Hearing this, Darlene’s gaze fixated on the enchanting man. Her eyes shone brighter and brighter as she took in his fair and delicate features.

Darlene’s intense gaze left Maloney flushed. He had no choice but to avert his eyes, his heart pounding in his chest.

“Maloney…” said Darlene in a domineering tone after giving him the once over.

“Yes?” Maloney answered as he nervously looked over at her.

His confused expression amused Darlene. Smiling faintly, she crooked her slender, white finger at him, beckoning him closer. “Macaron, come here. I have something to tell you.”

“What?” Her choice of words left him even more baffled now.

‘Macaron? Is there something wrong with her pronunciation or my ears?’ Frowning unhappily, he could only suspect that he had misheard her.

“What’s wrong? I was talking to you!” Darlene said impatiently.

“Oh…” Although confused, Maloney stood up and obediently walked over to a chair directly opposite her.

Seeing her act so regal, he couldn’t help but relent to her demands.

Smiling slyly, Darlene beckoned him closer. In a soft, tender voice, she said, “Macaron, don’t be afraid. Squat down. I won’t bully you.”

Maloney believed Darlene to be a witch under her beautiful appearance for a brief moment. However, he was displeased when he realized he hadn’t misheard her. Bending down slightly, he weakly said, “Can you stop calling me Macaron?”

His tone was emphatic, but his eyes resentful.

“No way!” Darlene exclaimed fiercely. Donning an unfathomable smile, she said, “Don’t you think the name suits you?”

“I don’t,” he immediately replied, his brown eyes narrowed.

Shocked by the coldness in his eyes, Darlene pouted and said, “I called you that on a whim. But if you don’t like it, then I won’t call you that anymore.”

Realization struck, and Darlene finally noticed that Maloney was not as gentle or weak as he appeared. Even though she had grown up with an unsmiling father and brother, she dared not look directly into his eyes after seeing the fierceness of his gaze.

For a moment, they silently regarded each other.

“If you’re the one calling me that, I can accept it,” he eventually said in a mellow, pleasant voice, with a slight smile on his lips.

“What?” frowning, Darlene asked in a bewildered tone.

Seeing the lovely expression on her beautiful face, Maloney, who was unconsciously in the dominant position, chuckled, “What did you want to say to me?”

Recalling her reason for calling him over, her eyes lit up as she lifted her head and said softly, “You’d better bring your chair closer. It’s uncomfortable to talk to you like this since I have to raise my head.”

“Can’t you stand up and talk to me?” Maloney asked helplessly.

“Even then, I would have to tilt my head back just to talk to you,” she coldly replied.

Seeing the corners of his mouth twitch, Darlene waved her hand and continued, “Forget it. You can go back and sit down. It’s uncomfortable talking with you face to face.”

“I don’t think it’s bad,” Maloney answered softly, sitting back down as ordered.

Darlene stirred the slightly cold coffee with a delicate wooden spoon and said to him, “You don’t have to go on a blind date with me…”

“Why?” he interjected before she could finish her sentence.

“I haven’t finished speaking yet. Do not interrupt me!” Darlene said crossly, in a bossy tone.

“Go on…” Maloney’s voice softened, his eyes transfixed on her beautiful face.

Taking a moment to gather her thoughts, Darlene said, “What I meant to say was that we don’t need to go on blind date tomorrow. We can try dating each other, and if we’re a good match, we can consider a future together.”

An idea popped into her mind when she learned that Maloney was her next blind date. His actions had made her regret not meeting him sooner. Of all the blind dates she had been on, he was the first to come and meet her of his own volition. After seeing what an excellent man he was, she figured that if she had a relationship with him, she wouldn’t need to attend other blind dates with all types of weird men.

Undoubtedly, the handsome Maloney had hit it off with Darlene, and his character was currently not in question. Moreover, dating Maloney would save her a great deal of time and effort. Even if they ended up in a loveless marriage, it would be difficult to get tired of looking at his handsome face. And any children they bore would be beautiful.

After considering all these factors, Darlene believed Maloney was the right person. She figured that they could start dating with the intention of marriage. In her excitement, Darlene rambled on incoherently.

Darlene’s words hung in the air for a long time. Although Maloney’s face remained expressionless, he felt a mixture of emotions… Astonishment, surprise, joy…

A lump formed in his throat, and his heart skipped a beat.

Feeling the heaviness of the atmosphere, Darlene clutched the coffee cup on the table, her black eyes sparkling. Biting her lower l*p, she gently said, “I’m 27 years old. I want to get married soon, and you’re the ideal person. My words earlier were sincere, but of course, you can refuse if that’s what you want.”

Darlene made it clear that their relationship would be based on the premise that they would eventually get married.

“Why should I refuse this proposal?” Maloney said hoarsely, breaking the silence.

Hearing him accept her proposal, she blurted out, “Who knows?”

Repressing his happiness, Maloney slowly said, “Darlene, since you intend to get married, you can’t go back on your word!”

Though confused, Darlene, who had her own concerns, nodded heavily. “I always keep my word!”

“Okay! From now on, we are boyfriend and girlfriend.” Maloney grinned from ear to ear, his brown eyes full of joy. “My dear girlfriend, what can I do for you?”

Darlene’s mouth twitched slightly as she coolly answered, “You take action so fast!”

After a pause, he said softly, “You don’t understand.

You always say strange things.” Darlene frowned, speechless. “Tell me about yourself tonight. The more detailed it is, the better. Don’t try to deceive me. If I replace out you’re lying to me, I will kick you out directly!” she demanded.

“Alright. Should I send this to you via e-mail, or should I tell you now?” Leaning against the back of the chair leisurely, Maloney continued, “I promise you will know everything there is to know about me!”
