless outburst didn’t seem to faze Mike at all. He pretended not to hear anything and responded calmly instead, “My point all along is you’re no woman at all. It doesn’t matter that you beat me. I don’t give a damn.”
Mike’s insults were getting intolerable by the second. Rosa would’ve been on top of him by now if they weren’t inside the military camp. Fighting every impulse in her body to knock the man out, she inhaled slowly and tried to calm herself down. “Okay. You’ve successfully delivered your message. Get out of my sight. Just don’t let me catch you on the street, or I’ll punch your teeth in.”
After being told to leave, Mike’s wicked smile evaporated instantly. He suddenly remembered the true purpose of his visit. Staring at Rosa’s fixed scowl, he flashed a warm smile. “Major Jimenez, I’m not going anywhere until we become friends.”
Carefully considering the grander scheme of things, Mike decided that the best way to win the woman’s heart was through friendship to increase familiarity and strengthen their bond in an innocent approach. The plan was well-thought but, unfortunately, was poorly executed.
The ridiculous statement caught Rosa off guard that she almost toppled backward on her chair. In one swift move, she planted her feet on the floor and moved closer to the table with eyes wide in shock. “You want to be my friend? What is your stupid brain up to now? For what reason are you doing this?”
Her response was more than what Mike had hoped for. It delighted him so much that she didn’t refuse him directly but was overwhelmed with curiosity instead. He took a few moments to compose himself for a bit before addressing her barrage of questions. “Well, it’s because you stole my first k**s!”
He recounted to her that fateful night at the party, every single detail and the sequence of events that led to this very moment. But to his utter dismay, Rosa refused to believe him at all.
As they delved further into his story, there was a noticeable change in Rosa’s expression. Her puzzled face turned into one of profound regret. No words came out of her mouth while she studied the man intently as if seeing him for the first time. Mike shifted nervously in his seat, bracing himself for the possible rejection. The stunned woman slowly said with uncertainty in her voice, “Come on. You can’t be serious. Something must be terribly wrong with your mind. Tell me, which century are you from?”
It had been a long time since then, and she intentionally forgot everything about it. But memories soon began flooding back, and it made Rosa grip the desk for support.
Now the man who was an unsuspecting target of a dare had come looking for her. Although his attractive features were easy on Rosa’s eyes, he blew any chances he had of befriending her, all thanks to their fight days ago.
“I’m from the twenty-first century, just like you,” Mike warily replied, unsure of where things were going.
“It’s no big deal for your first k**s to be taken away from you, especially in this day and age. We live in a society where males and females alike sleep around and engage in casual relationships. If you need to pay someone back for the first k**s, how about one’s virginity? It’s also a responsibility that has to be addressed in life. In that case, all men in the world will remain faithful to their partners.”
Rosa paused for a moment to catch her breath. Emotions overcame her, and her rant was powered by her adrenaline. She cleared her throat and continued, “That’s unacceptable, at least for me. Whatever your reasons for coming here will not be tolerated. It would set a bad precedent with all the men that I have possibly kissed in my life, which will be my greatest downfall.”
After listening to Rosa’s lengthy speech, Mike felt a big lump inside his throat. He swallowed anxiously and asked in a grave tone, “How many other first k****s have you stolen?”
It was obvious with Mike’s intense stare and undivided attention that he was scrutinizing her while waiting for her answer. Although presented with a serious question, Rosa couldn’t help but be entranced by his dreamy eyes. She suddenly felt her heart skip a beat, but she quickly shook off any sort of feelings that started to develop.
Seeing that this particular topic had greatly piqued Mike’s interest, Rosa took her sweet time to keep him on edge. She leaned back on her chair, counted with her fingers, and said innocently, “That’s such a good question. Let me think. One, two, maybe five or more, but I’m positive that you are the only person to come looking for me so far. You should be honored.”
Rosa was a proud woman. It irked her to have someone cast judgment on her character, especially an individual whom she barely knew. She lied about having other men involved to show Mike that he was merely a dime in a dozen, and she had no shortage of potential partners.
While Rosa seemed preoccupied with counting her fingers, something partially blocked the sunlight from the window, and a dark shadow suddenly fell across the table.
She raised her head in alarm and was surprised to see the handsome face of Mike inch closer to her. His advances paralyzed her for a moment as butterflies fluttered inside her stomach. With wide eyes, she stammered, “Uh…what are you doing? You bastard, what are you trying to pull here?”
